I'm getting Mickey 17 flashbacks from this over-the-top trailer, and not in a good way.
The smaller-scale story title trailer earlier this year had gotten me more excited. We'll see!- yeah WTF, it's like two totally different movies. I thought the original teaser was about a dude that digs graves for the cartels or something wacky._niko
- I like how Innaritu is all in on his surreal comedic angle. I even liked Bardo so i guess I'm a real fan. revenant feels like an anomaly in the oeuvre now !DaveO

Tuesday I fly to Japan to be with my family - who've been there for almost three weeks. It's weird/nice/lonely/pleasant/sad/f... to be away from them for so long but it reinforces the old cliche that absence does indeed make the heart grow fonder. I'll spend two weeks with them, and our big adventure will be a trip to Okinawa with some scuba diving thrown in. I truly miss my wife and boys. We facetime twice a day but the boys are distracted and the experience drifts between engaged and TOTALLY NOT PAYING ATTENTION.
Tonight I feast. Baked sweet potatoes (SEAN ASTIN GIF), and a skirt steak on the grill with an arugula, cucumber and bermuda onion salad. A splash of reposado tequila and a fantastic local IPA chaser to get the appetite going and I foresee an early bedtime.
