Adobe Premiere is so sluggish on my really good M4 MBP which is very surprising as it's simple video stuff and need to render simple effects like scaling or text layers constantly so it can play real time at friggin half resolution of 1080p.

Morgan Stanley warns AI could sink 42-year-old software giant
Despite Adobe's efforts to integrate AI into its products, including the Firefly feature in Creative Cloud and the Acrobat AI Assistant, the company's stock has declined significantly, with a 20.6% drop year-to-date.
Competitive pressures from companies like Canva and Figma, which are rapidly gaining users and market share.
- Firefly is so far behind. but generative fill saves me hours of work I used to do and enables things I wouldn't have tried without it.CyBrainX
- You can jump in Figma or Canva and learn those in like a day - but you need years to be fluent in Photoshop - even longer in Illustrator not to mention AE :))grafician
- I'll still use Adobe till the company I work for stops paying for it. I won't be without AE, PS and Illustrator. Not to mention the fonts.CyBrainX
- It will be amazingly ironic that at some point Figma will actually buy Adobe!grafician
- Figma is a jokeHayoth
- You're a jokegrafician
- @CyBrainX how many Adobe Fonts have you used in commercial projects so far this year?grafician
- two peanuts were walking, one of them was assalted, is a jokenuggler
- @Grafician, I'd say between 30 and 40. That's not including any I tried but didn't use. I used what fonts were needed for all the brands I worked on.CyBrainX

- It's the most powerful image-gen model so far, I use it as a standalone. But the output resolution of 1080p max sucks. I wish they could give us 4K finally.NBQ00
- Well doesn't it depends on training data so for 4K you would need min 4K input too?grafician

- would be nice if you could actually get it. See the next post.CyBrainX

Regarding Nano Banana,
It's only in Photoshop Beta right now. The problem is actually getting it without Adobe's endless cycle of logging in an out and back in, only to be on a page for trial version or purchasing a plan. Has anyone actually gotten the beta?- Yes, just download it through the creative cloud app , but you're settings will be default so prep for having to deal with that shitYakuZoku
- Is this where I should be looking? https://i.haasie.com…CyBrainX
- its not under "all apps"?YakuZoku
- Just the regular version I have installed already.CyBrainX
- YakuZoku0
So since nano Banana in PS only has 1 output, I just found you can use Whisk at google labs to get multiple outputs (well 2 anyway)
https://labs.google/fx/tools/whi…
I hope they update that in PS soon, till then I just uninstalled PS beta

Fonts down for maintenance for hours now
- AWS east down so no fonts for you!grafician
- Using Adobe fonts for clients projects is dumb af anyway
Always self host ;)grafician - Self hosting isn't an option when you have a lot of co-workers who may need your files, but I prefer self-hosting fonts when I can.CyBrainX
- I had issues with only one font that I noticed. I'm surprised every Adobe font wasn't compromised.CyBrainX
- Downloaded fonts worked fine, just couldn't search/activate new ones. And I'm in-house, not going to self-host.i_monk

Okies for better or worse younger Designers I work with seem to have gone all in on just using either google fonts or whatever they find in Adobe fonts for their files.
Setting all that misery aside for the moment...
My pet peeve with Adobe is they have that stupid creative Cloud Hub thingie where you go to update Apps and activate fonts yet when you want to browse fonts it just launches you to separate web browser.
Why TF can I not browse and install fonts in the Creative Cloud Hub thingie? It's been this broken ass jump through hoops thingie for a while now too.
Only complaining cuz i got brought in a project cold and the response i got asking for fonts was "I used Adobe fonts you can find them there...:
- People need to check the Adobe fonts license :))
Same with Google fonts...grafician - You can browse and activate fonts in the app itselfmonospaced
- The browser then tells you to use the app to install fonts in a popup. Adobe is not strong in UI/UX.i_monk
- adobe is just a pile of money grabbing shitehans_glib

Their new generative fill in Photoshop has become really horrible, ever since they put in Firefly image model 1 & 3.
Was it Firefly based before too (before you were able to select any models)?
Because it totally sucks now. Before it was at least useful to extend images and retouch things.
- Check out the Adobe Max conferences on livestreams today. Generative Fill now has nano banana and a few other AI models - all better than Firefly, which is V5.CyBrainX

These Adobe Max sessions are so generic and uninteresting. I should be interested in 3/4 of them and so many are suits throwing jargon around. The speakers talk fast are intentionally goofy and annoying. Of the remaining sessions I enjoyed, most of them are repeating the same Photoshop features. Also, they gave no attention to After Effects and a ton of attention to Adobe Express.
Here's the schedule.

- It's probably their new typeface after the rebranding...grafician
- But any good changes to Photoshop?
I don't use anymore, nothing aDobe for like 2 years already? Maybe even moregrafician - “Why improve anything? It’s not like anyone will unsubscribe. Mwahaha!” - Adobe growth management teammort_
- Yeah generative ai shit is ace. Basic selections, the core of the product, are overhauled.monospaced
- I use Adobe products all the time for design. Are you on projects that only use figma?monospaced
- The generative fill now uses other AI models, which is nice because Firefly is still not as good, even after the update.CyBrainX
- The fatter type really falls apart on other app icons, esp. Lightroom Classic with its three letters.evilpeacock
- Few things rank lower on things I care about that the icon for photoshop. Maybe grafs demented rambling opinions, but not much else.monospaced

We were discussing new Adobe icons, stay on topic!grafician

Just did the annual Adobe dance as was up for renewal on 6 Nov. New price they wanted to charge was A$113.50. Strewth! Jumped onto my account and noticed I was offered 50% immediately. Thought they can do better, jumped on a chat and got them down to AUD$48pm, which is only $4 more than current year. Offer me this price to start with ya barstools!
- Goddamnit. I have to do this now too.monospaced
- i cancelled, got offered the same $48AUD immediately - fucking crazy model they got running ... i will never pay them more... crazy_me_
- Yep, shouldn't have to go back each year to ask. Just send a fuggin invoice renewal for the AU$48. Such bullshitsab

Is the new Affinity (by Canva) an alternative for you? I think if you're a freelancer this could be a great deal.
Studios and agencies probably can't leave the Adobe train just yet. Too much of an industry standard.
But the new Affinity does look great and what's cool is that it contains all the features of pixel editing, vector and layout stuff in one app.
- The Canva subscription paywall has turned off a lot of professionals, signalling that the premium model is catering to hobbyists and such.i_monk

Adobe Illustrator, huuuuuge bug:
From https://illustrator.uservoice.co…... "After saving & opening a file with multiple art boards, many of the artboards and/or their content is shifted around the canvas."
Damn this is bad, I have to call clients I can't work now.
- It was never about the price of the subscription, but for shit like this!grafician
- For some reason, Idk but Affinity never crashed once in years! Not even once!
Bugs were non -existent, even when using beta versionsgrafician - Maybe because Adobe is a mix of shit code and not native apps
Affinity were always native apps and it showsgrafician - IF they also release some kind of video motion app Adobe will be really in troublegrafician
- Adobe is already in deep deep trouble. Affinity downloaded. It would be awesome if you could also program your own scripts and actions in Affinity, like in illystewart
- That's a terrible bug but to be honest, it might be years since I crashed in Illustrator. Maybe because I don't use artboards very often.CyBrainX

I got an email from Adobe letting me know I have access to the latest Firefly Beta. I click the link and get an error message.
"No access. You do not have access to Firefly video editor (beta)".
