When I superficially judge people I don't know according to their social media profiles, it's not so much that i'm critical of what they post, but it's the feeling I get that they are comfortable to openly share their life and what they post is all they have to say.

They have nothing to hide and use their freedom of speech to its full capacity. What you see is what you get, and it gets old fast.
Blank profiles at least offer some hope and mystery.

    Not that i'm any better.

Also, for "comment of the day" Sean A writes:
"The sad truth is the majority of people on this planet have no idea what the hell is going on or what they want. Everyone is floating around and sleep riding their emotional roller coaster."

After more then ten years using several Wacom Bamboo models and no mouse until one year ago where I restarted using it for specific work, I can't get used to my new Intuous...feels like either pulling or pushing the thing and it feels fucking heavy.

When I want to click say for example a new tab in browser it seems to stop short before the tab and then starts slightly like flickering...

    Hardware issues?
Sometimes nothing else is connected and it still happens.

My German girlfriend (actually half Italian, half Croatian - but Deutsche born and bread) who happens to be the most stunning, and pure, kind, and happy, ridiculously beautiful being I've probably ever had the pleasure of meeting is having to move back to Germany for the most amazing job opportunity. It sucks, for sure, but I'm finding myself in the very odd situation of questioning my own humanity - as I feel zero emotion towards it. At all.

I'm theoretically sad, theoretically in my head it's fucking dire concept, but I don't feel it. I've had just the best few years with her, we never argue or really have any negativity ever, it's been great. She's a perfect girlfriend free from emotional trauma that mess manifests in drama on the relationship. The ideal girl. Genuinely.

I don't think I know what love really is in the sense that people use it in relationships. I tend to think what most people call love in that instance is just addiction. I have true love for this girl, but I have no sadness or emotion towards her leaving in any way. I feel like that should be weird but it didn't feel it. She wants to continue a long distance relationship but I don't see that working for any length of time, and frankly I wouldn't want to hold her back in her life over there. I know we'll stay friends at the very least, forever.

I do fear that once she's gone it'll kick in severely, and I know I'll miss her like mad, but right now I'm quite looking forward to a complete change in my life. I have lots of creative business ideas that I feel pretty passionately about and am getting to the stage with the guitar and writing that I'm looking forward to making the music that's been hiding inside me for so many years. Fuck me that's sounds lame. Life seems so positive and full of potential right now.

I guess I'm hoping that I'm indeed not a psychopath free of emotion but rather a positive realist. I guess I also slightly fear that once she's gone the dark emotional storm will roll in, but right now fuckin' happy days my lovely qbn sunbeams.

30 something years old and i stuff my days with work and my home life consists of playing with fish tanks and or random things like painting my apartment walls alone. Not being the bar/club type doesn't help fight being alone all the time but regardless if I was that type I wouldn't spend my weeknights dropping $20 on a single drink to sit at a bar counter by myself when I can buy a $20 bottle and get plastered at home. Plus the women are usually the last type of girl i'm looking for. I've dated people in other states, been catfish'd a couple times, been relationships that could have ended in being married but usually i'm cheated on. I swear in the past 10 years I've dated 2 people and both weren't worth my time.

People tell me i need to get on tinder, POF, OKC etc. To me that shit is a waste of time (i gave it a go and its a waste of time). In my early 20s i met women from working at a Trader Joes and it was pretty solid. I left shit jobs like that to get into web development something worthy of a career but now its like i dont have time for shit anymore and i settle for chatting with people i haven't seen in ten years or people who are not even in the same state.

    bitter.

    • Usually men did all the chasing and did the gentlemanly thing and asked a woman out. Now that’s changed and we can’t be arsed doing all the chasing!Ianbolton
    • I don't understand people's issue with the dating apps. You mentally swipe left or right with people in a bar. If you both like the look of eachother..set
    • .. and one of you has the bollocks to make a move, you start talking to each other. Same concept with the app. It's no more shallow or empty than meeting..set
    • ...in real life. I had a lot of fun on tinder years back. Met some really lovely and very interesting people.set
    • If it works for you, cool. Not everyone's programmed the same though, and some find it quite ghastly, as I do.detritus
    • Yea I know. Why?set
    • Because I'm not programmed that way? It's a largely unanswerable query, especially in tiny little notes here - "why do you not?"detritus
    • OP says he's tried them, they don't work for him and implied a hesitation to use them further - I merely provided a counter datum to let him know it's ok to notdetritus
    • Yea but whyset
    • I think I already explained why I do not, to be fair...set
    • It's only an unanswerable query if you simply have an opinion without really knowing why. Which is odd.set
    • It's 'ghastly' to older folk in the same way that shopping online is, or browsing the internet on a train is. Or sending an email rather than a postcard is.set
    • That's because they're not programmed that way. But that's not a justifiable answer, it's just called being stuck in your ways without any beneficial reason...set
    • If that's your reason, then fine, I get it, but don't try and pretend it's a justifiable viewpoint when you simply can't justify it.set
    • I'm antagonistic even when I try not to be, but there's no other way of responding to that, really.set
    • You assume too much, as often. I've always been this way — most (not all) people I've been with have been people I've known for at least a wee while.detritus
    • I find that format of intamcy much more.. intimate, and therefore worthwhile. As I say, do wtf you like - not my business. Just that shit's not for all peopledetritus
    • So your pushing such modes is as bad, if not worse than simply encouraging people to be comfortable with themselves and live as they wish.detritus
    • You're the only pushing the idea that it's ghastly. I'm simply asking why you think that...set
    • In my day it was getting pissed and going out on 'the pull' - these days there's an app for that. I'm not against the app per se, rather the base fuckery.detritus
    • Knowing someone first and forming a further intimacy based on an already existing relationship is amazing, no one is denying that...set
    • See? it's a pain iin the ass to try and distill a complex answer into these little notes, hence why I'd rather not have bothered. I needn't, either.detritus
    • ... but you still met that person in the first place, so you can still meet a person on an app like tinder and form the same type of relationship.set
    • You're the one making assumptions on what people might do with their encounters created using an app, and you're the one blanket labelling it as ghastlyset
    • I think it's perfectly reasonable to ask for an explanation of that slightly odd behaviour that is very reminiscent of OAP's irrational aversion to technologyset
    • An app is SIMPLY another opportunity to meet someone. What you do with that opportunity once you have it is up to you. Calling it ghastly is bonkers.set
    • I'm not trying to be a cunt, it just seems like an incredibly archaic and small minded stance to take. *shrugs*set
    • For someone who claims to be so open minded, you seem to find it hard to accept that people are allowed their own countering viewpoints.detritus
    • I think some stuff is ghastly — so fuck? I'm not demanding anyone else think that, I'm just giving my opinion on the matter. Not everyone thinks as you do.detritus
    • And, again - i couldn't fuck about the app per se - meeting someone and fucking them in one fell stroke's as old as time. I just don't see any value in it.detritus
    • ..personally.detritus
    • hah, I didn't see your last "small minded" note - sorry, I tend to view you as small-minded - you have a hard time accepting opinions outwith your own.detritus
    • And you have a high capacity for polarising inputs wihilst at the same time muddying output, which is ..well.. tedious to engage with.detritus
    • Damn you're defensive.set
    • Some people use it to meet and fuck. Others use it to meet and form very meaningful relationships.set
    • I only have a hard time accepting opinions that differ to mine when the person is unable to properly explain them. Saying 'I'm wired that way' is like...set
    • ...answering with 'because'.set
    • Well, you're mostly offensive.detritus
    • You're welcome to think whatever you like is ghastly, and you're welcome to have no reason whatsoever for that, but you're acting as if it's an opinion based...set
    • ...on sound reason and rationale. Yet you're unable to provide any of that rationale whatsoever.set
    • I haven't been offensive at all. I guess you take offence to someone who doesn't accept 'because' as a reason for such a strong opinion.set
    • I wasn't going to respond again, but - I did answer, but you're too self-involved with whatever pointless ego-inflating crusade you're on today to have noticed.detritus
    • Uh, listen to yourself. You replied, and I COMMENTED ON IT, and said that you can have those exact types of relationships having met through an app.set
    • You're the only one totally missing things because you're too blindsided by your idea that I'm a just an antagonistic cunt.set
    • You're making assumptions about the way the app can be used, mainly that it is only used for one thing, which is ridiculous. It's just another way to make...set
    • ....initial contact. What people do with that is infinite and wonderful. Grandad's shitting on the internet again.set
    • Offensive: "pertaining to offense or attack, used above in direct response to your use of defensive. Do keep up.detritus
    • "I'm antagonistic even when I try not to be" - set, above, not 20 minutes ago.detritus
    • See how you expect inputs one way then output in exactly the same fashion, yet don't see the total disconnect?detritus
    • Perhaps I am making certain assumptions about the way these apps are used - but the apps are indeed mostly used for quick leg-overs. Personally, mi no gusto.detritus
    • Now you're focusing on something else because it's been made very obvious that your opinion on these apps is small minded and archaic.set
    • Some people use it as a quick leg over. A guy in this office went on one tinder date, bought a house with her and had a baby last month.set
    • I know of plenty of people who have deep meaningful relationships that met on a dating app. It's JUST another way of making initial contact.set
    • To call that ghastly because some people use it for a quick shag is fucking archaic, small minded and reminiscent of OAP's opinions of the internet.set
    • Just admit it.set
    • I don't know what the focus is here other than you and your constant need to espouse your youness. It's quite dull, but here we are.detritus
    • Actually I have the constant need to expose and correct small minded bullshit opinions.set
    • Which yours obviously was here, and the fact you're now trying to focus on anything but that, simply shows you're very much aware of it too.set
    • I'm sorry that my opinion on how I live my life and how I view life is wrong, set.
      You win?
      detritus
    • or by admitting false defeat am I denying you further opportunity to self-aggrandise and belittle strangers on the internet?
      You win?
      detritus
    • I'm sure all this is helping pockets, regardless.detritus
    • lol. I'm sorry you feel belittled 'cos your opinion on something that changes and benefits so many people's lives as being ghastly was exposed..set
    • ... as being small minded, bullshit grandad mentality.set
    • Not only that but you were warning people away from it. Now that's ghastly.set
    • I don't feel belittled by you — but constantly calling people 'small minded' is inherently belittling.detritus
    • Now, read back through this mess and tell me who's defensive? Tell me who is unable to accept opinions other than their own?
      You win? What, exactly?
      detritus
    • Calling dating apps ghastly because you incorrectly think they're mainly used for one night stands is incredibly small minded. Facts is facts.set
    • I think tindr is ghastly.
      Am I wrong?
      detritus
    • ..and warning people away from something that could change their lives for the better, simply because you have an archaic viewpoint on it, is ghastly...set
    • You're clinging on for dear life when you really should have admitted you were being small minded towards it at least 25 notes ago.set
