"
Dear Global TED Community,
I need your help with something. This won't take long... but it's a big deal.
Today, Friday, TED Prize winner Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution comes to America. His show premieres on ABC tonight. The show is *awesome*. If people watch it, it's going to change their lives.
Here's what I need you to do:
If you're in America, please watch or record the show. I promise you won't regret it.
Here are the program times
http://abc.go.com/shows/jamie-ol…Here's the trailer
http://www.jamieoliver.com/about…Whether or not you're in the US, please encourage your American friends to watch. Forward this email to at least five people. They will thank you for it.
As a reminder, America, along with much of the rest of the world, is suffering an obesity epidemic. Millions of people are literally in danger of eating themselves to death. Jamie Oliver's food revolution tackles this head on... by helping families rediscover the thrill of delicious, healthy, freshly-cooked food. He is a magnetic spokesman for one of today's most important issues."

I like what Jamie Oliver is trying to do and it's had some success in the UK so it's probably worth watching.
Didn't Letterman or some other chat host knock him right back the other day about this campaign though?

... has a tongue bigger than his fat mouth.?

Christ, people, it's not about the adults who are already too far gone, it's about the kids and what they are being fed in school. It's about teaching kids to eat healthy and make better food choices for themselves.
Why the animosity towards someone who is trying to help?

I think if people cooked their own food more, they would be a bit more understanding about what they are actually eating. so many people eat processed food still weather it be laziness, lack of interest or not having enough time to prepare their own meals from scratch.

Six, I think it's all three of those reasons. So many families are two-income households. My family included, and it's goddamned difficult to get home from an 8 hour day and cook the whole family a meal from scratch that is wholesome and delicious instead of popping something in the microwave and retiring to the couch. I'm the cook in my house, and I try to plan out weeknight meals that cover as many healthy bases as possible and are relatively quick. Sunday meals are usually something a little grander to allow for leftovers for the week.

Went to one of his restaurants last night, it was awesome.
Food was great, and in terms of environment it was probably the nicest restaurant I've ever seen. Everything, even down to the toilets, had really been considered.
He used to wind me right up, but now since he's gone on this preachy mission try and correct everyone's poor dietary habits I actually like him. From the tv shows and series he's done over here, he genuinely seems to care about it. Unless of course he's a really good actor...

I love it how americans will probably really warm to Jamie Oliver as they tend to have a much more positive outlook on things than we do in the UK. He gets SUCH a slagging in the UK, and I think it's a bit unfair really – he's only using his profile to raise important issues, which he's able to do because he's earned such a fuckload of money from other sources.
His 'Jamies American Roadtrip' was a bit cringe-worthy though. I'm sure those Mexican ex gang bangers loved him hanging with them.
- yeah or 'a right proper cunt' to push it home

What has killed his reputation in the UK was his 90s series The Naked Chef, he tried to come off as a geezer but is through and through posh. Also featured him having loads of fake riends who are clearly jobbing actors just dropping by for completely laid back indie dinners with the boys. It pissed a lot of people off to the extent that him completely changing the standards of food eaten by children in the UK at school has made little dent in his reputation as a 'right cunt'. His last 2 books are great.
- Correction, what LAUNCHED HIM in the UK was his 90s series The Naked Chef.MrT

I'm interested to see it. I try to avoid processed food and foods with chemicals in the ingredients. I've recently been to my sons school for lunch and the food is all fake hydrogenated, corn syrup, processed crap. I can't image the fat content. They also only have gym once a week. This is supposed to be the best school district on this side of the metro area.
I'd like to find an organization pushing for healthier school lunches.

Ive had enough of him and his wet lip

Cornered by a pap with a video outside a restaurant in LA, Ramsay was asked: "When was the last time you found yourself complaining in a restaurant about the food?"
To which he responded: "Last time I had dinner at Jamie Oliver's restaurant."
