...is more progressive than the "leader of the free world", you know America is Fucked.

    • I like the "...you know America is Fucked" tagline; reminds me of a Jeff Foxworthy "You know you're a redneck when..." bit.

No question I’m against Trump but in the case of Kyle Rittenhouse, it seems wise not to rush to judgement and add fuel to the fire. I just watched this video and I gotta say, it offers a convincing defense:

Kyle Rittenhouse - The Truth in 11 Minutes:
    https://video.link/w/G0pgb

    YouTube took down the video:

I'm onboard with 90 percent of the political opinions on QBN but after watching this it’s impossible not to understand why people on the right are angry and afraid too.

It’s hard to know what/who to believe these days. The video was produced by Rittenhouse’s legal defense team which is quite possibly a red flag. The video is no doubt biased towards Rittenhouse and much speculation is espoused. Just say’n. At the moment. This video offers a convincing defense.

I am bewildered we do not have better leadership options available in this country.
I am disturbed how many people have guns. Especially a 17-year-old kid.

Hopefully this moment of disruption will soon pass and humanity will self-correct, as it has done so often, and we’ll all land in a better place.

We’re all fucked if we can’t get a better handle on vetting the truth before rushing to judgement.

    • Kyle drove from another state.teh
    • Kyle is a hero because everyone else had criminal backgrounds. What a cunt!teh
    • Right. Supposedly he answered a Facebook call to help defend local businesses. It’s inexcusable that a 17-year-old vigilante showed up with a gun.eggsnbacon
    • All I’m saying is that the video offers a compelling argument he acted in self-defense. Innocent until proven guilty.eggsnbacon
    • I don’t want to get suckered into playing Trump’s game of stoking the flames.eggsnbacon

    • He’s underage, brought an AR-15 across state lines and used it to murder 2 people and wound another ...
Guilty ... end of Fucking story.
      Ramanisky2
    • Agreed. The video is biased in many ways.
But it seems wise to hold off on the hasty character assassinations.
      eggsnbacon
    • Using Kyle as a canvas for which all animus can be projected. It hurts the righteous cause to remove Trump.eggsnbacon
    • oh here we go again... there can be no compelling argument made for a 17 year old taking an illegal firearm across state lines and killing two peoplejonny_quest_lives

The likelihood of violence was high. The adults in Kyle’s life failed him.

one major issue is that americans don't have the political education to understand their own definitions of "left" and "right" are not relative to the politics of history.

    basically, in meme:

    • like most americans might not say their politics are "right wing," but by default supporting a major party is.colin_s
    • not sure taking your definitions from a wrong meme is any more useful.Fax_Benson
    • it's obviously a CIA joke, however the actuality of the political spectrum/where these politicians stand is much closer to the european scale.colin_s
    • trump lies on the left because he lies about being left on manufacturing to take votes from the center :Dkingsteven
    • The spectrum is relative. It’s defined by the scope of the people or parties within the scope. What you’ve written here means nothing without context.nb
    • If you don’t identify your frame of reference, you’re doing nothing different than someone who shares charts with no units of measurement.nb
    • i'd tend to agree with that stance. i think to american politics doesn't really have the scope to be far right. in europe it would be all center right...kingsteven

This was announced a while back but coming in to force October 2nd. The increase is from $460 to $705, or $1,440 for a fast-track application which may not seem like much but bands in Europe generally use local companies to sort the paperwork that have their own charges on top. When you add flights, tour backline hire and driver/ tour management - touring the states was already a cash hole for many mid level bands...

Crucially the applications will take longer to process too (even the fast-track applications moving from 15 calendar days to 15 working days) ... From personal experience the last time the indie band I played in were invited to SXSW we had 3 shows lined up in Austin and half a two week tour planned around it. Visa applications (non fast-track) were costing £2k for 3 people (we were quoted 5k by firm in Dublin for the same). Of course you also have to book your flights and spunk a couple grand in other non-refundable charges months in advance of actually having your visa applications granted - We'd even been offered funding from the british council to cover flights, but the funding was dependant on the successful visa - it was a choice for us between potentially being a couple of grand down for a US tour or Recording and Pressing another LP and touring Europe (while making a small profit) already a no brainer for most... Given how fucked the music industry is now i'd say this is the final nail in the coffin for many well known bands touring the US.

    • Quietus? I read this yesterday, seems entirely fucked in the head. Simply not spending as much on viagra for military personnel would easily negate the cost.face_melter
    • hah, yeah i screengrabbed the quietus article and then realised all the info i read was linked via another site to the forbes article...kingsteven
    • That's not that bad considering u get to be in the mutha fuckin usa. Unless u don't want to be heredeathboy

    • and think of it this way king. can you make more investing 200 here vs where you are at?deathboy
    • and as the country keeps getting more socialist it will have to clamp down even farther on immigration policies becuase of dead beats and costsdeathboy

    • U want to call w here because u see value. Is is not more than if pay?. If not it's not fair n your best interestsdeathboy
    • well i don't know what you're getting at here at all i can go on a holiday whenever i want. bands play where they are asked to play and promoters, venues, tourkingsteven
    • support staff locally profit from them doing so. it drives a grassroots economy and is rarely profitable for the musicians... a futile existence, making stuff.kingsteven
