Ah the people have spoken... and now they are going to have to pay for it. Utter farse.
- what's that saying? "you need to crack a couple eggs to make an omelet"chukkaphob
- Just that our cost of borrowing will likely go up and the people of the UK will pay for that directly or indirectly.fadein11
- I think its pretty clear that the Uk is being used as an example at this point.yurimon
- but again, the pain will be temporary, not permanent.chukkaphob
- Is the goal in life to have it easy, or to do it right?chukkaphob
- The 08 recession was temporary but countless thousands still lost their jobs, homes and retirement funds.i_monk
- Most economists seem to think they will be permanently worse off due to reduced trade with nearby countries. Remains to be seen though.yuekit
- If england can keep a decent interest rate with a lowered pound it would do ok with money seeking to invest and with exporting.yurimon
- "England" - United Kingdom you mean?fadein11
- yuri visited England and knows what he's talking about okay?monospaced
- mono is jealous because i understand economics.yurimon
- But not geography.face_melter
- meh it was a typo in haste. next.yurimon
- hey everyone, yuri understands economics and is being a condescending cunt telling me I am jealous of him! what a little bitchmonospaced

- "trumping?"sarahfailin
- mmm it's the largest amount of money, sure... but that was 1987. In terms of percentages, is it still bad? (genuine question)Projectile
- Well, yeah, it's still very bad. I mean, basically when someone is saying something is worse than "Black _______" you know it's probably quite bad.********
- sarahfailin0
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/06/2… Some British have no "bregrets" even though they will be among the most adversely affected.
"I don't have any money in the stock market," Mr. Walker, 59, said as he drank a pint of beer in a pub. "So what's it to me?"
- < yup that's the mentality of the fucking muppets that voted LeaveProjectile
- The cost of a pint will go up and he'll blame the government.i_monk
- ********4
3,896,573 signatures for a second referendum
- lol, basically keep voting till you get your desired result. dumocracyyurimon
- @yuri, the petition was started by a leave voter...kingsteven
- ^ ...before the actual vote took placeProjectile
- thats not the point.yurimon
- When something like this was led by a massive lie and is a few percentage points, I'd say you've got just causeformed
- Lefties were too busy loving themselves on Twitter and forgot to vote hahaDillinger
- @formed - exactly.fadein11
- but what if someone like fadein only wants one type of result no matter what the voting outcome. what do we do then?yurimon

Brexit Is Only the Latest Proof of the Insularity and Failure of Western Establishment Institutions
- Thanksdetritus
- Great article.MrT
- Fuck yeah Glenn Greenwald.********
- Jeezus this guy can make assumptions and likes to lead on it. But can't even clearly explain "western establishment institutions"********
- very krugman style. im glad he touched on the media. I have been curious why the media has had such hostility. I think he missed it. But good to point out.********
- interesting - although his source material does seem to undermine the point he's making slightly.Fax_Benson

Yup I'm hearing big agencies are starting redundancies. Freelance enquiries are patchy. One of my recruiters are getting nervous. I know some top freelancers sitting on their hands right now.
But at least we might get our sovereignty back in a few years, amen to that lol.
I keep hearing Adam Curtis's voice in the Bitter Lake documentary when he keeps saying 'nothing makes sense'.
- Fax_Benson1
I wouldn't have a clue about big business / finance but I doubt that there will be major redundancies / business flight until we actually invoke this article50, and the whole thing starts to move.
The EU can't even tell us to hurry up until a decision is formally made by the UK to inform the EU that we wish to invoke A50. At the moment the referendum means nothing to anybody in a legal sense.
- A friend's brother's chain of estate agents immediately let 9 people go as a result of Brexit. Mind you, Estate Agents, so good riddance.detritus
- Yeah, I guess standing still and doing nothing is fear enough.Fax_Benson
- this guy has been looking at the legalities of A50. Might have been posted elsewhere
https://next.ft.com/…Fax_Benson - ah, shit, that's the paywall versionFax_Benson
- http://jackofkent.co…Fax_Benson
- Who has the balls to invoke and then lead the country through the mess of rewriting 1000's of laws and agreements - I doubt anyone.fadein11
- I agree with what you were saying by the way - if that wasn't clear.fadein11
- actually, the looming threat is just as bad, isn't it.Fax_Benson
- we're fucked, we just don't know how or whenFax_Benson
- soon and foreverFax_Benson
- Well Europe is fucked as well so we're fucked and ultimately heading towards death anyway. I'm off to enjoy myself at the pub.********
- that's as rational an idea as I've heardFax_Benson
- I haven't stopped drinking since the result ha... we truly are fucked. And all because of some big lies made by the leave camp now retracted. Scumbags... Thisfadein11
- one isn't gonna blow over unfort. More very nasty incidents of race/hate crimes today as well.
(Awaits Yurimon's "they are all made up by the pro globalistsfadein11 - fuckwit response)fadein11
- listen you can find out so much about what going on. Find out for yourself. you dont have to listen to me but put a 100% effort.yurimon
- I don't ever listen to you. Why would I? You can't string a sentence together.fadein11
- ok dont listen to me dont try to figure the truth out. continue on your cuntly path of false beliefs, and your path least resistance if it works for you.yurimon
- condescending bitch of a little troll cunt, againmonospaced
- anything that makes you think outside your comfort zone is condescendingyurimon
- nope, the only thing condescending is you thinking you are worth listening to and constantly insisting that everyone here does, despite your complete idiocymonospaced
- fail again, you little, stupid piece of shitmonospaced
- Yurimon makes sense 50% of the time but sheeple automatically ignore. Conditioning********

Sky News political editor Faisal Islam tweeted
"MP tells me UK academics being asked to take name off funding applications for joint research grants by European colleagues post Brexit "
This is going to be uber shit for UK universities
- That's utterly retarded********
- ^ how is it retarded - if not part of the EU then surely not eligible. Not good at all - the fallout will be everywhere. The 52% hadn't really thought thisfadein11
- through.fadein11
- Surely not eligible?********
- Besides, we haven't even left yet..********
- How can UK scientists apply for EU grants (joint or not) if no longer part of the EU?fadein11
- If the EU is a dictatorship bent on power it would be vindictive to the UK if it exits. There is more harm for the UK to do well independently to the poweryurimon
- structure than it is for the UK to fail. so you will get your answer on the intent via action. If you create an economic environmen for prosperity then you dontyurimon
- need those grants.yurimon
- Yuritroll - we have had 8 years of austerity post 2008 crash - no grants (non-private) kicking about unfort pal.fadein11
- why are you defending a bad system. the whole thing was going to go down anyway this gives a good blame distraction anywayyurimon
- yurimon, again you have no idea what you are talking about. The EU hasn;t instructed any academic to exclude UK researchers. The problem is some projects last..lowimpakt
- 4-5 years and the uncertainty means scientists are unwilling to risk longer term viability of projects.lowimpakt
- fadein11, UK scientists, if article 50 enacted, could still become partners in EU funded projects. Loads of non-EU countries can. The issue is that the...lowimpakt
- Yurimon didn't say for a second that the EU instructed anyone to exclude UK researchers...********
- eligibility criteria are harder (no automatic eligibility) and the funding amounts can be lesslowimpakt
- ... and we haven't left the EU yet, and may still not. That is why it is retarded.********
- also what projects to choose.yurimon
- most of these conversations are as if you guy left if you haven't noticed. taking up inventory. etcyurimon
- guise, yurimon went to england once, he KNOWS what he's talking aboutmonospaced
- mono, you always complain about trolling yet you can stop yourself from being one. if you can add something to the convo then dont post.yurimon
- yep true we haven't left but it's been made clear that we cannot have our cake and eat it during exit and negotiations if any.fadein11
- Lol mono - he also thinks England is the UK as well. Uber-troll.fadein11
- what ever makes you feel better fadien. However im still lost in why you favor dysfunctional despotic systems to prevail though im sure you would say you favoryurimon
- democracy. but support the opposite.yurimon
- @fadein, I do not, I was simply repeating exactly what yuri stated the other day, that he visited england and knows about the situation as a resultmonospaced
- Everyone on the fucking planet knows that England is a part of the U.K.monospaced
- lol you release that you are arguing against yourselves because i never disputed the england is part of the uk. good to know that a fast typo can lead to suchyurimon
- focused debate against other issues. bravo.yurimon
- your whole existence is a fast typomonospaced
- Mono is on the rag again. i know you are bitter, shallow minded or pretending to be to waist time from real issuesyurimon
- @mono - I was referring to Yurimon!!! I was not referring to you.fadein11
- Someone get rid of this idiot Yurimon... he is a useless waste of space on here. How many strikes has he had so far moderator?fadein11
- @fadein, sorry, misread, you were referring to him :(monospaced
- That's ok - was a bit mortified when I saw you thought I meant you ha!fadein11
- Yuri, when did you visit England? I didn't see you here.Ianbolton
- That's utterly retarded

"The frenetic pace of online media makes even the most recent events feel distant, like ancient history. That, in turn, makes it easy to lose sight of how many catastrophic and devastating failures Western elites have produced in a remarkably short period of time.
...
Even now, Western elites continue to proselytize markets and impose free trade and globalization without the slightest concern for the vast inequality and destruction of economic security those policies generate."
the thing is this is all remarkably complicated and the very media covering the story is also complicit in the narrative so it's double fucked.
- Still good : )MrT
- free trade...without slightest concern for inequality...destruc... of econ sec... if i was a teacher id have to give the paper a D********

I'm sort of wondering if things will get so bad that the irony will be that most of us Brits will flee the country and become migrants ourselves.
