- It's gone downhill horribly... I still buy their beans whole and grind them down - yum... but their donuts / anything purchased in-store sucks these days :/PonyBoy

blog
Last year I had a few 'blackout' moments that only occurred when I awoke in the morning. I think I yapped about one or two of them here in the blog where I had found my glasses crushed, my ear was purple and bruised from hitting my head on the floor, ringing headaches, screwed up vision etc.
The other day at my heart checkup my cardiologist without hesitation used the words "after your stroke last year" while discussing my current medication. My wife and I both looked at each other rather confused... "stroke?... huh?"
No doctor for the last year has ever used that word "stroke" so factually (it was discussed as a possibility along w/other possibilities... for instance: I was put on anti-seizure medication "just in case"). I also found myself questioning my personal daily habits etc trying to figure out what I was doing to myself.
I'm on blood thinners to protect my artificial heart valve. I was taken off those thinners (something that hasn't ever happened in 17 years of having the valve) so I could have some 'standard middle-aged person' tests done. Because of this I ended up having a stroke (as some brain scans also revealed the other day). This is normal procedure apparently - to take a person off blood thinners for a few days before some tests. It turns out I'm one of those rare patients who should NOT be taken off these meds and I suppose I learned the hard way. There are no legal routes I can go here as there was no negligence or cover-up. We have plenty of hospital fees, doctor bills and anger though. :/
- yes you did. and broke your glasses or something. Home remedy (not a replacement for medicine): Beets have proven to widen blood vessels.
take care, pony.pango - What the actual fuck. How is there no malpractice there?garbage
- Oh my...!! A new lesson in life. Sometimes, you shouldn't believe everything doctors say. Take care Kevin. Hugs <3OBBTKN
- at least now you know the next time someone says you shouldn't take blood thinners for a few days to say nope.Nutter

- so sorry! If they stuck diagnostic catheters in arteries for your testing then ya blood thinners can cause probs with the punctuure site.Percrushin
- They should have known that taking you off thinner meds will increase risk of clots forming on the ol' heart valve implant. MRI imaging is non-surgical andPercrushin
- they can usually locate diagnose most neurovascular issues with this imaging technique. At work we 3D print the solid models (MRI's) of peoples stroke cases.Percrushin
