Well obvious it means you won't be able to "export to iPhone" your Flash movie.
I'm more curious what Adobe themselves will do, given that CS5 launches in just a few days. Will they still include this export thing? How do you go about advertising a feature that won't even work?
There's got to be a major meltdown/ clusterfuck happening at Adobe HQ, while Steve Jobs cackles evilly in the distance somewhere like Mr. Burns.

Ah, c'mon - I've seen this brought up on a few boards but that would be an insanely stupid idea for Adobe.
Imagine they release CS5 for Windows only, what would happen with Mac users? Sure, a few plugged-in developers who wanted to develop in Flash would maybe drop a grand to buy PCs and upgrade so they can hang out with Content Aware Phil. Meanwhile, the vast majority of CS users (including the print designers who don't give two shits about Flash) would simply not upgrade - they'd keep right on using CS4.
It would be a complete disaster for Adobe. These companies can't afford to forfeit a big chunk of their revenue in one release cycle, they'd be fucked.
- Wow, you're so fucking smart. I had no idea.MyMommies
- Mooncheese motherfuckerukit
- why are people forgetting you can already run windows on your mac.ephix
- I was going to say that. For about $60 for Parallels and about $200 for Windows.CyBrain
- and they'd have to upgrade eventually. Companies would jizz themselves to go PC only.CyBrain

I wasn't trying to start a fight. Just quite annoyed by QBN's filter.

It's Apple's platform. They can do whatever the hell they want. Sure, Steve Jobs is a dick for doing so, but he's positioning his apps against browsing in general.
Like someone said, either you're an iPhone developer, or your not. Get over it. If websites are shifting away from flash, then people need to evolve. I love flash, it's great because it's cross platform. It does tend to be over used. Flash developers need to leverage the platform appropriately, and make amazing shit. Wanna see it on an iPhone? Too bad. Go to the website without your iphone, and be sure to complain to Jobs about limiting his internet users. They'll have to listen.
With jquery, ajax, etc, flash is becoming less more of a crutch for a lot of sites. If flash wants to compete, it's going to have to be able to be better indexed, always deeplink, etc.
Apple is forcing a much needed change for Adobe Flash. I don't necessarily agree with it, but Adobe is for once going to have to make much needed changes that they've been neglecting for the past 5 years.
- I completely disagree with your premise that Jobs would every let Flash on the iPhone/iPad under any circumstances.CyBrain
- adobe needs a reboot.cramdesign

I see Jobs restricting javascript to his devices if it ever evolves to threaten the app store...and the fanboys will justify a way to applaud it.

Each can do what they want, but in the end it is the user that suffers. If they suffer enough, it will affect business.
Dunno, I won't buy an iPad because it won't support Flash (I need to be able to develop a solution that can be online, in a large touchscreen - an iPad seemed an ideal solution to show clients....but apparently I'll have to look elsewhere).
So, they've lost one customer (and those in my company and what we suggest for client showrooms).
You listening Apple?? I didn't think so.

Let's be honest here. We are talking about two multi billion dollar corporations... there are no "good" guys in this fight. They would both like nothing more than to lock you into using only their products and no other. Cheering on Adobe as some sort of open standards hero is foolishness.
