- I just realized he’s not on a phoneGnash
- No he just a grown ass adult using his middle finger to make fun of the asian guy. He was MAGA before there was MAGA.utopian
- This is staged, though. You know, artGnash
- Yes, very staged.nb
- Also, this is from the 80s, I think. So about 35 years of breakthroughs in photographic tech, yet the image quality here is as good as a high-end digital cam.nb
- What isn't staged?utopian
- Well sure you can make that ol' argument but in this case he specifically cast the subjects and told them what to do. It's more staged than most photographs.nb
- This was shot in 2009, NB. more accurately, It’s a re-enacted, photo. This is how Wall works.Gnash
- Fun fact: this image doesn't definitely depict racism. It's possible the single guy was starting rudely at the woman, or maybe they even know each other.nb
- There are lots of possibilities but the viewer applies the story to the image. So if you see pre-MAGA, maybe that's you looking for race, etc. Art!nb
- Exactly, NB. While wall recreates him own memories, he’s fully aware that memories are an illusion as wellGnash
- Love Wallmort_
- Whoa wait, he shot this in 2009? Not possible. Or is it? Now I don't know what to believe.nb
- I remember seeing this before 2009, but definitely possible that my memory isn't accurate. Might be as fake as this photo!!nb
- Wikipedia says 1982nb

- depends on what you want. if you move the light closer to her the background will turn darker.pango
- i personally prefer if you have a white bounce reflector on the left of her so the shadows aren't so hard.pango
- You need some fill on the right, white card or a reflector. You could also try a bigger soft box which will wrap the light around more and give a softer edge..RumperChunk
- Nice job tho for first crack ;)RumperChunk
- thank you. I will try a reflector before adding a second light. I'd like to try and somewhat master the single light setup first.HijoDMaite
- Nothing wrong with it. Both eyes are lit. It's all preferencepango
- Fill is nice. Reduce shadow and gives her left side a bit of outline. You can use 2nd light with same logic.pango
- You can also move the light further away from her. This will make background more lit. Creating out line for her left side again.pango
- i'm sorry, you won't love it:
https://imgur.com/a/…sted - haha the lost shadows? or the red spec thing?HijoDMaite
- yeah was looking for shadows when i noted that red dot :) signature or dead pixel? :Dsted

"Beautiful photos by photographer Travis Gillett from his series “Freedom Behind Bars – Angola Prison Rodeo”. Started in 1964, the Angola Prison Rodeo at Louisiana State Penitentiary provides inmates a moment of freedom. Approximately 75% of inmates at Angola will never leave. Louisiana has the nation’s highest incarceration rate, and is known for tough sentencing. For those here serving time the rest of their days, the rodeo acts as a reminder of life on the other side. See more images below."

Similar kona's last post, I utterly lack the confidence to post anything alongside the amazing work in the 'Show your latest Pics' thread, but I got my Samsung S7 a few days ago, and managed to get out to a few places to take some shots in Andalucía, and wanted to share the ones I was happy with. Only small amounts of cropping and a couple of light processing changes have been done to a couple of them, but I like them enough to share, so here goes:
- nice. where are you?Gnash
- Almería at the moment, moving to Granada at the end of MarchBuddhaHat
- best of luck. I'm sure you'll miss the seaGnash
- Thanks man, I've never lived next to a 3500m mountain range either, so it will just be another experience for me. Besides, Aussie beaches are better :)BuddhaHat
- I would love to visit that area. Wanna do like a wife swap or something? Or house swap like the movie "The Holiday"?HijoDMaite

I'm not sure you'd want the house swap tho, it's freezing like a tomb atm =\BuddhaHat - It's always nice to have a "frame within a frame" especially for landscapes. :)HijoDMaite

If you'd like some serious inspiration and a cool look at drone technology for photography, check out this video of Reuben Wu and his current project Lux Noctis. I featured him on Expedition Bureau a couple years ago, and his work constantly amazes me.

Mamiya 7 w/ 80mm
or
Plaubel Makina 6x7
Taking into consideration, in order:
Image quality
Usability
Portability
Durability
Longevity / repairability- Mamiya is a big boi.
Get this: https://www.youtube.…tank02 - I have the Plaubel Makina, its a beautiful rangefinder. It gets a lot of looks. It def has a learning curve, but totally worth getting if you have found one.jmckinno
- Get that Fuji one, cheaper and 6x9 format ;)tank02
- Image quality on both is amazing, usability on PM takes some getting used to, PM is more portable and durable, PM has better battery lifejmckinno
- ^ crazy, was just about to recommend the gw690 instead. But check the Fuji's 90mm look to make sure it fits your IQ taste.spl33nidoru
- It's a bit of a strange camera, but that 6x9 is well impressive.tank02
- I don’t want 2:3 ratio. My composition is best when I shoot in the ratio that I present. 4x5 or 6x7 is most pleasing.nb
- I have a GW670 actually. It is slightly less impressive than the Mamiya 7 (image quality)nb
- Plaubel is so optically perfect it looks digital to me. Also it's fragile, if its electronics break (which they are known to do), is an expensive brick.inteliboy
- Mamiya is a big boi.

This series "Contacts Vol 1, 2, 3" is one of the best documentaries about art photography ever. So much insight in each little clip by showing contact sheets and just letting the artist talk. Tricky to find all the parts for free in English, though.
