some people have bikes with only one aerospokes... whats the deal with that?
- TheBlueOne0
"less weight"? Seriously? Like what? You're in a race or something with Lance Armstrong? It's all psycho babble self-justification for being a trend whore.
- blue i have a 3 flight walk up, less weight means less for me to carry up...e-pill
- no race but if you live on the 4th floor and want to carry it up... that would suck********
- yes, and with eddie merckx********
- OK, fine..I concede that point.TheBlueOne
- That's bullshit, buy a light frame, the gear don't weigh anything.Andrew_D
- I will prolly do both... anything will help********
- blueone is right..janne76
- Man up a little bit, are you seriously complaining about carrying a bike 4 floors? Really?hellogrid

I've lived in manhattan for eight years now, grew up five miles from the city line for my whole life and only in the last few years do I see these goddamn "fixie" bikes and you're justification is "well I live in NYC and it's flat...".
It's bullshit. You guys all want to look trendy and grungy and all "new york" and shit, so you try and look like bike messengers. Bike messengers used geared fucking bikes because it makes their job fucking easier. Once again turn a working, functional thing into some sorta stupid "lifestyle choice" and then defend it because it gives you some sort of integrity and authenticity. It's all fucking decadence. Decadence I say.
And most of the same people who ride these fixies wear tight ass fucking jeans. Who the fuck wears tight jeans to ride a bicycle. I hope your janitor keychain with the gadzillion keys falls off your belt and jams into your bicycle spokes thus forcing your pork pie hat to fly off your head and when you run into traffic to get it a bike messenger on a geared bike runs you over.
- I'm getting into this whole Orwellian Five Minute Hate thing daily. Does wonders for the skin.TheBlueOne
- what the fuck is your point... if i wanna buy a nice looking bike, I will. get over yourself********
- get the fuck out of here with your tolerance and logicTheBlueOne
- blue if i want to ride my bike why am i being labeled as trendy when its exercise 4 me.e-pill
- being in fashion i appreciate the trendy comment but you need to step out of your shell.e-pill
- yes there is a lot of bikes here but why cant people just use em and enjoy the outside.e-pill
- it might be fucking decadence for you but man step away from that hate...e-pill
- its just people riding a bike and enjoying life.e-pill
- MSTRPLN0
- gears and all...vaxorcist
- And look at those beefy tires.BrandNewly

I fully agree with you Blue.
Despite the fact these bikes are nice, I can't stand the justification people use to avoid conceding their just following a trend. There's no point in arguing a fixed gear is easier than a geared bike.
I even ear people saying it's safe and that they have more confidence in their ability to break with a fixie than with brake system? how ridiculous atttempt to be a core fixie rider....- i have no reasoning i just like them... whats wrong with that?********

you see these damn fixie bikes only in the last few years as i assume you just weren't paying attention before that. seriously, it's the oldest form of locomotion on a bicycle, i'll just have to assume you're ignorant really. unfortunately it has become a fashion accessory as of late, and it's fantastic that you choose to lump me in that category, however i don't really lose sleep over it. i choose to not have gears because i enjoy it, simple as that. yes, it's far more difficult, so if you're a fucking pussy i guess it's not for you. get a segway, i hear those are easy to get around on.
- Yes. That's it. I'm ignorant.TheBlueOne
- And I'm a pussy, you fucking assholeTheBlueOne
- oh, was that directed at you?acescence
- yeah, i can rant like an cock tooacescence
- i'm just fucking with you dudeacescence

- dyspl0
not for you acescence, but I hear that some times " so if you're a fucking pussy i guess it's not for you"
bwahahahahaha!!! you some hardcore-extreme-riding?
1.tricks : get a bmx, try to jump 20steps stair, or try to make some flatland bmx trick.
2.speed : ride a motorcycle and try to go REALLY fast, in the city if you're an asshole, or in the mountain roads.riding a fixie is not hardcore nor the most dangerous thing on earth! It's just dumb cause you have accidents you would'nt have with a normal bike...
Most fixie rider I see only stand near a pub, and have some drink with their fixie rider friends. posers.
- acescence0
clearly the ones with skinny jeans are the posers, if you actually ride regularly, there's no way you could fit your legs into a pair of skinny jeans, ha
- janne760
i really think this fixie thing is just retarded. they are unsafe (no brakes!) and not very comfortable to drive as they lack gears..
- janne760
FIXIES ARE FOR HIPSTERS AND HIPSTERS ARE PEOPLE WHO CAN NOT FIND THEIR PLACE IN SOCIETY!

anyway, back to the topic... this redline 925 is a sweet little commuter ride and can be had for around 500. and look, it's got brakes!
- it also has mud/ splash guardse-pill
- Good option also.non
- lol not much of a fixie now anymore is it?janne76
- Hmmm... Its fixed. Why would'nt that be a "fixie"? Sheldonbrown.comnon
- +100. Own it. Love it. I have several bikes and it's become my fav. Had it about 2 years now.nocomply
- may want to swap out the handlebars though, depending on how you like to ride.nocomply
- Wouldn't want the front wheel laced like that.rounce
- DrBombay0
Get a fucking bmx bike if you want a workout getting around the city, you posers. :P
- Ampersanderson0
Do some research, man. It sounds like you're obsessing over a trend—a trend that's not cheap.
- non0
I personally have 2 bikes. One geared (expensive) wich I use for long rides and weekend trips. One fixed (cheap) wich I use for commuting and running around town.
Now, I think people who hate "fixed gear bikes" actually hate trendy looking people who ride them, because clearly, they never ridden one.
Like hating BMX bikes because they're small and unpractical with them fucking coaster brakes and pegs.
- e-pill0
i dont have a fixie, i have a free wheel with brakes. i dont use it for getting around the city as i use it for just enjoying the city and taking pics of inspiring things... all this talk about hate towards people on bikes is pathetic seems you people are too stressed out in life to go and get yourself a bike and go explore the world around you... yet you can easily tell those that do that they are
"hipsters" "trendy" what ever, i say thanks!!!ive had so many different bikes in my life from bmx to redline to diamondback to schwinn to iro and all had brakes and all got me around and outside... back then we didnt have inner nets... but now inner nets are sucking you in so much you never want to leave your holes and just complain of others who are outside rinding their fixies with their tight jeans on smiling and living life...
on that note, i think ill go outside and ride my bike.
- DrBombay0
Every week this topic comes up. I have no problem with people riding whatever they like. The bullshit about the brakes is what bugs me. Sorry but merely having brakes isn't going to fuck up your zen-like ride you pretentious cocks.
