One year ago I — along with many others at the firm — was let go without warning. I was part of a robust nationwide in-house creative team who found themselves suddenly with 25% less staff and a new “leadership” team intent on dismantling them in favor of an agency model, and a heavy dose of nepotism.
Today, the entire remainder of the US creative team, along with a bit chunk of marketing, was let go. So many lives ruined. I am crushed at this news; this was my work family with whom I had spent many years building and nurturing into something great. And now it’s all gone.

Not so bad.
My mother is back in the hospital (I'm not going to talk about the policy of hiring untrained doctors in countries where there's no regulated healthcare; because I'm sure more than one person has had an "interesting" experience in this area), but it's the most graphic representation there is of what's happening in the EU.
We could talk at length about the sons of bitches who govern us, their policies, their lobbies, their moral depravity, etc., etc.
But, so as not to sound so unpleasant and offend anyone, I can tell you that, while I was out with my friends, I bought a NICE (I hope) leather belt from a Moroccan street vendor.
Of course, it was expensive.

A friend of mine killed himself 2 days ago.
We'd been friends for 35 years. Played sport with him every week with a few other guys. Got to know him well...but I never really felt close to him even though I was a groomsman at his wedding and was godfather to one of his kids.
I don't think he had many other friends and it's fair to say we'd grown apart the last 10 or so years.
He was a raging alcoholic and would occasionally call me totally wasted, and proceed to verbally abuse me for no apparent reason. Totally unhinged.
Must admit the past couple of years when he'd call, I would often ignore it. The thought of talking to him when he was trashed was extremely triggering given some personal circumstances when I was growing up.
His life was a shambles...lost his family, his job and all his money.
And I'm wracked with guilt...I was really a terrible friend.

Youtube is utter shit these days.
Any video over 8 minutes gets the longer ad break treatment, my recommended feed is almost entirely things I've already watched or put on my Watch Later list, and now music from bands I've never heard of. I can skip over a video a hundred times and it stays on my list until I tell Youtube to remove it, while new videos from channels or topics I regularly watch don't show up unless I search for them. A chunk of each video is the creator begging for likes and subscribes and promoting a sponsor or Patreon because they keep getting fucked by changes to the algorithm.
Someone out there has to be making a Youtube replacement.
