These are rather lovely, from a new London watchmaker. Nice story on them in the new Eye mag. Custom font from Commercial Type. Golf clap.
- Remember hearing about these a while back. Wouldn't mind getting my hands on one.duckseason
- Me too. Nice fox as well.MrT
- Posted these a while back - quite nice looks, but they have $12 off the shelf mechanisms which feels a bit shit.detritus
- fox looks lamehans_glib
- niceinteliboy
- Commercial Type did the lettering. Price is well off though: no heritage/cheapish movement.LukeO
- I didn't realise the movement was pants. Where was that info, I was temped to get one...?MrT

- haters gonna hate. everyones so worried about looking different that they all look like the same clown costume and go around telling people with class that theygilgamush

- so nice. get it.iCanHazQBN
- Dope, but go for the mesh instead of plastic. See http://cl.ly/image/3…meatball
- I have the square face. Love it.desmo
- i like itcbass99
- I have the non-chronograph version of this watch and I love it. $160 and I get compliments all the time on it.fourth

so im potentially coming into a windfall and have 3k to spend happy to go pre-owned.
currently shortlisting tudor bb 58, tudor gmt, omega speedmaster moonwatch, jlc reverso, rolex oysterperpetual and if i can negoriate it a rolex datejust 36mm
what would you get (feel free to add to the list)
- dogecoinimbecile
- I would go BB58, been wanting one for a while but can never seem to justify it to myself...especially being stuck at home right nowBaskerviIle
- Good list — I like the JLC reverso. If you like to go dressier I would look at the Santos Dumont by Cartier. You can get the LG Quartz new. Great watch.wordssssss
- If you like tool watches I would recommend a look at the Enicar Sherpa line.wordssssss
- i dont do quartz but thanks for the santos recommendationtrooperbill
- Its a pretty decent "high-autonomy" quartz movement with a fairly impressive 6 year battery. but i hear ya...wordssssss
- I'm looking to sell my Nomos Tangomat GMT - Selfishly you should add that to your list ;) Have fun though, this is a great list!ben_
- good luck getting a moonwatch at 3k. I have one and its greatcannonball1978
- bb58 is good valuecannonball1978
- Speedy moon isn't totally out of the question if condition isn't top concern.ben_
- Omega Speedmaster, but I wouldn't buy anything unless in perfect condition.formed

- Beautifulmonospaced
- Really is, and really $$$MrT
- Doesn't need line for every minute, and perhaps only needs lines for every 10 minute. Looks like any other 'mens' watch. Strap looks a bit too thick.shapesalad
- I appreciate that the minute lines and numbers, while not required, are at least refined and very small compared to other watches.monospaced
- $11,000+
Damnmonospaced - lol shape after after that fugly FES thing you posted below.MrT
- Meh. I can think of a ton of companies that have real pedigree (hold's value) and is more attractive. Just me, clearly.formed
- I could see it selling for $500, maybe, but otherwise what are you paying for beyond a name? IWC, Rolex, Omega, Breitling all have a lfietime of historyformed
- sure, but are any of those brands are free of paying for the name to some extent?MrT
- But you are paying for a watch maker's history, the pedigree. I wouldn't buy a Ferrari watch, either. $500 would be a lot for the Leica name, 13k is sillyformed
- it is that. it's pretty but I want wheels and an engine for that kind of money.MrT
- fooler0
- One says class, the other says jersey shore douchebag.CygnusZero4
- none of those say class. rolex is GAUDY. They look like something you pull out of those toy-machines with the claw thing.CanHasQBN

- I thought those nixons @ 51cm where huge but these things are a full 55cm wide!fooler
- Big one is for the visually and stylistically impaired.MrT
- Rolex's aren't class?? Sounds like someone cant afford one to me.CygnusZero4
- *nods at Cygnus*ArtOrDie
- Re: Rolex = GAUDY - No.
Re: SISU - Douchebag watches.non - That's right, Rolex's are not classy. And I can afford more than one. Don't assume every designer is piss poor.CanHasQBN
- They are the equivalent of 23" chrome rims. Gaudy and overly shiny. You are just hypnotized by the brand name.. "rolex".CanHasQBN
- I think you're thinking of Breitling's. Rolex's are NOT gaudy.CygnusZero4
- They're relatively small, and most just have the bare essentials, no extra bling.CygnusZero4
- They say "sleazy businessman with no personal taste or style".Presta

- fooler2
- i'm into these... dig the military look these have with the leather band:
https://bulangandson…showpony - I think instead of buy yet another not so cheap watch like that Filson or TID I'm going to save up and buy a proper watch like this.fooler
- It's a good looking watch for sure. What I am wondering is why would a practically minded person spend several grand on something worth a couple hundred at bestgilgamush
- it's a poor mans rolex but at 3 grand I hear what you're saying. But Why drive an nice car when a Kia or Hyundai while do the same job.fooler
- cheesygarbage
- cheesy? This design basically hasn't changed in 60 years. I'd call that a Classic not Cheesy. Lets see how those Apple watches look like 60 years from now.fooler
- Cheesy?! Tudor came from Rolex... these were MILITARY watches before they were fashion statements. Mechanical, self-winding bad-ass machines.showpony
- Like these more than Rolexes.wordssssss
- just not my bag. not really a watch guy.garbage

I own an automatic Mondaine movement watch right now. I'd love to get this but its pretty $$
http://www.mih-watch.ch/I also like the look of 80s Heuer Regatta models..
Aside from those, most newer watches are too big for my wrist. Nomos makes some great smaller watches, but still too expensive for me. And vintage chronographs are nice too..
- ewwwlvl_13
- NOPE. sorry i'll glue a calculator to it or something..
anyway wearing a mechanical watch is too much fun. can't fuck with digital or quartz ever.pom - gonna stick with "ewwww"
sorry.
lvl_13 - On what, though? The band on the tag watch is ugly... but the MIH watch is definitely not! And 'vintage chronograph' is kind of not one look..pom
- I love both.non
- The band ruins it ... looks cheapXB12

- Photoshop out all the brand names and then decide - eg:shapesalad
- 1 - It's a bit of a clunky, confused square round design.
2 - Standard, generic looking mans watch.
3 - modern version of 2.
4 -cheap looking catalogue watchshapesalad - Breitling gets my vote as it's the nicest looking. In terms of logos, I like Omega's logo best.shapesalad
- Speedmaster is too common, I rather have the IWC but in all black. Rolex trumps them all.pinkfloyd
- No Rolex for me, too overhyped and overpriced these days. I used to love the Daytona, but too small and waaay to much for what you get.formed
- I'd only get a black one of any of these. Blue is nice if you have several watches, tho.formed
- How about spending your $3K+ on this instead? https://www.ebay.com…Nairn
- Rolex isn't common?Nairn
- The Breitling looks pretty nice, but I don't like their new logo.pinkfloyd
- Nairn, depends on the rolex modelpinkfloyd
- dumbasspinkfloyd
- lol @ shapesalad's opinionspinkfloyd
- Laugh all you want but people buy terrible looking things from a aesthetic perspective based on the fundamentals of design with an origin in nature...shapesalad
- ...purely because a logo is on it. "Oh it's a ___, oh cool" yet without that brand name on it, sold in a cheap shop and you'd think it looked shit.shapesalad
- lolpinkfloyd
- "confused square round design." lmaopinkfloyd
- all of these are fugly over hyped over priced tat. by all means buy one, but you're wasting your money. a rolex at least will hold its value i suppose.hans_glib
- yep to rolex. agree with Hans. Either get a nice cheap eBay vintage and put a nice strap on it, or get a rolex. anything in-between is a money sink hole.shapesalad
- Panerai, wonderful watchrobthelad
- They all hold their value and are fairly solid investments. Look at the resale. As I noted, Rolex has been overhyped/overpriced for several years now.formed
- Making them a pretty speculative investment at this point (10 years ago it was different). Too common for me, personally.formed
- @ss these are about $6-8k. Can't get a decent watch for $3k, unless it's used.formed
- I do care about a brand name and pedigree. That's where the investment is and what will keep the value.formed
- how are you guys designers without knowing the importance of brandingpinkfloyd
- ^+++++++formed

- Nay / Nay Have never been into the Explorer's but I would probably go with the right one bcasue of the aging of the dial.wordssssss
- Right. Oyster feels right for an ExplorerBaskerviIle
- left. I like the texture better.cannonball1978
- Right. Left looks too busy to me.formed
- leftmilfhunter
- the fabric texture on the left makes the watch look tiny. is it tiny? ...if not, then right. (3 months later)sarahfailin
- was this pink's last post?? we miss you pink!sarahfailin
- shapesalad2
- I want all the tools and a little studio like this for when I semi retire...shapesalad
- Wowrobotron3k
- This is cool from a craft perspective, but would *ruin* the value of any watch that this is done to.showpony

- lol ok thankspinkfloyd
- wait, where's monopinkfloyd
- The little 3robotron3k
- yes, I think the numbers are too bigmonospaced
- just my opinion ... I prefer to give the watch hands the hierarchy visually over the numbers themselvesmonospaced
- A favorite watch of the rare Albino Gorillarobotron3k
- I like the big numbers. It actually bugs me when the numbers are too small. I think it's a handsome watch, but I would prefer numbers for 6 and 9 as well.nocomply
- I'm the opposite. I don't even require numbers, like most people, as the hands dictate the time and you already know what the numbers are.monospaced
- Funnily, if I were to have any numbers, it would have to be the cardinal points: 12, 3, 6 and 9. The others seem overkill to me.monospaced
- I have this one, but with metal strap. Wear it daily since 2009 and stil like it.Longcopylover
- Does it feel flashy or is it under the radar?pinkfloyd
- Not flashy at all I think. It's balanced in size and colour and fits every outfit from casual to business. Most people don't recognize the brand at first sight.Longcopylover
- pinkfloyd1
- Yay if you don't mind no date function.mandomafioso
- I don't mind that as much. The snowflake hands bug me a bit, and I would prefer a blue bezelpinkfloyd

- $3,575 what? Pesetas?Maaku
- upon further review, nay for mepinkfloyd
- can't go wrong with the black bay... i personally prefer the clunkiness of the pelagos.showpony
- pinkfloyd0
- no but that strap makes it look like a Gucci clone.fooler
- A bit. Hands and day are very different.mandomafioso
- Strap can be changedpinkfloyd
- I think it does, but there are so many that have the pseudo diver look...formed
- Rolex' Submariner is an Omega and Blancpain clone. This Seiko looks like a Seiko to me.gonzalle
- There's nothing pseudo-diver about it, it's a Seiko diver's watch, a 7000 series by the looks of it.ben_
