Yup, been on it for several months now. Even though the version I am on is no the final retail build, I haven't had a single problem. It's awesome.

Def - Win7 is a must if you're a PC user.
They got it right this time round and about time. I've been using it for about 6 months and even the beta's ran better than Vista.
Cleaner, Simpler and what an operating system should be like.
Glad they came around.

congratulations to windows for finally releasing an operating system that can keep up with macs osx tiger! let the party begin!
- hahah how so?zarkonite
- vista vs leopard i found vista far superior, both on the mbp and pc desktopdeathboy
- far better as in surpasses in many more places, some smaller gains some larger but most seem to be betterdeathboy
- OSX tiger is so over rated...Killer
- not to mention better/more hardware/software/tw... and such. but knowledge does play a factordeathboy

all trolling aside...
I'd be curious to know if much of Windows 7's performance improvements are due to the fact that most Windows 7 installs so far have been clean installs, done without all the crapware that comes with OEM computer installs from the manufacturer...
.i.e. Vista laptops with 1 gig of RAM often had a few too many megs wasted by crapware installed by the factory in order to get kickbaks from crapware vendors and make pricepoints.... if this continues on Win7 laptops, we may not have such an improvement except via Moore's law...

reminds me of coke zero. same bad after taste as xp or vista. lol.
- no, really. win 7 might be good. i like that. not going there but still. good work there. mc.akrokdesign

got used to it because i have to at work but i dont think its on par with macs at all.... i have to run in on a 64bit PC, keeps bugging and its reaaaaaally sloooooow... easier than vista but wouldnt use it if i didnt have to

glad to hear. i've got a pc laptop at home (mac at work) and vista kills me. i like XP.
is it worth the upgrade or should i stay with an OS that makes me drink and scream at an inanimate laptop like some insane hobo (or like an average scot).

but please tell me on win7 the taskbar can have smaller icons because i like to have most my adobe quicklaunch links, multi browser and a few apps. usually like 15+ icons down there. i like the size which they are. tiny, like 16x16 pixels i think.
So are they still tiny and thats just some fancy skin they show? if its not is it a big deal? alternative way to work would be...hopefully not desktop shortcuts...?

On my old Vista laptop, I seemed to have very slow browsers after leaving them on and surfing an an ADHD style, with lots of tabs,etc.... this didn't seem to be so bad in XP.... I've heard it's due to Vista's different Memory Management.... Can anyone tell me if Win 7 behaves more like XP or Vista when you have tons of windows and tabs open in browsers?
- or I should surf in a less ADHD manner..... but I'm browser testing!vaxorcist

love everything about it. it is fast, it is stable and is super easy to use. obviously a lot is inspired by OSX. enjoying it a lot.

I have to say I was very impressed with Win7 performance. I tested a beta in a VM via usb and firewire, and it was fast.

Does it still look like DOS when it boots up
- whats wrong wit it?? its called bios and it helps you see whatsup
GeorgesII - You know that's just a bitmap hiding UNIX's guts when Macs boot up? Or is it Jobsian magick?detritus
- No, he's not referring to the BIOS or, more likely he simply doesn't understand what it is, but opines all the samedetritus
- still, the simple bitmap does wonders for the experience.iCanHazQBN
- just like a loading gif.. it might not actually be loading but it keeps you waiting!Stugoo
- the experience? oh right, not knowing what's going on, great experience. I'll take my DOS prompt any day over that.zarkonite
