Parents... or folks who are trying to sell us on 'the extra job' that each child sort of becomes...
... No kidding!
... but it was your choice... ... not mine or Boz's or anyone else who agrees w/Boz's post...
Not to run the thread off course... but tax credits cuz you have children etc etc... ... blah blah - all of it is crap.
You made the decision to either spread your legs or finger a woman w/your penis... ... not me - so why do you get any additional 'special' treatment - whether it be hours of work vs. tax breaks...
... your child is not my child... ... it does not take a village to raise the kid - it takes responsible parents.
I want kids - I just don't have the means to raise them right now...

Responsible people don't have kids till they have a lackey like Boz to pawn all their extra work off on.
- dMullins0
It's amusing how the real question flew straight over top of like 90% of the people commenting here.
- enlighten us, oh Mighty dmullinslocustsloth
- Q: "People get away w/ stuff because they choose to have kids. What's up with that?"prophet
- thank god for dmullins, im pleased someone spotted all the BS in this thread!Hombre_Lobo

I honestly don't mind working extra so that my coworkers can spend more time with their children. It makes me happy to make their lives better. It also helps the team morale knowing that we're there for each other when it matters. My complaint--and this just MIGHT be where Boz is coming from too--is that I'm not recognized for it. An email with "Thanks!" is not quite enough sometimes, especially when it goes on for months.

A 'family friend' recently relayed to me her plan to get pregnant the next time her 'fireman' lover is in town... ... because having her one son affords her so much money - adding a second will add so much more money from the gov...
... I asked her to stop talking to me because my family does love and care about her and I didn't want to ruin that... ... but I can barely look the hooker in the eye right now.
- because you're busy looking at her tits?Mr_Mxyzptlk
- haha... they've gone pancake since the first tax-break went off her tittyPonyBoy
- And your contention is that all parents have kids for this reason?locustsloth
- no, locust... just relaying some of the abuse that is out therePonyBoy
- you get a $1,000 credit for each kid... for a year. that's nothing. daycare costs that much for 2 weeks or soGreedo
- states have diff plans - she's in Oregon... she gets some extra $ too because she's a single motherPonyBoy
- again... I can't put this on all parents at all... just an example of the abuse that is out therePonyBoy
- the $1000 is federal, any state will never give you more than that. if that's a lot for her, she's poooooooorGreedo
- you should well know, PB, that any program that gives out any sort of help will be abused.locustsloth
- it doesn't mean that the program shouldn't exist, just that oversight should be in place and abusers ferreted outlocustsloth

Ok, what have we learned so far?
To any parent, kids are obviously more important than work. EVERYONE AGREES. No need to argue about this anymore.
Is your time spent with children more important than my free time? Only to you. It is highly commendable that you put your kids ahead of your work. But remember that we don't care about your kids like you do.
People with no kids need to find something that they feel is more important to them than any contract/client/paycheque or simply learn to say "no." Parents have learned to say "no" because they value the time with their children more than work and make no exception. We childless folks should take notes.
- DrBombay0
I work with 2 guys that admit to using their children as excuses to work from home, come in late and all sorts of things like that. So, if you aren't currently using your kids for that, you could. Shit, you might as well.
- If this thread is any example, tons of people will defend you if you did.DrBombay

if you replace "kids" by "drinking problem", the story is still valid.

Hey, what's going on in this thread? I didn't read the first two pages because I was late dropping my kids off at school.
But make it quick I have to take them to a dentist appointment soon then I'm leaving early to take them to soccer practice.
Oh and the little one is sick so I'll be working from home all next week until he feels better.
BTW those changes need to be to the client first think Monday morning. Have a great weekend. Call me if you need anything but my phone might not work, I'm taking the kids to the coast this weekend.- and you still get paid...monospaced
- it would be funny if I didn't hear these type of things all too often.Boz

There are tons of irresponsible parents who abuse the system, but on the whole I think the problem has more to do with your workplace than parents in general.
There are plenty of places out there where EVERYONE leaves at 5. Maybe you need to fine an office with a different work culture.
- moldero0
to raise a kid right, is a lot of fuckin work, parents know this, their not giving parents the weekend off so they can fuckoff on a PS3 or veg out on the telly, their working man. parenting isnt only buying them toys n shit, and putting them off somewhere to go play, parenting is guiding/teaching all that shit. if your expecting a school to do most of the teaching for you, your kid is deprived. you'll only know true selflessness once you have a kid.
and I only have 1, I have a couple friends my age (36) with 4 and even 5, I couldn't imagine that and a job, no fuckin way.
- You chose to have him/her.. deal with it!Sneakybadger2
- likewise, have fun working on the weekend.moldero
- lolmoldero
- I'm freelance and work whenever i like, week, weekend makes no difference.Sneakybadger2
- I just found it amusing that you unwittingly proved the point of the childless people in this thread with your self righteous parenting attitudeSneakybadger2
- parenting attitude. Also there is no such thing as a selfless act.. You are always feeding an emotional need..Sneakybadger2
- seriously, its your choice. no fucking pelican dropped these kids off at your door.iCanHasQBN
- if you re read this thread, its not about hardships of parenting, its about you kids having to work on weekendsmoldero
- Sneaky, as I said you;ll only know selflessness when you have a kid, till then, i would not say anything about the subjectmoldero
- No such thing... read a book once in a whileSneakybadger2
- sure thing manmoldero
- have fun with your expensive cars and boozemoldero
- Congratulations on all your hard work. http://www.thamesmea…Sneakybadger2
- thanks, no im going to go read as you said, but its going to be Dr. Seuss to my kidmoldero
- see, selflessness, you'll learn this when you get older son.moldero
- Thanks Master YodaSneakybadger2
- i may be old man, but not that old, lol. have a good weekend brada, no ill feelings :)moldero

- ICan, you weren't born with sperm in your penis? I would look into that.juhls
- PonyBoy0
the example about my 'family friend' is in no way 'the average parent'...
... hahaha... sorry to have made it come off like that... ... she's just an example of the abuse of the system out there that is rather rampant (she learned it from woman just like her - no husband / dead-beat dad situations)...
Most parents I know are actually quite responsible.
- cerberus0
and this is why I don't come to this site.

I'd like to add something regarding the whole "parents shouldn't get tax breaks" argument.
I don't have kids. I believe in fairness, just like everyone else. When I was a younger man I honestly thought that it was unfair that parents got extra tax breaks. I don't think this anymore.
People without kids need to understand that we give tax breaks and incentives to families not to make life easier on the parents or encourage population growth, but to increase the quality of life of the CHILDREN. This should be important to anyone. Promoting the growth of healthy, educated, well-developed children should be as important to non-parents as it is to parents.
- +moldero
- Ironically, I spend my tax credit on bats and chains, which I then use to beat my children.Mr_Mxyzptlk
- Yep.. I don't have any issues with tax breaks.. I get why some might have, but I totally agree with your pointBoz
- it's not my job to increase the quality of your child's life, nb...
... be responsible up-front... increase the chances of...PonyBoy - ... your childs Q of life by preparing yourself for the on-coming burden before having the childPonyBoy
- and yes - time and unforeseen occurrence befall us all - I know nothing works perfectly... ... but personal preparations goes...PonyBoy
- ... a long way.PonyBoy
- @Pony: That's fine in theory, but in the real world this will never happen.nb
- and the quality of life for these kids will help determine the q of life for you when your old
bjladams - ... and so, we all chip in for the benefit of our children.nb
- sure it will... and it does - very much so actuallyPonyBoy
- bjladams... solid point. :)PonyBoy

the more time these parents spend with their kids, the less likely that you'll get robbed by him in a few years for drug money. they're helping you really. :)
