I just bought an image of USD coming out of an ATM form Adobe Stock. When i went to open it with Photoshop i get the "this application does not support the editing of bank note images" dialogue box.

It's weird as it never been an issue with shots i have used of any currency over the years.

Would of been great to know that an image I bought from their stock library is not editable with their products before paying tor the extended licence.

    • fascinatingmonospaced
    • intrigued to know how they identify currency. The image have a metadata tag or is it their something PS that picks it up.thumb_screws
    • they recognize the pattern from the money with a bit of code inside photoshop, been there nearly 20 yearsimbecile
    • have you tried importing the image onto a blank canvas?imbecile
    • Will give it a go. Cheers.thumb_screws
    • I've scan money in the past and I always got this message, i had a trick to bypass it... dont remember whatBennn
    • I remember when I first read about the EURion constellation in my 1st job, the first thing I did was hi-resolution scan money in and.. no warning. Disappoint.Nairn

Anyone know an alternative to Adobe Bridge ??
Just a files explorer that can see PSD thumbnails

because Windows can't see thumbnails of PSD files, that sucks

    Affinity Designer > Adobe Illustrator.

Spend the time and learn the basics.

    Superior desktop product.

    iPad version exists.

    No contest.

Haven't even touched their other offerings; Photo & publisher BUT might pull the trigger on all 3 for $210-ish.

    No subscription(s) (for now).

    : )

    • i dont think they will ever put a subscription model, the vast majority of their clients are there because they dont have one :)Bennn
    • Maybe major versions paid? Or grant-father in users who get in pre-subscription?

      Regardless me likey.

    • It's exciting using new software once (if?) the core differences click in your brain.ideaist
    • The only issue here is expecting Adobe Illustrator files to open perfectly every time.

      *Sigh*

    • Yeah, I had some troubles with my PSDs in Affinity Photo... that made me go back to Photoshop, i need some PSDs for my photo adjustments... it sucksBennn
    • I'm going to give it a go... lets see how long I last.ShaneHolley
    • I find the only problem again is that you have to begin in Affinity, NOT move from Adobe and expect a perfect transition.ideaist
    • yup. i've made the switch. learning curve is steep in unexpected places, but overall, it's goodbye to adobe and their scammy subscriptionhans_glib
  • Continuity1

Looks like Adobe finally did a good thing and listened to people. I found this this morning in PS:

    • Is that the switch for whether you need to press shift or not for transform? If so, it's been there since they changed the default method.Nairn
    • Yeah, that's the switch.Continuity
    • There's been an option for that since day 1.zarkonite
    • Apparently not, because there had to be a legacy free transform hack as a text file in the Prefs folder since a few updates back.Continuity
    • On day 1, when we upgraded, I was able to switch back to legacy. It's been there the whole time.monospaced
    • Likewise here.Nairn
    • From the official release notes the checkbox was definitely added in 20.0.5. Prior versions required text file setting.evilpeacock
    • i think the new way seems way more logical now.Ianbolton

Really don't get it why Adobe doesn't have a tool for HTML5 Banner ads (+ Video Banners) that can be easily created with multiple formats adjustments and exported as HTML5.

Google Web Designer is crap and clunky. It took me forever to find how to do simple things like fading in and out of buttons.

    • And please don't mention "Animate" cause it can't import videos and it's not good for quick multiple formats creation. You have to do each one manuallyNBQ00
    • Back in 2014 when I started getting HTML banner jobs I had to use Tumult's Hype since Flash couldn't do much yet. That's still my tool of choice for banners.evilpeacock
    • Hype is $50 and Hype Pro is $100. Automated banner batch exporting is worth it alone; I sometimes have jobs with 48 versions that are generated from one file.evilpeacock
    • Why the dv’s?Gnash
    • I just build them 'by hand'... use greensock and keep it simple on yourselfPonyBoy
    • I do the same as @pony, cleaner code, more opportunity to optimise file sizedee-dubs
    • Probably because browsers change so often, it wouldn't be worth the hassle for all the updates it would need on a daily basis.fyoucher1
    • What country are you in to be getting banner jobs? From what I can tell, they've dried up in the USAnuggler
  • MrT4

Just killed the "Adobe Acrobat Synchronizer" with Activity Monitor (Mojave). Memory warnings in AE caused me to look at what was using what. Nearly 2GB of RAM, running constantly, to synchronise shared PDFs and the like. Acrobat isn't open and I sure as crap don't use collaborative PDFs.

Dear Adobe, please give users choice in these things and fuck off while you're doing it.

    • I've just turned on my laptop to use the browser to check emails and browse. Out of interest, check tasks - I have 10 adobe-related ones running. Why?Nairn
    • ..there's not even some CC-related icon in my task menu so ostensibly, there's nothing Adobe-related running. 10 fucking tasks.Nairn
    • Jesus, same crap over here. Thx for the tip–fyoucher1
    • They seem to have this weird goal of becoming a kind of parasite OS. It's getting really fucking cloudy round here!MrT

Guys. I'm paying for Adobe. Yes. For real. Got too much problems with other apps and cr4ck3 v3rsi0n so I got back to paid subscribtion. Also, changes at work next year makes me go back at designing and I want to work in the apps more to be ready.

BUT. FUCK ADOBE! Their stupid Adobe CC Desktop app to manage programs is a real pain! All my download stop and stuck at 45% .... From my research online, its a common problem for a shit load of people since... 2014!! And its still a problem 5 years later! ... I'am angry

    • Adobe, Apple, Google...same Bumblefucks!utopian
    • I find that adobe cc is rock solid. Weird.monospaced
    • you should try it on a MacGnash
    • i find it far quicker on PC. benns error isn't that that CC stops his download at 45%, there is a problem with his computer and this is the resultkingsteven
    • prob due to having cracked software on there tbh. not a fan of Adobe and you shouldn't have to know how your computer works to dl CC...kingsteven
    • but this could be caused by anything. at least try and find out what the problem is.kingsteven
    • FYI Bennn, use Event Viewer https://is.gd/Z3NUuL… see if there are any errors while downloading may give you an idea of the causekingsteven
    • Prob due to some connection issue between CC and Adobe servers, if it's not something obvious like firewall it could be the crack put a registry block onkingsteven
    • connections to Adobe or even the wrong version of .NETkingsteven
    • It's weird how much trouble you're having, I never have any issues. Are you trying to download all the apps at the same time?zarkonite
    • I will try to investigate more, kingsteven thanks for the tips. No, only one at a time, zarkoniteBennn
    • I might end my subscription and try one of the free alternatives. Though, I’ll probably end up with cracked CCfuturefood
    • I have to say I've never had significant issues over the last three decades cracked or not.CyBrainX
    • Adobe's servers have never given us issues, so I doubt there's an error on their end.monospaced
    • Going the cracked way is complicated, sometimes it works, sometimes it dont. And you can't find and make work all the programs... depends on wich you needBennn
  • Bennn0

this is the solution page from Adobe for the download hang problem : https://helpx.adobe.com/ca/creat…

Basically, Adobe is telling me "The problem is on yo side man, get yo shit togheter, our softwares are perfect. And thanks for your last monthly payment, sucker"

    • Some software firewalls prompt you when a program attempts to access the Internet.

maybe some cr4ck3 versions installed some firewall you're not aware of.
      uan
    • like blocks some ports adobe servers use or adobe servers ip ranges.uan
    • but how can it download 45% and block? It would be blocked from the start, no?Bennn
    • no idea. but it is possible it downloads in junks from different locations. (torrent like)uan
    • or it halts downloading at some point and phones home to resume after authorization.uan
    • Yeah that 45% doesn't really mean it was downloaded at 45%. Have you tried a tracert to their servers to see if your network connection is good?zarkonite
    • Found some direct download links if you want to try that: https://prodesigntoo…zarkonite

It's 2019 and we still can't open multiple AE files at the same time. SMH

    Adobe Deactivates All Venezuelan Accounts
    --

    "
Why are you cancelling my subscription?

The U.S. Government issued Executive Order 13884, the practical effect of which is to prohibit almost all transactions and services between U.S. companies, entities, and individuals in Venezuela. To remain compliant with this order, Adobe is deactivating all accounts in Venezuela."

So my annual subscription rate for CC is going up 30% - I only have the full suite because I complained last year, but I've used fuck-all else from the suite beyond my usual Illy and PS. I don't have the time, never mind the inclination.

Anyone here use Affinity Photo in place of Photoshop? Is it able to read contemporary PSD files without any bother?

I think I'm going to nix the Suite and just subscribe to Illy and either use a really old copy of Photoshop (I have CS2 or 4 on dics somewhere, I can't recall which) or try and find some compromise.

if I did full digital media work and flitted between desktop and touchscreen, the CC suite would be great value for money. I don't, so it just feels like rent-seeking bullshit.

With a nod to PonyBoy et al.

    • affinity photo is really excellent, so far it hasn't fucked me about. some of the working methods are unfamiliar, but it seems to do most everything that ps duzhans_glib
    • sadly it's designer that keeps pushing me back to illy, it keeps letting me down. affinity publisher is pretty good as well.
      so far.

    • I tried Affinity Photo with my current PSD files and all my Adjustment Layers were gone... I wasn't happy.Bennn
    • But otherwise, Affinity softwares are REALLY good.Bennn
    • Flying Meat's currently $15 on sale Acorn is fine with PSD files, though it really depends on what features you might miss (for me Layer Comps are missed).evilpeacock
    • The good thing is that one could get by with Affinity/Acorn/Pixel... compared to the Creative Suite subscription. Wasn't true years ago.evilpeacock
    • I bet you could buy *all* the Abobe alternatives for roughly what CC costs for one year.evilpeacock

I'm trying to install programs from the Adobe CC desktop app on a brand new laptop and, AGAIN, I have the "download hang" problem... Installation stops at 44% or 36% and stays there forever.

It's a known problem at Adobe, plenty of posts about it in their forums.

I seriously pissed off. At the price we're paying them... i mean, fuck.

    • so weird this happens to you, because for the vast majority it isn't happeningmonospaced
