Here's my nomination and a good buy for the money:

It's $650CD, so that'll probably be around $500USD(give or take). It's light (because it's entirely aluminum) and fast as hell, I ride one. My bike is a few models up, but it's essentially the same ride.
Just sayin' that there's a good alternative to riding a fixie and it'll probably be an easier ride over the bridge to Manhattan, like e-pill said.

... and the Shimano Alfine version featuring artwork by Jeremy Fish and an 8 spd internal hub with hydraulic disc brakes mounted to aero wheels and 32mm Maxxis Detonator tires ( the black and white tires in photo are not available ). This is possibly my favorite bike in the line! Finally an all black commuter with disc brakes, gears and riser bars! These should be hitting stores in the middle of June.

I'm totally with Blue on this one - If I see one more fucking hipster riding a fixie through Surry Hills in Sydney I'm gonna blow a gasket - Surry Hills is named so because it is full of HILLS! Why anyone in their right mind would ride a fixie here is beyond comprehension, except for wanting to be oh-so trendy... it's such a fucking joke....
