love everything about it. it is fast, it is stable and is super easy to use. obviously a lot is inspired by OSX. enjoying it a lot.

Windows Vista came out with key major features cut out (including a new file system), failed miserably and now it's been corrected with Windows 7.
Though all those features promised for Vista are still missing.

I think I'll buy it. Although not sure I'll upgrade the laptop - since it's cramped up with OEM software - and Vista has never given me any troubles, apart from painfully slow installs (which I hardly ever do anyway).
- Still to find out what are people to expect when installing 6-month old peripherals though.Corvo2
- PC friends tell me it's Vista was supposed to be, all nags fixed and runs betterernexbcn
- Yes - easier on the machine is reason enough to upgrade. Vista is rather bulky. Still, better organised than XP.Corvo2

I've been on it since the first beta release. It's been reliable and smooth since then. I just hate that they made Windows Explorer even crappier and it won't display remaining disc space in the status bar, because "it causes anxiety issues in some users".

I am not a windows users, but on CNN today they said Windows 7 "comes less annoying advertising messages, which is good"
What does that mean? what's the annoying advertising messages?
Just curious.

My grandfather bought a new pc yesterday and I was recruited to hook it up. First impression: Looks just like Vista.
The control panel has been more xp'd, so that was a plus. It actually installed his old printer. I got one or two Vista warnings, but it was installing software and not some bullshit.
I run a pc to play a racing game, but I won't be upgrading for a long time. Hopefully, this will mean more software will be 64 bit though. I switched to Mac a long time ago and won't be looking back. I wish 3ds max was on a mac though, blender just doesn't cut it.
- What do you mean? I find it's faster than max the more I use it. Lighting is faster too once you figure out how it works.Redmond

here's a little radio documentary about the launch. an interesting 10 mins of stuff you kinda already thought you might have suspected but confirmed with the authority of the beeb.

*guilt*
OK, I think my problems were entirely of my own doing - I suspect it was a driver issue, having installed a sound card driver straight from the CD... shoulda got a fresh one from the internet.
So, yeah - she's all working now... *fingers crossed*
d'oh!
Still, though - it was a genuine fuck up, but a crappy sound driver shouldn't lock me out of my own User group - shouldn't disable my abilty to access Properties, or the UAC, or whatever other service or program that might've indicated what was up. That's not smart design.
- and it should've told you the driver was not right.zarkonite
- I told you to unhide the real admin account, it solves 90% of problems. You're not the real top dog user of your machine unless you do this.Redmond
- Unless you set that account active and then use that to manage your computer.Redmond
- I tried doing that, redmond - it didn't work - nothing i tried, except a reinstall, did. All good now though - thanks!detritus

- this is bad PR for Jerry Harvey who looks like a scroatem in this picture, for Windows 7 because of the douchebag buying it, and the black guy who looks like he's on crack...Invalid

Yup, been on it for several months now. Even though the version I am on is no the final retail build, I haven't had a single problem. It's awesome.
