This sadly will never end in America.

A Black man who had run naked through the streets of a western New York city died of asphyxiation after a group of police officers put a hood over his head, then pressed his face into the pavement for two minutes, according to video and records released Wednesday by the man's family.

    • this is some KKK shit right hereMilan
    • this is some abu ghraib shit right here_niko
    • I was just reading about this. For the pigs, a mental health 'wellness check' means guns and restraining someone. Or just flat out killing them.face_melter
    • Haha the guy thanks them for the spit bag. Fuckin pcp and the guy spitting saying he has covid. And guy didn't just die as breathingdeathboy
    • It was pcp cause as well. Even medic on scene said as much. Not exactly sure what you should do with a naked man on pcp yelling give me your gun.deathboy
    • Curious if they just club him everyone he tries to stand on instead.knocking him out would prevent the delirium a bitdeathboy
    • Or just an example of poor life decisions and possible outcomes of decisions...deathboy
    • poor life decisions? I'd love you explain your black and white view of the world in more detail. It sounds amazing.Ianbolton
    • uh what? doing pcp and running around naked and out of control your fam and friends need to call backup cause they cant handle it.deathboy
    • i dont do that shit. looks like a good way to end up dead or in prison. latter probably worse. death before anal rape here!deathboy
    • Congrats on winning scumbag Piece of shit award .. deathboy.
What a giant gaping asshole you are.
      Ramanisky2
    • Well ram I concede my award to you. For being a piece of shit scumbag caller for insults without reason for whateverdeathboy
    • In context I guess u think I'm a piece of shit for being a response human avoiding cops. Especially anal rapedeathboy
    • Or I'm an asshole for pointing out factual points from video. And questioning what could have been a better response. Didn't see any critics on better handle odeathboy
    • So being a reasonable person makes u so upset to insult me with made up awards... Really it's u pal that has earned it. Congratsdeathboy

The few bad cops make all the good cops’ jobs much more difficult and dangerous. Society needs all the good cops to force the police union to deal with bad cops. Via strike? Marching? Union bosses won’t learn this on their own. Individual good cops can’t affect change because they too fear for their jobs and lives. We need all the good cops to stand together and demand that police be charged and tried when they break the law.

    • If a cop robbed a bank or stole a car or burned down a building or committed fraud, we wouldn’t hesitate to charge them.nb
    • That is at the core of the issue.monospaced

    • When she says white privilege, she means wasp privilege for the most part and those motherfuckers earned it. Through murder and conquest they earned it_niko
    • Through invention and innovation they earned it. Through relentless work and effort they earned it. We don’t have to like them in fact most of us hate them_niko
    • But they got to this point in the world by earning it. Nobody gave them anything, now the question is, how do we catch up and become better?_niko
    • "Nobody gave them anything?!?" Except for lenient sentences, sympathetic laws, and an explicit bias, but yeah, let's all catch up...ya missed the nuance, huh?whatthefunk
    • They got to the point of being able to be lenient to one another have sympathetic laws. They help their own kind they can do whatever the fuck they want_niko
    • And until that system and the wasps in power are overthrown it will continue to be that way. Step up and take them down_niko
    • Well said _niko. Don't be the victim.Morning_star

Watching someone drive by the Graceland graffiti on facebook, the red, green, orange, purple graffiti that covers most of the walls and is making the news has obviously been done in one pass of 3 or 4 people late at night - it also seems like nearly all white people arrested after the original protest dissipated... bizarrely the QAnon hijacked #saveourchildren hashtag mixed in there. Incredible stupidity or a fix-up?

    Something smells fucky

    • insane the vitriol you can unleash with just a few tins of paint even on the most vandalised wall in america. apparently it's all cleaned off already.kingsteven

    Kenosha barricades against BLM

Change my mind: People fearing for their homes will vote for Trump. The irony of BLM is that unpolitical lemmings, who are spectating from the sidelines now want more police in the streets. The best re-election campaign for Trump.

    • Well keep in mind this is one part of one town with a population of 100k people, in a country of 330 million. Most people aren't experiencing this.yuekit
    • Also is it rational to vote for Trump to end civil unrest and protests? Seems almost certain that if he is reelected situation will get much worse.yuekit
    • Is it rational he was elected in the first place? 80% of population are practically raw material for compost industry, absolutely senseless biomass.drgs
    • people don't need to experience it first-hand, the message is that this is coming to your town. Often small towns with few immigrants vote for politiciansFax_Benson
    • with toughest immigration stance because they're told they're next. This isn't even reappropriation of wealth, it's just burning stuff.Fax_Benson
    • conspiracy theory: Brionna Taylor, George Floyd etc. were a political hit to drum up unrest and fear for Trump's election campaignProjectile
    • I think in this case it's a danger for Democrats mainly because it's happening in Wisconsin, and that is one of the swing states they want to win. Butyuekit
    • I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that this will be the deciding issue of the election considering everything else that is going on in the world, or that ityuekit
    • will automatically convince people to vote for Trump when he seems to be making things worse.yuekit

We should fire every cop and make them reapply for their job with stricter requirements and additional training. Don’t re-hire problem officers

Defund means to address the police collars for dollars campaign. In an effort to make double and triple overtime many cops will make an arrest at the end of their shift forcing them to work additional hours processing the arrest.

Everyone who works in criminal law, from judges to prosecutors to defense attorneys and defendants, knows that police love overtime. A simple arrest, if done at the right time of their shift (toward the end), could gain cops eight or more hours of overtime and thus is far more worthwhile than making an arrest at the beginning of a tour.

“Collars for dollars” is a dangerous practice for several reasons. First, people get arrested who shouldn’t have been, just because police are looking for overtime hours. Next, arresting people without probable cause makes cops lie. Once a person is arrested, police must swear in an official court document called a “complaint” that what they say happened actually happened. Sometimes the lying is incidental — like passing an arrest to a partner because he needs the overtime more or has greater availability the upcoming week to go to court. In such a case, one cop tells the other what he saw, then the second cop swears he saw it also and “takes the arrest.”

Do we need a cop for a mental health call, do we need 3 cars to roll up at a traffic stop for teenagers, do we really need a swat team to show up when dudes are skateboarding?!?!? Defund means to curtail this excess spending of tax dollars...

    https://abovethelaw.com/2018/03/…

    • Cops are cunts all over. I worked for the fiscal in Scotland and dealt with them daily. Lying, conniving, mendacious, motherfuckers to a man. Every single one.face_melter

After so much “law and order” talk and condemnation of protesters, why does Trump defend Rittenhouse?

What other answer is there other than a racist bias?

All Trump supporters who do not call him out on this are either racist themselves or complicit.

Shame on all who support Trump. They don’t know the first thing about what it means to be American.

    • The Republican support for the baseheads is almost as wonky as their support for Trump - it's a cyclical web of dysfunctional party supportwhatthefunk
    • I don't get why he doesn't just shut the fuck up about it and not wade in either way. I mean, I do, but I'm still naively incredulous.Nairn
    • Don has always been a racist cunt. The mask came fully off with the Central Park Five case. Which he still thinks are guilty.face_melter

    Abolish police?
    Shut down STEM?

Are people serious about doing this or is it just some symbolic call to arms that highlights historical racism?

And, has the Mayor of Portland really defunded the police to the tune of $15million?

How is this a good thing?

    • There was a photo of some white girl in LDN at the failed BLM march at the weekend with a placard saying "Defund the police". Like.. what? Here?Nairn
    • Thoughtless regurgitating drones, the lot of them.Nairn
    • some book called In Defense of Looting was doing the rounds over the weekend. Trump only needs a handful of obliging idiots to make his case for himFax_Benson
    • Reallocation of funds to community support services is how it’s a good thing.nb
    • I understand that NB but that still leaves a police problem. How would that have saved George Floyd from dying during his arrest?Morning_star
    • i think the talk of defund the police came after police beat up protesters with military gears. causing permanent injury.pango
    • multiple people lost their eyes.pango
    • Surely that is a training issue, no? And would be solved by investing in the police?Morning_star
    • Not a big fan of Cops or Biden, but it was a smart strategy for him to not fall into the defunding the police rabbit hole12xu
    • Biden was in large part responsible for the state of modern policing, for better or worse.MondoMorphic

    • @shape Yeah, Portugal was a linchpin in the Atlantic Slave trade. What's your point?garbage
    • Wasn't a point, it was a 'did you know?' because until recently I wasn't aware of it. There's no museum in Lisbon etc. Unlike UK with William Wilberforce house.shapesalad
    • possibly because they had multiple revolutions, dissolved all colonial control and legalised drugs. where we're ruled by the slave owners' direct descendantskingsteven

    • haha, well you guys still ahead of the rest of the world on that.kingsteven
    • Ah, I see. I thought it was some justification for American slavery, in a "um they had them too". I've seen people legitimately try to make that argument.garbage
    • Hey everyone it's okay to be violent because the south went to War to keep slaves.cannonball1978
    • Hey everyone. When someone wants to keep slaves, make sure to protest peacefully.pango
    • Hey everyone, if you want to protest slavery, go to country that still actually practices it!Gnash
    • Isn't the American Prison System basically a form of corporate slavery?Nairn
