Are any of you guys familiar with this YouTuber / musician?

I can't remember where I came across him, someone maybe shared it in a facebook group, but does he annoy you as much as he does me?

    • haha, yep... the worst. pretty much every youtube musician needs a slap.kingsteven
    • a great big hard slap @ 4:45futurefood
    • This is so painful to listen to. Even him just talking, and all the standard YouTube jumpcuts and flair are outrageous.mg33
    • hey, being a fan of his neon hoodies or his cheese flair or not aside, he is working to get the kids into music-making so he gets thumbs up imoprophetone
    • ...or would you rather your kids watch, learn life lessons from morgz?prophetone
    • but yes, small doses for me now... he was more serious, nerdy in earlier vids, now more nickelodeon performance stuff going on to draw younger crowdprophetone
    • yeah, I can handle him in small doses.. not altogether annoying.. just Canadian.. baller studio thoautoflavour

Crazy how Behringer went from releasing equipment known to be shit quality, to releasing every fucking synth I ever wanted. For peanuts.

    • not to be a hater, but all of this stuff hasn't been out long enough for people to really know if the quality is shit.. give it a couple of years..autoflavour
    • It’s Depeche-tasticprophetone
    • 3:30 is greatprophetone
    • heh i imagine better build quality than the originals in many cases. couldn't believe the first time i lifted an original pro-1 and it flexed in the middle.kingsteven
    • one of the big problems with the old gear is it requires reflow soldering to repair... so many repair shops doing games consoles and phones these days...kingsteven
    • i'd even say there's hope for my garage full of duff behringer rack gear.kingsteven
    • i had one of the originals and this sounds bang on the money. without the dirty switches.hans_glib

    • "fart noise". Why get this over the TR-8? Have you seen the TR-09 in person? It's very small.section_014
    • yeah, its kind of why i have been avoiding them .. but the TR8 is so damn ugly.. and big.. im all out of desk space, so small in this instance is goodautoflavour

    NEW SINGLE!!!

Maybe sounds a bit oversaturated in isolation - it was mastered in teh context of the album so sounds a bit more 'in the world' once it plays on the album... something i need to think about in the future (wasnt me mixing/mastering, it was a good homie @ Up In Arms Recordings in Edmonton who i think did an amazing job on the album as a whole!!)

    https://open.spotify.com/track/0…

    • Love this! Plus the rest of the tracks you've posted.haga
    • This is ace. I'll check out the album :-) How long did the whole album take to put together?Ianbolton

    Anyone here using/used Maschine?

I have been using Maschine+ a bit more in standalone mode lately (ive used Maschine mk2, then mk3, then plus, connected to the computer / via software for like almost a decade now!)

I gotta say.... i feel stupid for not learning it sooner, it really does seem to be answering a lot of my needs and as i get deeper im realizing how much it can actually do in terms of being a dedicated sampler + looper + effects unit.

Ive been following the SP-404 updates and its hard to not feel the GAS for it but then i take a sec and think about Maschine+ and it does so much of it already.

This was just a stream of consciousness blog post... a little precursor to the fact that...

I JUST DROPPED A NEW SINGLE FROM THE UPCOMING ALBUM!!!!

    Check the track @ https://songwhip.com/ghostcartri…
    Presave the album @ https://ffm.to/ghostcartridge.EO…

    Thanks for the support homies

    • i own 2 maschine licenses, a mikro, mk2, and a jam. The softeware is powerful and sounds great. Their sequencing workflow always threw me compared to ableton.imbecile
    • that said, i don't use any of that hardware, nor do i use the 88 key controller on any of my analog gear. Lately, I just want to sell it all and own an MPC One+imbecile

    • Thx imbecile! Yeah it took me a bit to get into the zone when making stuff on maschine but i feel like i should have learned the hardware better cuz it feels...mantrakid
    • totally different to focus entirely on the hardware / even go in standalone mode so im not even looking at a computer screen.mantrakid
    • i've had those moments of effortless usage on the mk2 to edit samples w/ the tiny screen & bust out beats. i don't want to be dependent on my computer, though.imbecile
    • Agreed on: "i feel like i should have learned the hardware better" Maybe a Maschine plus would be good but i'd rather save money on more hardware i can't use :Dimbecile
    • I had a Micro many moons ago. Ended up winning a Maschine full size for designing a faceplate. Didnt really use it but did buy loads of their librariesmicrokorg
    • and instruments that i'd pull into ableton live. never gelled with the maschine way of working either. Still got it sitting in a box.microkorg
    • Have a Push2 too and thats only ever really been used as a keyboard not to its full editing/programming potential. I never RTFM.microkorg

    • how much money have you got to spend? a great start would be an iPad with choice apps. Next up would be buying Ableton or Bitwig....microkorg
    • Then if you have more money, Ableton & Push2 or NI Maschine. If you already have a computer.microkorg
    • Hardware route can be expensive but you could buy some retro groovebox.

      It all depends on budget.

Trying to figure out a good way to play live without a laptop... and not a DJ set either...

Cutting up tracks and putting on a sampler seems right...

    MPC1000?

    • I have a live thin coming up soon also - have been racking my brains for best way of doing it as I am 100% logic - this is where ableton would be useful I know.fadein11

I see autoflavour already posted this beast, but it's a cool marketing idea from Stone's Throw to load the Roland with samples from the label and then get J-Rocc to demo

I'm looking for a standalone groovebox to make low-fi demos on that will later be entirely redone elsewhere, in the genre of Air's Moon Safari. More low-fi jazz than pure electro.
    Up to $1k.

I need a sampling function and great sounding synths to avoid having to connect more gear to it, also need a song mode.
Don't necessarily need midi out, will not be connecting it to a computer.

The key being for it to be intuitive and fun to use.
I've had an MPC One and hated its UI though it's without a doubt one of the best machines out there.
Was considering the MC-707 but no song mode, seemed perfect otherwise.

Right now it looks like my sweet spot would be between the Roland MV-1 (despite its tiny screen) and NI Maschine +
I haven't looked too deeply into it yet but the Maschine + button setup and interface might be the most logical to me.

Would love some recommendations or opinions on these.
