I need to back up my files. My current usb flash drive is really slow but its from several years ago. I need something fast and reasonably priced that holds at least 64gb. I prefer a usb flash drive over a external hd, unless the hd is way faster.

    • have you thought about adding an online service? I use iDrive and am very happy (2TB for $55/yr). I've used Carbonite in the past and was very happy...PonyBoy
    • ... with their service also. DropBox (file sharing) sucks for such things... you have to maintain it. iDrive and the like require you add 'watch' folders...PonyBoy
    • ... anytime you update / add a file to one of those folders it'll be updated / backed-up by the service. Takes a couple weeks to do your first backup of course.PonyBoy
    • Nice suggestion PB, but I want something faster. Thankspinkfloyd

On Monday I started a brand new graphic designer job, new prospects, new challenges, ya'know, new me or whatever. By Wednesday I had full on flu. Struggled on but by friday I was completely destroyed and couldn't go in. Couldn't even leave my bed or eat anything. Been in bed since thursday night and really want to make a good impression at work but still don't feel any better today, although I can eat things now.

Spread some love this way folks. :-(

    Really fucking random coincidence?

So I'm browsing reddit a few days ago and I come across a description of my girlfriend– the long distance one I met at a wedding. The redditor described the girl he's dating with a very unique physical trait that is linked to her career. The chances of someone else matching this description and backstory of my gf are really fucking slim.

I've come to the conclusion that it's either:

    A. A really random coincidence. From his post history he lives on the opposite coast- theres just no way they can be dating. Yeah I know I live 10 hours away but we see each other every couple of weeks and talk regularly in-between her busyness.

    B. He in fact does know her and is semi making it up. He has the same tight knit career, similar in age, and there is a good chance they went to the same schools. His post history indicates that he brags incessantly about money, women, and career. He saw an opportunity to fantasy brag for karma points on the internet.

    C. they are having a long distance dating thing going on. I really doubt this for many reasons but hey I could be wrong.

Now I have no idea how to proceed. I tried to bait him into divulging more info but he ignored me.

This is what I don't want in a LDR, a slight glimmer of insecurity :/

So all this talk about guns has got me thinking, I want one. Mostly because I spend nights alone and well, because I don't want to find myself in a situation where I can't defend myself. My dog is old and blind now :( he's no help and I'm not getting a scary dog anytime soon. Figured If the crazies have guns, no reason I shouldn't be able to own one myself.
I'm curious if any of your women own guns? I'm a pretty good shot at the range so I'm ready for it.

Maybe instead of a gun you should consider alternatives. For instance, a security camera system is the most effective way to deter burglars. Homes without security camera systems are 300% more likely to be invaded. Most intruders will seek other easy targets if they find your home is protected by a security camera system.

    @sea
I know you're on the west side. I'm back in Venice. If you or any other Quoobs want to go shoot at LAX gun range, I'm down! When i target practice I'm more likely to go to an archery range (my weapon of choice for sport shooting) so its been a while.

My favorite target is the hostage situation.

I've noticed since I've been back Venice has become more sketchy for sure. Someone tried getting into a female friend's apt on Rose a couple weeks ago! A homeless man was knocking and begging to be let in. If she would have cracked the door to check it out, I'm sure he would have pushed himself in. I highly suggest you get a security system installed and arm it at night so your door or windows set it off. When I'm no longer subletting I will absolutely doing the same. My bf travels often and I spend weeks at a time alone at home as well. I understand how you feel.

If you shoot already, I'd say go for it and buy one. But practically speaking, if you keep everything under lock and key and well hidden, in a quick pinch your weapon will likely be inaccessible for home protection. If you have weapons in the house, having an alarm system will protect it from ever being unknowingly stolen if you are robbed while your away. Ive been interested in taking a self defense class but I haven't gotten around to it. I'm easily physically overpowered but there's things I can do about that and so can you. I'm pro gun ownership if permitted and within reason. Cali doesn't require permits unless you wish to conceal carry or buy assault weapons (i think should change). But you really should consider security and self defense too. Both things are relatively cheap. A mace keychain would be good when walking from your car.

Also if you're ever in trouble, scream FIRE not HELP. People come running or will open a for to help with fires but often won't come if they think they're going to get hurt, too.

    • QBN-LA Day At The Range! Sounds fun.BabySnakes

Balls, I just spent a while re-formatting my invoice to offer a two tier payment option, highlighting a discount if paid for directly in advance. All good. Trying it out on a small job first to see how it goes.

Except I've muddled up versions on ther one I sent and not properly described the itemisation, nor removed a note at the bottom that specifies the addition of a 3.5% charge for Credit Card payments. The former means that he could rightfully contest the full charge and pay later the lower rate; The latter is now technically illegal under EU law*

Well that was a good first run.

    * (rules changed this year - thanks eurocrats who seem to be very keen to encourage the bulk of european consumer transactions to go through American payment mechanisms, costing a couple of % across the board, excellent stuff!).

Is there anything 'standard' about an Email signature these days? I've noticed some company's logos don't embed but appear as attachments... other signatures are beautiful / well laid out w/the logo in place, the name as searchable type w/links working etc.

I'm trying to help a client get their signatures setup but they're using in-browser G Suite, Apple Mail or Outlook (they're all over the road).

Nothing is working consistently... G suite's sig is lovely but the logo appears as an attachment in Outlook... Apple's sig is a little whacky but the logo is embedded when opened in G suite and Outlook... I haven't sent anything out of Outlook yet.

I'm reading that mobile devices run the risk of not embedding or will include as an attachment if the logo isn't hosted somewhere...

... anyone have/any 'best practices'? I'm just looking for the most consistent results across all platforms.
