September 11th makes you realise what people in some countries have to live through every single day.

Americans are rich,

hang on, i didn't intend to submit that.
I have to wonder that if those planes flew into a run down housing area wheather they'd be so much fuss made about it.

You people belittling the tragedy of that day should watch the PBS Documentary on NYC done by Ric Burns to learn a little perspective.
- Blofeldt0
How is putting the World Trade Centre attacks into a global context belittling them?
Do you feel that because when compared to floods in Bangladesh, or the AIDS crisis in Africa, or ethnic cleansing in Yugoslavia and Cambodia the 9/11 attacks are not the single most horrific event in the world's recent history.

JazX It's the money that gets the fuss made. Not much money in South Africa. Twin Towers were the heart of the NY Fincial district.

Yeah you got that right, the UN is a crock-of-shit in my opinion. Yeah, right we support the worlds hungry and poor, the fuck you do, what happens when people are being slaughtered in a place where there aren't much resources. They don't show up until it's too late. Cowards!

what's tragic about 911 is that people took the lives of thousands by their own hands...
this wasnn't a natural catastrophy or an epidemic...
and not to say that people killed by those causes don't deserve respect, it's just that it's haunting to think that anyone would voluntarily take the lives of so many innocent people in such a dramatic way. for some it's still impossible to comprehend. i think this is one of the reasons it's garnered so much media coverage.

As horiffic as they were, the attacks on Srpt 11th were not
"the single most horrific event in the world's recent history"
- JazX0
Blofeldt you couldn't be more correct. 9/11 is nothing, NOTHING compared to what goes one elsewhere, it just happened to happen in the #1 superpower, so it's big headlines. Not that I am dissing those people in WTC, because they shouldn't have had to die innocently. :)

Mitsu, by ignoring starving and disease ridden nations and spending billions on space travel, is there that much difference between the two?
- surfito0
i miss new york.
:(
- JazX0
no there is no difference, StyleJunky.
- JazX0
you know what I mean
- mitsu0
"by ignoring starving and disease ridden nations and spending billions on space travel, is there that much difference between the two?"
well that depends on wheather you see it as the US's obligation to feed starving nations or help the diseased and wheather they are fullfilling that obligation to you satisfactions (or whoever's satisfaction is to be meet)
regardless, that is much different than the US going to those starving countries and dropping bombs on them... and yes i know i just opened myself up with that statement... but i think you get my point :)

the only reason people see the eventws at WTC differently is that it effected the world because there were people from all over the world in those 2 buildings. Thats the reason it is such a big thing.
yes people die all over the world and everyone deserves the respect. i'm sick of the shit in this world
- JazX0
yeah, sure not only people that were born in USA died in that.
- mrdobolina0
also, why is it not britain's, france's, germany, spain, denmark, russia, and every other country on the planet's responsibility to do something about it?
