Finally picked up the Prophet 6. Spent a couple days with it already and it’s like having six minimoogs. The VCOs on this are superb and the whole thing sounds like it warped from the 80s to our present time.

    Just amazing.

    • veh nice indeedhans_glib
    • Beauty. I picked up it's close cousin the OB6 a few months ago and am similarly basking in its lushness.mort_
    • *itsmort_
    • Nice! the OB6 is amazing as well. The VCOs make such a difference on the P6 and OB6. The other prophet keyboards are great...futurefood
    • but, the P6/OB6 have a completely different vibe. Are you running latest OS on the OB6?futurefood
    • mine's running 1.6.7
      I think latest is 1.7.5
      futurefood
    • No haven't updated because that sounds like work :D Mines on 1.7.4.mort_
    • it's a bit tricky, hopefully MIDI over USB makes it easier. Updating the Moog Voyager was a pain hahafuturefood
    • 1.7.4 is a good place to be. It seems I'm just an update behind.futurefood
    • well hello.. I have had long lust.. but my major issue is I lack space.. buying one would meaning selling something else.. or getting a 4 tier keyboard standautoflavour
    • also its not like I don't have enough alreadyautoflavour
    • There are module versions of this and the OB6. That’s what I went for. Although the keyboard version here looks very tasty indeed.mort_

I did it... bought the strega. It’s hard to get head wrapped around out of box, it’s like an angry wormhole generator, every subtle knob tweak cascades the soundscape further into reverberating madness... and a crazy hot ear-bleeding output signal.

Easily the craziest noise box I own, love it, can’t wait to do more with it. Gonna grab an 0-CTRL.

    • Just watch in vid how he barrrelllly tweaks 1 or 2 knobs and it tosses any sound into a beautiful swirling pissed off dronefest beaming down from an alien worldprophetone
    • Nice!mort_
    • The Post Rock machine!jagara
    • yeah i can't see how to get it past making a grungy drone. seems expensive for such destruction. mayeb you need to play with it for a whilehans_glib
    • sounds like a swarm of bees. why make such nasty sound other than to bring on a headache?shapesalad
    • Swarm of bees description reminds me of the Behringer Waspimbecile
    • @shapesalad go rest up with a nice cup of tea. I'll bring you your favourite blanket and a Reader's Digest.mort_
    • headaches maybe, happiness definitelyprophetone
    • @mort, thanks, sounds lovely.shapesalad
    • I want it, but for $59.99garbage
    • To achieve same effect for only $60 you can just buy a can of red bull, metal garbage can, a dollar store karaoke microphone and a bag of angry beesprophetone

Man been so slammed with work the past month or so, and then freelance gig which took my weekends I have barely had any time to make music. The slim window I had was having to rework some older songs I did to fit some video projects I was delivering.. so less production and just adjustmen.

Won’t be much better for a minute .. but end of April going away for 3 nights for a BEATRETREAT with 3 homies of mine.. no kids, no partners.. just machines, beer, lemon haze and win

    I can’t fucking wait

    • NEED.. I wonder how many people on that waiting list..autoflavour
    • well how cool is thisprophetone
    • Beautiful. Seems like he launched the YT video and said he had a couple for sale on his website. Now he has a waiting list into next year! Nuts!microkorg
    • For £200 it's a pretty decent price for a boutique and beautiful instrument like this. He could be charging double that and folk would pay.microkorg
    • A stoned me from years gone by could've spent literally days in front of this lol.microkorg
    • that is awesomesausages
    • 5 years waiting list? Fucking hell. Looks and sounds amazing thoughIanbolton
    • ooft yeah @ 5 years... they should make a DIY kitkingsteven
    • seriously, slap $750 on it and make it boutique.. people would buy itautoflavour

First new music out there in a while, this is one of my tunes from my band's new record... had a couple of overdubs to do all through lockdown and just got them done last week/ finished the mix on Friday. Bonus video commissioned by a mental health arts charity with footage from some classic local b-movies they somehow got permission to use!

    • i like that a lot. i'd have brought in the final guitar much earlier... just feel the first half needs soemthing more happening...hans_glib
    • agree, there will be a radio edit...a label wanted it for a 12" so i extended it Cure style before we tracked but 24w lead time on vinyl fucked that enterprisekingsteven
    • It's really nice, vocals are ace. Video also great.fadein11
    • God is this ever dope. Nicely done!mantrakid
    • I like this a lot. I am reminded of Cavern of Antimatter. Ace vid too!MrT
    • Heh! I played before CoM at green man and Tim Gane bummed a fag off me while watching Michael Rother from the wings and I nearly exploded I am such a fankingsteven
    • CoAM! it was the first time Tim had seen Rother live which was nuts as Stereolab totally introduced me to NEU 30 years previously :)kingsteven
    • Love this! The vocals are indeed ace. Great drummer too.mort_
    • Ye the drums, bass and most of the guitars are one take. I had a camera on James (drummer) was threatening to make it the video...kingsteven
    • He's in a full Hummel tracksuit tho, not quite the same vibe hakingsteven
    • Wow. This is f'ing cool. It sounds like something that might have been a Primal Scream Exterminator B-Side...mg33
    • ... I'm sure that comparison is weird... but that groove at the beginning reminded me of them quickly. Such a great tune!mg33
    • heh, cheers mg - vanishing point-> XTRMNTR their best work IMO. random trivia: the track i posted below "love as a ghost" was recorded on the Primal's unusedkingsteven
    • studio time for More Light and originally mixed (the LNT version is kind of a remix) at the same time as that (admittedly pretty damn good) record.kingsteven

New drums day... Tama Silverstar 24"

Now just need to get some cases before I can get these out of the garage and down to the rehearsal room for a proper blast! FFS

Apple unveils biggest update to Logic since the launch of Logic Pro X

Apple today unveiled a major update to Logic Pro X with a professional version of Live Loops, a completely redesigned sampling workflow, and new beat-making tools.

    https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2…

    • Wow, so many buttons, the complexity of this thing...grafician
    • Okay, this is exciting. Might have to get on the Catalina train now. Numerology still doesn't have a non-beta release though.section_014
    • macOS 10.14.6 or latershapesalad
    • Sweet. I hadn't heard about this. Love Logic.fadein11
    • As long as you're in the macOS camp, the years of updates for a $199 app for this and FCPX are the best bang-for-the-buck.evilpeacock
    • Nice update, going after the Ableton beats/electronic workflow users n those on daw purchase fence, pushing things toward fun, live Ableton space vs old man dawprophetone
    • Fun toys that all lead to the same sounding results. You still can't beat simply playing in some midi notes and hand tweaking.shapesalad

Been really hard finding the 'audience' for this track. I have got a lot of kind words for it on SubmitHub but no one wants to add it to playlists cuz it just doesnt 'fit' with most normal hip hop songs... despite it... honestly... being one of the dopest raps / rap styles ive ever heard. This dude deserves so much more love than he gets.

Anyways all this to say im very fucking proud of this song.

    https://open.spotify.com/track/1…

    • Sorry that im posting it again - i didnt realize i already did that above. Fuck...mantrakid
    • That's awesome. If people can't fit it into a tidy category, you know you're onto something good ;)mort_
    • Yeah thats honestly how ive been feeling about it too hahamantrakid
    • Submithub seems to be a joke.jagara
    • ❤️d_gitale
    • to be fair we did get a very nice boost from our last single on submit hub cuz it got picked up by a bunch of playlists and i think started spreading outwards..mantrakid
    • so like while it was only added to say like 50 playlists on submit hub, it was actually added to about 170 playlists in total at this point. which is nice!mantrakid

Not to get too soppy.. but this thread is by far my favorite part of QBN.. it’s this little enclave which the majority don’t bother visiting.. but you guys..
on a few Facebook groups and they are all so fanatical it’s just stupid.

It’s refreshing to be able to nerd out without a flame war starting from keyboard warriors who think the electribe 1 are serious producer equipment..

    Dropped my new EP!!!

Would love to hear what you guys think.

    • This is shit hot. Production is excellent and great tunes. Don't think you should've closed with the Antennae song though, shouldve ended wit one of the beltersmicrokorg
    • That'd be my only criticism. The last track is decent and reminds me of some of the melodic songs on Hello Nasty. It shoulda been tucked in the middle tho ;)microkorg
    • damn thanks for checking it out!! Yeah i was torn i feel like im most proud of that song, but felt like its prolly the most skippable for rap/beatloversmantrakid

I had a play with the Arturia Pigments 4 demo for a couple of hours and ended up buying it (at the current sale price). I've mostly been using hardware synths for the past couple of years, both analog and digital, and haven't tried any of the previous versions of Pigments.

It completely blew me away. The sound quality is killer. Even the filters sound incredible. The effects too. And the unique multi engine setup means limitless options for sculpting unique sounds, not to mention the modulation options.

The interface is up there with Elektron Overbridge in how it shows you so much of what's going on in a few screens.

    Very cool.

    • LOL at me using unique twice in the same sentence.mort_
    • It is a beautiful thingcanoe
    • yep, just picked it up recently too. 49 bucks if you own v collectionkingsteven
    • hyped about the minifreak plugin too but imagine they'll keep it for v collection 10 to give it a proper releasekingsteven
    • Yeah got it for 49 too. Bargain!mort_
    • is this the sort of thing someone with ZERO musical experience could use?hardhat
    • @hardhat It has a load of presets so you can just switch between those which would be very easy.mort_
    • Meanwhile, observing what's going on in the interface for each preset would be a good way of learning since everything is so visual.mort_
    • I bum the hell out of all the Arturia V collection stuff. Pigments 3 was fantastic, so i'll definitely check this version out.Ianbolton

My new little setup for when I don't want to sit at a computer.

Still learning the Digitakt. Played with Scooper the other night with Patterning app on iPad - seems like good scattering fun. Havent played with the T-03 yet though ... fully aware of what it does though lol.

Still to get the whole lot wired and synced up together.

Plan is to be able to use the MidiFighter Twister to control 8 channels of the Digitakt, so 1 Volume and 3 other parameters. That'll be over 2 banks of the twister. Then the third back of twister will be to control top level parameters and effects on the Digitakt. TB-03 into the autio-in of the DIgitakt. Scooper taking and mangling the final audio out of the Digitakt.
