What has killed his reputation in the UK was his 90s series The Naked Chef, he tried to come off as a geezer but is through and through posh. Also featured him having loads of fake riends who are clearly jobbing actors just dropping by for completely laid back indie dinners with the boys. It pissed a lot of people off to the extent that him completely changing the standards of food eaten by children in the UK at school has made little dent in his reputation as a 'right cunt'. His last 2 books are great.
- Correction, what LAUNCHED HIM in the UK was his 90s series The Naked Chef.MrT

I'm interested to see it. I try to avoid processed food and foods with chemicals in the ingredients. I've recently been to my sons school for lunch and the food is all fake hydrogenated, corn syrup, processed crap. I can't image the fat content. They also only have gym once a week. This is supposed to be the best school district on this side of the metro area.
I'd like to find an organization pushing for healthier school lunches.

Cornered by a pap with a video outside a restaurant in LA, Ramsay was asked: "When was the last time you found yourself complaining in a restaurant about the food?"
To which he responded: "Last time I had dinner at Jamie Oliver's restaurant."

I like jamie as a chef, but as a personality I've always thought he was a bit of a douche; until he began raising awareness of the crap school children eat.
I think its a good thing to help people realise that what they are feeding themselves and thier children is not fucking good for them....
on the adverse... when the zombie apocalypse occurs it means there will be less fat people to have to outrun.

I watched the sneak peek of his show last week. Let's just say he's got his hands full in West Virginia. I think his tactics might be a little poorly suited for the rural South. I love what he's trying to do and fully support it. We don't let our girls eat school lunches, cause of all the processed crap that they'd eat. I hope he get's enough parents pissed off about the choices their kids have to make them want to change the system.

The whole 90s thing was quite annoying and agree that it has left an indelible mark on his character but it certainly hasn't done him any harm. I'm sure he was just going along with whatever the TV people advised him at the time, I think now his company is one of the most savvy in this area and the products he's putting out are solid. I mean his food mag, his website and the iphone app, books.
That iphone app is one of the best thought out apps on the iphone. For those who havn't used it, it has recipes split into step by step, each step displayed full screen, double tap to see a full screen photo of that step, shopping list feature (split into aisles of supermarket), general video tips etc. It's a quality app.
At the end of the day he is showing you how to make decent food, quickly and easily without being pretentious. I don't particularly like the mockney persona but he seems pretty genuine around people and I can appreciate he is doing a good job. He's like a younger male Delia.

...and it's rubbish about not being able to decent food when you get back from work. You don't even need to cook 'healthy' food, just not eating the processed food every night is a huge benefit to you, so much shit goes into those things to cover up awful ingredients. Why would you want to eat it?

I'm not sure how long Jaime Oliver has been doing this, but Ann Cooper has been at this for a few years as well. While the site is a a slight mess, her message is pretty clear

I like what Jamie Oliver is trying to do and it's had some success in the UK so it's probably worth watching.
Didn't Letterman or some other chat host knock him right back the other day about this campaign though?

Christ, people, it's not about the adults who are already too far gone, it's about the kids and what they are being fed in school. It's about teaching kids to eat healthy and make better food choices for themselves.
Why the animosity towards someone who is trying to help?
