Republicans Twittering away credibility
http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS…
"If Republicans can't allow that the president did his job well in this unambiguous case, why should we believe their complaints about anything else? If they can't pat him on the back for this one, why should we even listen to their arguments about the budget, about health care, about energy?
If Republicans want Americans to see their arguments as credible -- as they may well be -- they need to present themselves as the credible opposition.
Good first impressions count for them, too. And so far, Republicans are Twittering them away."

Pretty revealing article here:
The Quiet Coup
"The crash has laid bare many unpleasant truths about the United States. One of the most alarming, says a former chief economist of the International Monetary Fund, is that the finance industry has effectively captured our government—a state of affairs that more typically describes emerging markets, and is at the center of many emerging-market crises. If the IMF’s staff could speak freely about the U.S., it would tell us what it tells all countries in this situation: recovery will fail unless we break the financial oligarchy that is blocking essential reform. And if we are to prevent a true depression, we’re running out of time."

Read this comment on a political blog, can't say I disagree with him:
When I hear more about Fox News/Limbaugh et al and their tea parties, I am reminded of the Republican Putsch during Roosevelt's first term when they actually tried to take over the government and institute a fascist state because they worried about their loss of fortunes! I hope our news media is more on top of our current crazy bastards this time, but we should never forget that men like DuPont and Clark tried to topple our government because they wanted complete financial freedom to do whatever they want. These teabaggers remind me unfortunately too much of those men of the 1930's. We who forget our history are doomed to repeat it.
....”Alarmed by Roosevelt’s plan to redistribute wealth from the rich to the poor, a group of millionaire businessmen, led by the Du Pont and J.P. Morgan empires, plans to overthrow Roosevelt with a military coup and install a fascist government. The businessmen try to recruit General Smedley Butler, promising him an army of 500,000, unlimited financial backing and generous media spin control. The plot is foiled when Butler reports it to Congress."

You know, being against foreign wars and against a standing army was just as important to the founders as the principle of no taxation without representation. It's odd how Fox, Lou Dobbs, Michelle Malkin, Ann Coulter, Newt Gingrich and the rest of the usual suspects are invoking the Spirit of 1776 for these tea baggers, but the antiwar protesters of recent years were "radicals" and "leftists" and "liberal fascists".
You can't cherry pick history to somehow make you more "american" than the fellow next to you. If you want to invoke 1776 then you got to take it all.
I think someone once said that Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel. Still rings true.

Republicans... a laugh a minute... a gift that keeps on giving.
It's all-around too funny that these "tea parties" are essentially protesting the results of Bush's tax measures, poor policies, economic destruction, that Obama has to now deal with.
All they can do now is complain, complain, complain, without offering any new ideas. This tea party stuff is so laughable, because it's just another instance of them glomming onto something they either don't understand, or isn't relevant in this day and age. I mean, the absurdity in the fact that probably 90% of the people showing up stand to have their taxes LOWERED under Obama's plan is pretty hard to look at.

Rush Limbaugh, yesterday on the poor pirates shot by the big band fascist president:
"The story is out, I don't know if it's true or not, but apparently the hijackers, these kids, the merchant marine organizers, Muslim kids, were upset, they wanted to just give the captain back and head home because they were running out of food, they were running out of fuel, they were surrounded by all these US Navy ships, big ships, and they just wanted out of there. That's the story, but then when one of them put a gun to the back of the captain, Mr. Phillips, then bam, bam, bam. There you have it, and three teenagers shot on the high seas at the order of President Obama."
http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home…
Then he goes on to insinuate that the only reason the president ordered the SEALS into harms way was to protect that particular ship because it had supplies heading to Kenya, and Obama has family in Kenya,
Total. Fucktard.

Funny, I don't remember this kind of coverage & promotion from FOX for any OTHER rally against the government's wasteful spending, like, I don't know $600 billion against an uneccessary war...
Well, I guess I can rest assured that I can go protest as a good American Citizen against my government for a nationalized healthcare system, or against a military action, FOX will do the right thing and do some nice national promo materials for my rally and maybe send some of their top notch to interview me sympathetically, right? Of course...
- mg330
What really irks me about Fox News is they way the slap the "America" label on anything they approve of; they way they call people "true Americans," or "proud of their country," etc. It is painfully obvious that they are saying that Republicans and conservatives are more American than Dems and Liberals. I think that's disgusting. The second we start insinuating that one party, or any individual is less American because of their differing views... might as well flush it all down the toilet.
