So my annual subscription rate for CC is going up 30% - I only have the full suite because I complained last year, but I've used fuck-all else from the suite beyond my usual Illy and PS. I don't have the time, never mind the inclination.
Anyone here use Affinity Photo in place of Photoshop? Is it able to read contemporary PSD files without any bother?
I think I'm going to nix the Suite and just subscribe to Illy and either use a really old copy of Photoshop (I have CS2 or 4 on dics somewhere, I can't recall which) or try and find some compromise.
if I did full digital media work and flitted between desktop and touchscreen, the CC suite would be great value for money. I don't, so it just feels like rent-seeking bullshit.

- affinity photo is really excellent, so far it hasn't fucked me about. some of the working methods are unfamiliar, but it seems to do most everything that ps duzhans_glib
- sadly it's designer that keeps pushing me back to illy, it keeps letting me down. affinity publisher is pretty good as well.
so far.hans_glib - I tried Affinity Photo with my current PSD files and all my Adjustment Layers were gone... I wasn't happy.Bennn
- But otherwise, Affinity softwares are REALLY good.Bennn
- Flying Meat's currently $15 on sale Acorn is fine with PSD files, though it really depends on what features you might miss (for me Layer Comps are missed).evilpeacock
- The good thing is that one could get by with Affinity/Acorn/Pixel... compared to the Creative Suite subscription. Wasn't true years ago.evilpeacock
- I bet you could buy *all* the Abobe alternatives for roughly what CC costs for one year.evilpeacock
