My wife and I are starting a nutrition and workout program with a trainer at our gym. Had us fill out a huge survey about our health and diet, and did BMI testing at the gym. Damn... I need to make some changes. Should be a good program and I'm excited about having someone good to work with.

The one thing he said I should start doing immediately is blending a whole lime with warm water in the morning, and having that when I wake up. I did it today and already felt like it was a good appetite suppression, but there are other benefits:

Currently experimenting with not eating dairy products as I correlated two days of awfulness with previous night's cheese consumption.

Apparently lactose intolerance is something that can develop in later years, or because of a variety of different reasons.

I'm going to be pretty cheesed off if I am indeed intolerant of dairy produce - i'm like a quarter cheese by wet weight. Hate to say it though - I've been feeling a lot better this last few days.

    • Priorities... I'd rather feel bad than stop eating cheese. What's life without chesse and wine?OBBTKN
    • "What's life without cheese and wine"... Err, I'm going to print a shirt with thisOBBTKN
    • Yeah, I'm hoping it's just a glitch - it's surprisingly hard to avoid cheese, at least in my usual routines. I keep catching myself about to founder...Nairn
    • Like, even with th emorning cheese crepes for my kid - i don't like crepes, but if she leaves some, it's straight into my mou.. oh. No, it's not.Nairn
    • Of all diary products, cheese has probably the lowest content of lactose
Lactose is a carbohydrate, cheese is just fat + protein

And... back on track. Started slow-carb on August 22nd and nailing it so far. I’m up around 175 at the start and aiming to get back into the mid 160’s where I prefer to be. It’s crazy that I weighed around 190 until late 2015 when I started getting into shape.

Targeting about 1,550 calories a day
    50% / 30% / 20% Protein / Fat / Carbs - 195g / 52g / 78g

It’s amazing how easy it is to hit these targets every day with three full meals and no snacking.

On my first cheat day this past Saturday, I had donuts for breakfast, cheese curds and a huge spicy fried chicken sandwich, and a giant piece of birthday cake from a neighbor, handful of cookies, a bottle of barrel aged beer, dark chocolate almonds, and this obscene lemon cinnamon role a neighbor gave me earlier in the day.

I like the concept of the “cheat day.“ It is a nice goal to work towards, and during my evening workouts or peloton rides, somehow it makes the exercise all the more worth it to know I can take one day to just be carefree about what I eat.

Most major meals have been consisting of black beans or kidney beans, broccoli brussels sprouts and peppers, and chicken, skirt steak, or pork / ham, and eggs. Even this simple of a list of food can be cooked in so many different ways, and I don’t think I would tire soon of any of them.

    • I was eying those fried curds you posted the other day! I quit drinking and replaced two meals a day with Soylent a couple weeks ago and lost 7 poundsscarabin
    • Nice going!mg33
    • The additional benefit of a cheat day is that it actually helps two things: keeps your metabolism fired, and replenishes your muscle glycogen.Continuity
    • The muscle glycogen is really crucial to give yourself the fuel for lifting.Continuity

"The researchers used data from 1,104 male fire fighters with an average age of 39. The researchers determined the amount of pushups the men were able to complete, and then followed the men for up to 10 years.

The more pushups often the men could make, the smaller were their chances of a heart attack, stroke or other cardiovascular disease-related outcome. Men who were able to complete 40 or more pushups had >>96 % less chance<< of a cardiovascular disease-related outcome than men who could make fewer than 10 pushups."

Are most running shoes at a slope? I was trying on these nike running shoes and the back was too high, and the front was very low. Any good running shoes without as much angle?

    @set

I've been on a low carb rigorously for 2 and a half years. In this time I tried everything and loving pasta I finally found a pasta I love that has closest consistency and low carb/high protein/high fiber macros.

If you want, try this Explore Cuisine Organic Edamame Spaghetti :

    https://www.amazon.com/Explore-C…

I am stuffing myself with this and it's like 90% like pasta to me. Maybe it will taste differently to you but I can't get enough of this stuff.

On top of that, the macros are INSANE on it.

Low calories, high protein, low carbs, high fiber, super high potassium (very important). I mean this is like magic to me.

Try it you might like it. You can eat the whole package and still be at like 40 gr of carbs. But this stuff is so satiating that you probably won't be able to eat more than 2 servings.

Cooks just like regular pasta too.

    • Yea nice one, I've tried edemame pasta once before about a year ago. I don't really remember what I thought of it tbh, should try it againset
    • I like the sound of this.fadein11

Been fasting and have no idea what I'm doing.
Bet I should see a doctor first but just going with it.
