it was so shot from so fkn closeby.
the viewer knows whats going to happen and that both towers will go down.
But they remain at the spot till the very last minute and theres this firefighterchief who points them out a way to get out of the building who dies a couple minutes laterand thats the way it goes
one minute youre there the other minute youre dead.

"theres this firefighterchief who points them out a way to get out of the building who dies a couple minutes later "
i will never EVER forget that shot of him hopelessly looking up, thinking something like 'this is an impossible disaster for us'...
and the shots on the stairs with firemen still going up minutes before the collapse..

I was getting up that morning to pack with the friend I was moving to Chicago with. (lived in Dallas-Ft. Worth suburbs then)
My mom called hysterical from her office in Dallas saying either "They're crashing planes into the WTC," or "There "are" planes crashing..."
She always has a small tv at work but that day she did not for some reason.
I remember calling the friend I was moving with to tell him to go to the TV, but he didn't believe us, told us we were kidding around. I remember the biggest "Holy Sh--!" from him when he finally saw we were not joking around.
All I wanted to do was sit in front of the TV, but we had to pack all day.
It was very weird to be moving the the third largest city in the US.

that documentary as said before is carved in my memory for•ever.
i remember a short piece of video shot from an office in one of the neighbouring towers of the second impact and you can this woman say OH MY GOD.
the treble in her voice made me go goose bumps.i was so relieved that the new yorkers withstanded that power outage so well. seems like they are hardened.
- 4cY0
that is very true, BXCAR.
i think NewYorkers are a unique breed of city-people for that matter.

4cy, After work on 9/11 I went to my moms house with her gifts and she was crying in the living room watching TV. it was horrible. I had brought a few pints with me, so my mom and I drank all of them and hit a pub in her neighborhood. she's a pretty cool ol' lady. She has gone through alot with her health in the past year, so Im not sure we will be drinking any pints tomorrow ;)

i remember that night, it was completely silent in the streets near my friends house (which are usually quite noisy by lots of passing people..)
when i cycled to him at night i saw a bunch of asian(chinese) exchange students publicly laughing there asses off outside and having a good time... same for some tourists in restaurants here and there.. it appeared they knew nothing about the whole tragedy at all. some people never watch the news!
(note for US readers: it was late afternoon here in NL when the horror happened)...

it was strange here. I live about 80 miles from chicago in milwaukee (beer, harley davidson, happy days for the europeans) The streets were super quiet for a while and then it seemed like there was just an explosion of people out in the streets downtown after about noon. Guys on the corner selling extra editions of newspapers and that sort of thing. it was very weird. I was talking to a friend yesterday and he said that it is imossible for him to go one day wothout thinking about that fateful day (especially when it is also mama's birthday), I agree with him.
- 4cY0
...but you should celebrate her birthday. and enjoy the life you still have.
so many people that lost relatives and friends that day.
even here on NT.

the band AIR was playing that particular night in Brussels and my (ex)girlfriend was going no matter what. Security at all levels with NATO HQ as one of the next possible targets.
i said this little thing to myself about how stupid it was to go to BXL now but all it was was plain paranoia. have that tendencyNATO and American Embassy still under high security nowadays, when i say high i mean lots of automatic rifles and barbed wire and armor cars on the outside of the building
- 4cY0
i know, BXCAR..
i passed NATO headquarters a few times last summer... me and my friend always try to see the weak spots there... and imagined you could come quite far with a very heavily armored shovel.... (but not too far probably..).
but yeah, it looks like they expect an attack any day.
you live in Brussels or Antwerp, BXCAR?

That documentary was great.
But was it in that one where you got to see the second crash from the roof of nearby building, and somebody says, very calmly, "shit dude... thats some terrorist shit yo..."
I'll never forget that.. doh!
- JazX0
I hear you Rob, if I saw those types there would have been a serious can of whoop-ass opened up. Bricks flying and all. ;) This is a stupid thread actually, back to fun stuff and design.
- 4cY0
no ladyvipb..
but you make me curious.
you see (real life!) another plane hitting a skyscraper in front of you, and all you say is CALMLY: "shit dude, that's some terrorist shit yo.." ????
gee...
