I have a work account but previously had an account with my person email as the contact. Haven't signed into that account for years now, but just got an email from them saying I'd left Adobe Creative Cloud in my cart.

    Figma pdf suckery

So what you need is a proper adobe acrobat, and a custom profile set-up for print and pre-press.
All you need to do is to print that shit to PDF and its going to be fine.

and yeah CMYK is fucked, still. there is no support for spot colors etc.
    overall:
Don't use Figma its a trash product for people who have no fucking idea how to use adobe products and want to design only dumb-fuck templates.

    • I just exported a PDF from Figma, around 200MB, then opened it with Affinity Designer 2, resaved it and it was 75MB
      sRGB colors, but still workable...
      grafician
    • But it's fair to say Figma is for digital product work, should not be used for print work unless you know what u're doing...grafician
    • Also Figma just raised prices, it's time to go back to Sketch ehehehegrafician
    • Even if the Adobe/Figma merger happened I doubt Figma would have gotten spot and offset color support; It's meant for other things, and so was XD.evilpeacock
    • Exactly.grafician
    • also it's built for the browser, I don't think they can implement print features even if they wantedgrafician
    • They could easily incorporate CMYK and profiles but won’t.monospaced
    • Side note: my go-to AI-to-AE importer Overlord now works with Figma — except all my clients give me "read-only" docs to build from, so plugins can't be used.evilpeacock
    • @monospaced again talking about stuff you have no clue, again telling they really can't, they use WebGL as 2D render engine, sRGB+alpha sure, CMYK nografician
    • On the other hand, Sketch - as a native Mac app - could in theory support CMYK profilesgrafician
    • Love Overlord <3PonyBoy
    • I’m aware it’s web app, and that drawing to screen is RGB. Adding a print color space wouldn’t be impossible, as you imply.monospaced
    • Overlord is a great Illustrator plugin. It's comparable to AEC4D-PRO which sends Cinema 4D objects to AE.CyBrainX
    • to be fair Adobe's current spot color support is fucked. they are moving away from being a print friendly ecosystem every day.jonny_quest_lives
    • as mono pointed out getting something from srgb into CMYK isn't hard... it's just a conversion tablejonny_quest_lives
    • Optimizing for specialty print though... extra spot channel/plate, call outs for foil/emboss, varnish callout/platesjonny_quest_lives
    • that's degrees above a simple profile to profile conversionjonny_quest_lives
    • just my 2 centsjonny_quest_lives
    • Why is this in the Adobe thread
      ********
    • sted probably was in rage and couldn't find the Figma thread

    • yeah because i was fucking grafician mothers ass.
      @nb fuck off, that's why:

      sted
    • Small dick energy @sted
Figma is for big boys anyway, no wonder you have problems getting it to work
      grafician
    • lol big boys?monospaced
    • hmm it almost makes me question wtf was my post about and why so many people agree, weird isn't?sted
    • the original objective behind Figma was to enable "anyone [to] be creative by creating free, simple, creative tools in a browser."sted
    • Did it not allow you to be creative
      ********
    • I mean lol at bringing up that mission statement or whatever
      ********
    • lol isn't that from Canva?!grafician

honestly those fucking scammers at adobe get worse and worse

I've been sent an online pdf (at acrobat) with some amends.

FIRST I have to make an account - why the fuck should i have to do that? and give my date of birth? why the fuck do they need that? effing nosey cunts.

THEN I finally get sight of the pdf, lots of yellow speech balloons from the client THAT DON'T SHOW ANY COMMENTS!??!?!?!
a quick goggle reveals i have to scroll through the entire document before the comments load. wtaf?!

AND FOR THIS RETARDED SHIT THEY HAVE THE NERVE TO CHARGE A MONTHLY FEE???!?!?!?!?

yes my blood pressure is abnormally high right now.

fucking shite is what it is. - burn the muthas to the ground, say i.

    • Soon they’ll require that you opt in to using all your designs and docs as AI training material that they’ll sell and give you no royalties
      ********
    • i'm so glad i don't pay those cunts anything. fuck them and their shitty scams.hans_glib
    • Hey Adobe ain’t worth a quarter trillion for nothin’
      ********
    • You couldn’t just use acrobat reader and download the file?monospaced
    • Did you try printing from Figma
      ********
    • Try unplugging the adobe and plugging it back againcherub

Photoshop 2025: wtf is wrong with keeping the legacy Quality slider scale? Why change it?

    They removed the legacy option..
Just let me decide if I want to adjust by percentage or not.
    FUCK YOU, pieces of filth.

  • i_monk3

The last Illy update introduced a bug that changes the font every time you start typing.

    • Wow. That'd be... a touch annoying?
I just checked and here at home at least, I'm still on Illy 2020.

I used to like Adobe, a lot.

But Generative Fill is offline for hours already today. In all versions. Beta and 2025. Thats bad. Really bad.

    • hey, you're paying thru the nose for that service!
      fucking scammers

    • lol "I used to like Adobe" and "my generative fill that didn't exist up until 2 years ago isn't working for few hours and now i gotta do some manual labour"NBQ00
    • "some" manual labour, yeah right. I'm so done with things AI can do 10x better and a 1000x faster.stewart
    • Joking. I need it too earlier and it didn't work.NBQ00

    • And how did you do it 2 years ago?NBQ00
    • 2 years ago, I would have given up on a lot of things I don't now or spent hours cloning, retouching and other various methods of surgery.CyBrainX

Just tested the new Adobe Firefly Video option and it's total horseshit. Completely useless garbage output with tons of crap quality, distortions, morphs or other artefacts and glitches.

I know it's "beta" but they want to already start charging for it. Good luck with that.

    • Agreed. Two free attempts, bullshit output, and then they want to charge double subscription for a handful more. Eek.monospaced
  • CyBrainX0

After Effects collect for output when you should get a folder that's about 500 MB that ends up being 10x that size.

  • Centigrade4

If you choose to stay on even a slightly older version of Photoshop, when you fire it up you can get an "update" popup panel that often is stuck behind the main window and is unclickable - forcing you to quit PS and relaunch again and again and again until you manage to shrink the PS main window before the popup appears.

Happens very regularly on Wacom screens. And because it's not a traditional window either, so you can't get the OS to bring it to the front.

yesterday I got an email saying my subscription to CC will go back up from $30-ish to $60-ish a month starting next month, but on my CC app I noticed a deal to sign up to get everything for $30-ish again, so I did it.

this morning I got an email from my credit card company that I got charged twice at the same time from Adobe for $39.99 each.

you assholes, now i gotta deal with this shit?!?

    • i say it over and over, adobe are nothing but fucking gangster scammershans_glib
    • just like trump, they hold all the cards (ae, acrobat) and use their monopoly to bend everyone to their will.hans_glib
    • I got the same email.fooler
    • you pay 60+ in the end.pango
  • grafician-5

They should introduce a system of credits, instead of a subscription.

You buy $5-10-20 worth of credits at a time.

So you can use all the apps, but just whenever you need them.

2 hours of Photoshop to edit some profile pics this week, maybe 20 hours of Illustrator to design a visual identity, etc.

But they won't because they are greedy and stupid...

    • that's bullshitNBQ00
    • Gee, some people act like $50-60 bucks per mo is a fortune for the entire Adobe CC when you make money with it.NBQ00
    • They have credit plans for Stock

      https://stock.adobe.…
      grafician
    • @NBQ Why pay around 800 euros for apps you don't use at all or very often?

That's a week vacation in Greece somewhere...
      grafician
    • If you're not making money with Adobe CC then you could use Pixelmator or Affinity? Or cracked version as long as you don't use it for work?NBQ00
    • AGAIN what if you "use it for work" $300 out of $800 worth, are you okay with that?grafician
  • Nairn3

    Just got this, lol.

    • Fuck the system!Nairn
    • Raw dogging the aliased type, I see.monospaced

    • It's only the Ai info panel that's aliased, weirdly.Nairn
    • Bringing pixel fonts back in stylegrafician
    • that IS weirdmonospaced
    • Yeah, I checked PS's and it's anti-aliased, as it should be. It's just this one remote corner of my computer rawdogging. I quite like it. I miss pixel fonts.Nairn

lol. opened email this morning to find Adobe quietly announcing they are increasing the monthly subscription by $10 ..
    nope, fuck you

    die and burn

  • Nairn3

^ I've literally just done the annual 'i'm going to quit' theatre with them to keep the reduced monthly rateI've been paying for years now. This year though, they've built it straight into the 'Cancel Plan' pathway, so I didn't have to spend an hour on some bullshit chat thing with them as I have the last few years.

    • Ah I need to cancel too, bumping me from 29.99 to 55.80, awww hell no
Hope they do offer the option to continue at my rate
      spl33nidoru
    • They do, just pretend to cancel after they tell you you have to pay cancellation fees and you'll see the option there.palimpsest
    • Thanks!spl33nidoru
    • The same here, the fucktards make us do the same "quiet quit" every year.utopian
    • They won't let me keep my current rate, $4 increase, better than nothing I guessspl33nidoru
    • They're playing hardball more these days. I imagine creative cloud is losing a ton of seats given the state of the industry, and the new competition from AI.monNom
    • good i hope they fucking choke on all their ill-gotten gains.hans_glib
  • autoflavour0

Also while we are bitching. Fucking wetransfer.. bumped their price $100 and then auto renewed even tho I am 1000% sure I had that shit not to.. and email silence .

Has anyone here actually dropped Adobe completely?

I've never really thought about it, and I haven't minded the monthly expense, but when I do the math over a number of years, the appeal of alternatives to Lightroom, Photoshop, and illustrator suddenly become quite appealing if you can just buy those applications once.

Lightroom is the one thing I have the most significant amount of time invested in. Catalogs push 60,000 images. Lots of custom presets, all the VSCO Film presets. I mostly shoot with Fuji cameras these days so I know that there camera models and settings would be available.

    • I'm considering a switch from Premiere to Resolve (free or one time $300 for more tools).
Which will leave me wondering if I should get rid of Photoshop.
      spl33nidoru
    • Rawtherapee is a good free raw converter. More fully featured than Lightroom. Not as easy.monNom
    • Affinity photo, designer, publisher are roughly equivalent to photoshop, illustrator, indesign. Get all three for $165 USD for a perpetual license.monNom
    • Thanks. Was reading about Affinity products earlier. Related - started using Synology Photos on my NAS and wondering how I can leverage it in place of Lightroommg33
    • You can do raw editing in Affinity photo as well, but it's less fully featured.monNom
    • One thing I've been using a lot in photoshop is the generative fill. This thing is a life saver and would be hard to let go of.spl33nidoru
    • Affinity Photo doesn't have the organizational features of LR though. I'd probably consider Capture One for heavy photo work.mg33

This software extends Krita (PS-like painting software) with AI inpainting. Basicly Gen fill.

    • Krita is quite good for a lot of PS stuff, and
      it's FREEEEEEE
      monNom
    • Nice, will check it, thanks!spl33nidoru
    • Nothing remotely close to AE yet but I probably would if I could.MrT
    • I don't use AE, would love to learn Premiere, but iMovie is fine for my needs.mg33
    • RIP Aperture

    • Blender has a great compositor and animation system (and video editor too). The workflow is different from AE, but you can do a lot in it.monNom
    • Very simple example using textures. You can do 3d or 2.5d in the viewport, and effects in the node compositior. https://www.youtube.…monNom
    • For design I have Affinity and Figma, then I can code my specific scripts in Claude.grafician
    • I pay for Figma and it could definitely do a lot for me that illustrator and Photoshop do.mg33
    • $7500 and countingcanoe
    • I'm sure a combo of apps could get close but working in TV production pipelines, that would be a losing battle. Fuck Adobe.MrT
    • ^ this is the real issue. Network effects. If you can go your own way, there's a lot of great software out there.monNom
    • One of the things that starting to become possible is to have an LLM write a tool for you... if you have open-source tools, you might extend them with a prompt.monNom
    • Can't do that with proprietary software...monNom
    • I have not used any Adobe tools since 2021. I use Affinity for photo retouching and Figma for everything else.maquito
    • i use the affinity suite, it's not as fully featured as ai/ps but it's all i need.
i also have an old version of ai cs3 which somes in handy now and then
      hans_glib
    • Does anyone know of any alternative to the image trace feature in Illy? Once I find that, I think I'll cancel my sub.pseud
    • @pseud See if Inkscape scratches that itch.skinny_puppy
