@ voiceof - there's nothing wrong with wanting more... but you just want a big house and a girl with big tits?
As far as ranking designers. Theres a big difference between designers who design packaging for porno vs designing cars or space shuttles. How you could compare that to a secretary, I don't know.
But before you go and decide on who is going to choose your standard of living. I think you'll want to first decide what job you would like to do. There are countless of individuals who choose decided to do what they do because of money, rather than choosing that job that they really wanted to do.

Like many others, I respectfully call "bullshit" on the premise of this thread. It seems like you are advocating for a world without money, while missing the fact that money is simply the accounting method for our economic system.
For instance, in a communist system where everyone got vouchers for stuff in equal amounts, you'd STILL need some means of determining the value of goods and services. If I get 10 vouchers, I can get, I dunno, 2 chickens and 3 loaves of bread, but I can't get 500 chickens, because then there won't be enough for everyone else.
Travel back in time to before there was money. You think the world was a happy peaceful place with people holding hands and no problems? No, it was fucking caveman killing each other with spears.
Money doesn't kill people, people kill people.

@ukit - Money fuels killing.... money makes people kill people. Money by itself is harmless, but once you tie that into basic needs, you can ultimately form a company based on people who have to work, just to take care of their most basic survival needs. Like mexicans working @ $3/hr so they can eat, take care of wife and kid.... :( we forced them to live on welfare and then turn around and blame them for being on it in the first place. Money is how we created this system, but we can get rid of it, once it becomes obsolete or we find it self-destructive like a gas-powered car when we have a solution at bay.
Imagine every home having one of these:

How would you propose to motivate people? People don't get out of bed at 5am, drive 1.5 hrs to work, work 10+ hrs, just because they want to make the world a better place.
People are generally lazy, without a motivating factor nothing would ever get done. This is why capitalism works - the more ambitious the person (generally speaking), the more rewards they experience. Without those rewards and incentives, most people would just sleep all day.
What is evil is not having money. That's where the problems start.

@whatsup - In response to your response
Point 1: No I don't only want a big house and a girl with big tits, my point was people have always found ways to get what they want, in the beginning it was more about need now it's more about want. Depends on each individual to decide what it is they are willing to work for.
Point 2: I should have specified. I was referring to Graphic designers, but more so I was making the point that sometimes a jobs importance is more subjective and relative to the situation. With bureaucracy it's very black and white.
Point 3: I believe most people don't have a "passion" for anything other than just being around people they love. I know there is no job I can think of that I would just love to do so I strike a balance and find something I would enjoy (ish) and will also pay well. I think most people would do this and you would run into the issue I spoke to earlier - more people trying to get less jobs and ending up with jobs that don't afford them the life they want and they don't want to do. Just like in today's world except now you can get the same job as someone else, do it better and the job is yours; this will not happen when jobs are rationed out.

@whatsup You completely ignored my point sir. Money of some kind will always be needed because you will always need a way to measure the value of things. You are arguing against capitalism, not money.

I have a goat. You have a taco. Let's trade.
- scarabin0
this is an incredibly myopic philosophy.
money is bartering without having to carry around a goat all the time
- <---identity
- why do people always go back to the days of goats and sheppards? we have supermarkets.********
- We have supermarkets because of the advent of modern currency.voiceof
- my point is it's inconvenient to whip out a goat in the check-out line of a supermarket. the dollar represents the goatscarabin

"So you think that money is the root of all evil?" said Francisco d'Anconia. "Have you ever asked what is the root of money? Money is a tool of exchange, which can't exist unless there are goods produced and men able to produce them. Money is the material shape of the principle that men who wish to deal with one another must deal by trade and give value for value. Money is not the tool of the moochers, who claim your product by tears, or of the looters, who take it from you by force. Money is made possible only by the men who produce. Is this what you consider evil?
- You don't need money for trade or value. People have known this for thousands of years, its how the world worked, then came capitalism and making money from EVERYTHING. including people/. evil********
- then came capatalism that put a dollar value on everything including people's lives.********
- money as a root of all good... i find that very difficult to believe.********

Saying money is evil is an oversimplification of a complex issue. Rather the peoples love of money, having more than they need, is what has been historically exploited with disastrous results. A fiat currency has no inherent value except for the paper and ink that is used to print it. We give it value because we love it. An that love is manipulated by the people who print and control it. So we are a slave to what we love and what we love is controlled by people who's ultimate motivation is a desire to control everything.

the culture in black rock city is an experiment in a gifting/trade economy. there you trade stories, skills, knowledge, or handmade objects what what you want. people simply offer you things if there is a perceived need...
apart from coffee in center camp there's no exchange of money whatsoever
