- I thought they were 'without shame' at this point ? If so, why is Adam being all coy about his cock ? He didnt care at that time.mikotondria3
- Perhaps equally important, why does Satan look like an aging Jim Carrey crossed with a ferret?ukit

The iPad is the perfect device for Flash development: one size screen, one resolution, not that many ways of getting past those measurements. We all know that many of the reasons for not allowing Flash on this device is mostly financial. I don't know much about HTML5, Canvas and so forth, but it sounds like back on the day when developers/designers use to give thought to the idea that a lot of people out there didn't have the Flash plugin. HTML5 sounds "that" complicated to me.
The reason I asked on this thread about what it means to a Flash developer is because I was curious about what most are thinking to do with how to approach this "market". I was one of the people waiting eagerly for CS5 to look into develpment for the iPad/iPhone devices, but now we're just stuck with exporting for HTML5 from Flash CS5.
I hate the thought of different approaches for building applications for the iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, Android... just like the thought of checking websites for IE, Firefox, Opera, and like doing so with Netscape back in the day.
... Talking about pushing the limits. I remember a couple of years back, back when some people used to implement those chromeless windows and Flash with the thought of web pages looking more like an stand alone app than a regular site. Maybe we need to do that again: create websites that act more like apps so people can start enjoying content on this device outside of the AppStore/iTunes environment.
It's a shame that we are going to miss out on all of those years of Flash goodness because a company doesn't want to play along and give us the full web, but instead, plan for "us" to re-build the web "for them" "their way" again just to create one's device revenue. This sounds nuts!
I'm still curious as to hear some more especifics as to what developers are going to do with this scenario :)
Thanks everybody for the comments on this thread, very interesting!

- Got all the details out, it was like 3 pages long :)MACAS0
- two steps back - one step forward, this isn't really about html5 thoughkingsteven
- ... cs5 would create apps that run at near native speeds... both flash player and html5 canvas are limited in comparisonkingsteven
- zombo.com means something because it does nothing... would it exist without flash? no. could it get in the app store? no. Apple are killing creative entrepreneurshipkingsteven
- Apple vs Adobe = Apple vs Zombo!

An insightful commentary by an ex-Apple exec. Read the summary

I wonder how long it's going to take - if at all - for Adobe to call in the Anti-Trust Brigade.

best scenario now for the creatives and clients:
adobe release now their tools for linux!
no more apple monopoly!!!- Adobe shit runs on Windows, what monopoly are you talking about? also Windows owns the market shareernexbcn
- Silent in all this mess is Microsoft.Continuity

I think Apple will eventually face charges of anti-competitive behaviour.
- Google is on that queue firsternexbcn
- Both Apple and Adobe need to tread carefully in that territory. The potential for alienation and losses for both in the case of ugly litigation is massive.Continuity

Adobe took full 3 years to finally get working on a decent mobile version of its Flash Player, and from the videos I've seen (even from the CS5 announcement where they showcase them on a tablet) the thing stills feels sluggish and with frame dropping.
Then they try to create a cross compiler without even consulting Apple hoping that if they release it and then Apple blocks it (which has happen) that Apple will have to deal with all that backslash from the Flash community. Sorry, it's Adobe's fault not recognize the emerging mobile market when it was necessary.
That and the terrible performance of Flash Player on OS X since ages, something they could have fix a long time ago if they wanted to show Apple some good willing.
- It's not just about Adobe .. it's about all cross compilers.********
- Apple are behaving in an evil manner.********
- Same thing with porting any app to xcode. Total bullshit move. Chill with the Apple evangelism,Mimio
- lets stop pretending there are good guys involved. Adobe has been jerking its devs around too.kpl

Adobe had years to get their mobile development in check, Apple comes along and reshapes the whole landscape in about 2 years and manages to show the world how mobile development should be done.
Now Adobe is crying because they sat on there arse and failed for so long and are being left out of the party. Also the morons saying its about money, Apple gets paid no matter what the app is developed in so Flash apps means more developers which means more money for Apple.

^^^ and having another framework built on top of their SDK hinders Apple from moving forward with new versions and APIs, because then they'll have to wait for Adobe to catch up and developers will simply keep churning shit for the old APIs, so Apple yes, is in a position where they rather control innovation of their platform and don't want to depend on someone else to keep moving forward.

- I'm sorry, but that doesn't even make sense.********
- makes perfect senseutopian
- makes absolute sense!********
- This is a non-issue. The other platforms factor for the Apple API, not the other way around.Mimio
- We're not talking about _another_ framework .. there would be NO OTHER FRAMEWORK********
- Apple are dictating what tools are used to write code - it's completely different to emexbcn's analysis.********
- change framework for language, you get the point, why is Apple bad for protecting their SDK and environment?ernexbcn

developers who stick to one platform are just begging to be screwed over eventually. true story.
- Now, developers will be waiting in terror to find out if the next keynotes speech is going to fuck them over.********

Why do people who defend Apple automatically get branded as "Kool Aid drinkers" or "fan boys?" Is there something wrong with defending the only company that has produced a decent user experience on a computer to date?
- ya all those apple web servers technologies in the 90s really made the internet... oh wait.zarkonite
- I only call people out on this when they spread misinformation.********

lol @ "Is there something wrong with defending the only company that has produced a decent user experience on a computer to date?"
this is funny to the objective person.
- eieio0
why am I always called arrogant? I mean I'm the best right? The best there ever was, obviously.

Kool Aid got a bad rap all these years. In fact, it's a great-tasting, low-calorie fruit flavored drink.
