I collect vintage Timex but today I got my first luxury watch a 1966 omega seamaster cal 601
Next is a seamaster date from the same era or a seamaster cosmic
The big grail is a pieman arrowhead constellation
- So you're the new Bond. James Bond.grafician
- It's not that kind of seamaster ;)trooperbill
- I have a nice Omega from the early 50's, standard fair tbh, but it looks great with the ostrich leather strap I got for it.face_melter
- just bought crock for mine. now to find a clasp from 1966 ;)trooperbill

- A big part of me wants to hate that..
but I can't.Nairn - Dumb question, is it supposed to be like that? Or is it waiting to be restored?Maaku
- I have no clue, I guess it looks old, but it could be by design. Found on tumblr, no actual source for more info...grafician
- I love it thografician
- I would very much presume intentional.Nairn
- cooooolmantrakid
- why do i now have a demi at the thought of making my own watch?Nairn
- No, a clock.Nairn
- Answer here : https://www.google.c…i_was
- Fuck those notes, it's taichi murakami watchi_was
- you irritate me, but thanks i_was.
https://labstorelond…Nairn - Not that I'm in any circle of hell going to buy a watch at that price, but I DO like that it's (I think?) some sort of cast concrtete/ -cum-resin thingNairn
- The Quartz Movement for this watch probably costs <$20; the strap and main bulk-thing about the same again. Just need to bother with the face a bit.Nairn
- I would even at that price, this is a beautiful piece!grafician
- I memba researching some watch brand that might've been linked here a few years ago - some LDN-baser thing. Realised what obscene margins they worked toNairn
- if I was going to (which I'm not because I'm tight af) I'd much rather commission a watch than spend the equivalent on some still cheap-ass overpriced bullshit.Nairn
- Remember guys, life is made of simple pleasures !i_was
- ^i_was I consider this a simple pleasure for myself - made in japan too, like a good Fuji camera, a good katana and other quality objects to own in lifegrafician
- this appears to be a mechanical movement... curious if it's an ETA. If so, could see this price point.showpony
- It’s probably a sellita movement. As a designer I dig his stuff, but it’s a fashion watch, so appropriately overpriced.ben_
- Ah jeeze no it’s a miyota by the looks of it. $100 movement, but again you buy this watch for the look, not the craftsmanship.ben_
- A big part of me wants to hate that..
- Bindegal-3
Bought this watch from joom.com, prize 20 USD.. But if i bought the same watch in a store in Denmark, it will cost me 54 USD:
- This is for telling time?monospaced
- What will you spent the $34 on?Doris_McSquirter
- @Doris a pizza!Bindegal
- I hope that 'code' like Obama;s hotdogs and $60k "waitresses".Doris_McSquirter
- Reminds me of the time I bought a couple of comically-awful watches on AliExpress to 'gift' a couple of QBNers. They were HUUUGE. Never sent them in the end.Nairn
- Can't think where they got to - I expected to find at least one of them in my desk drawer here...Nairn

- It's been interesting to see how some of the bigger, more traditional watchmakers are taking on the smartwatch thing. This is pretty classy.ben_
- pinkfloyd0
- no but that strap makes it look like a Gucci clone.fooler
- A bit. Hands and day are very different.mandomafioso
- Strap can be changedpinkfloyd
- I think it does, but there are so many that have the pseudo diver look...formed
- Rolex' Submariner is an Omega and Blancpain clone. This Seiko looks like a Seiko to me.gonzalle
- There's nothing pseudo-diver about it, it's a Seiko diver's watch, a 7000 series by the looks of it.ben_
- pinkfloyd-1
- Those birth control glasses tho...robotron3k
- lolpinkfloyd
- @robotron. where you in the military? Only the people I know who went through basic training call them that.fooler
- robo aint saying shit. Trained well.Hayzilla

Rolex Unveils New Diving Cuckoo Clock Capable Of Working Up To 3,000 Meters Underwater
GENEVA—Touting their new timepiece as a marvel of modern horology, watchmaker Rolex unveiled a diver’s cuckoo clock Thursday capable of keeping accurate time at undersea depths of up to 3,000 meters. “Whether you’re surveying the depths of the Mariana Trench or just taking your submarine out for a spin, the waterproof, pressure-sealed Oysterquartz clock makes the perfect undersea companion,” a press release touting the product’s specifications read in part, noting the combination of craftsmanship and technology that allows the clock to stay accurate to within 100 milliseconds, the detachable hook that easily attaches to standard mounts of most watercraft, and the ornithologically correct cuckoo on its machined steel extension armature. “When you buy a Rolex Perpetual Cuckoo Sub-Mariner, you know you’re getting the most durable, highest quality clock available, and one that will long outlast others in its class.” Rolex announced that the clock would make its public debut in the next James Bond film.

since june i've been collecting vintage timex watches (manual/automatic from the 50s+)
they're great, horologically significant, vary in design, are cheap to acquire, there's a good opportunity to make money by refurbishing them, are easy to service, parts and plenty full.
all in all a great hobby
just buying the kit to do the refurbs is a bitch
- That's cool. I've just started getting into it myself. Bought an electric (pre-quartz) timex movement I'm trying to refurb for a small desk clock. Good times.mandomafioso

- Yes! That bottom one is what I'm talking about! Pretty near perfect if you ask me. Though I would make the hands a little less pointy.nocomply
- Regarding the comments on numbers vs. no numbers above... It's funny what different brains need to tell the time...nocomply
- For me, the numbers are everything. I screw up all the time without them...nocomply
- To the point where sometimes I freak myself out for a second, thinking it's an hour earlier/later than it actually is.nocomply

- Doomed from birthset
- have this exact watch on as we speak... love the skx.showpony
- I was testing to see if my serial downvoter would downvote this to see if they would go any lower.pinkfloyd
- Welcome to world. Here, have some instant shallow materialism.set
