haha, I remember getting hooked on season 1, hearing jaline report that some forum she had visited gave some possible theories on the show, one being that they were all really dead... seemed plausible at the time...
glad I stopped watching at that point...

yeah a bit disappointed at the ending ... the whole 2 & a half hours it was basically a touch hands, magnetic pulse would occur and they remember who they all are

So, I haven't watched it, at all.
are they dead?
how does it end?

I think the end was great. The show was never sci-fi in the sense of details, like a star trek or star wars story. It was always highly metaphorical, so it was appropriate that they ended it that way, very emotionally and symbolically.
In the end, what made the show great
Casting (except for Jacob and man in black)
Acting - always great (except for two exceptions above)
Writing - kept the show moving interesting compelling meaningful....despite this crazy convoluted background story....
Music - Amazing! Michael Giacchino! awesomeI dont even mind that I dont know what the four toed creatures are....
- You just hit on something there. People wanted concrete answers you get from sci fi. This is something else.CyBrain

Here are some photos of when we stumbled upon the set while they were shooting the first episode. Deserted beach at the north end of Oahu with a bunch of plane wreckage...

I disagree. I think they made the show as they went along. They never worked out real character arcs, they just wrote to what fans demanded. Ben, for instance, was never meant to be a recurring character, but fans liked him, so they wrote him into the show. I think that's what was disappointing...the writers never knew what the show was about either, so they cobbled together some bullshit for the last 2 seasons to "wrap it up". I would have been a lot more impressed if they had begun with a conclusive arc and truly worked it out over the last few years.

Why does the stupid statue have stupid 4 toes? WHY 4 TOES?????

How can you say that the show did not have story arcs? The show was all story arc! The beginning of the show saw Jack and Locke debate science and faith and in the ending come back to the same idea but with a reversal.....and so on.
It is true that the show adapted to the fan base, but that is part of what made it what it was.
Besides, what does it mean that you with they 'had begun with a conclusive arc and truly worked it out over the last few years'?
They totally did that - you just may not like what they did. It sounds like you want more answers to all the questions......which I think would have been a mistake for the show to attempt to do.

Lost ending = good people die and go to heaven

The real "secret" of Lost = the writers never had any idea what any of it meant
