If this camera was full frame, it wouldn't be under 2K. It wouldn't even be under 3k. I think the addition of 59.94 fps 720p is pretty awesome. I can't wait to see some more sample pics and video.
- I'm sure they'll make a FF one called the 3D soon.Nightshade

I love how Canon segments the market in order to squeeze more money from its clients.
5D has a weaker AF and a slow shutter (3fps) only to ensure pro sport photographers are forced to buy expensive pro cameras, ie. 1D.
Lower shelf 50D has a faster shutter than 5D. Even the old 20D had 5fps.Apparently pros didn't buy enough 50D's, so Canon renamed its successor to a "pro" single digit 7D.

yeah, 50D and t1i have the same sensor, but ti1 has higher ISO but slower FPS.
wtf, one for all pls.
- t1i has a different sensor.bigtrick
- no, it doesn't. http://gizmodo.com/5…epic_rim

It's a consumer war. Canon strategizes on bits and pieces of consumer requested functionality. HD video, well you got your level of picks ... Full frame ... well you got your choices. "Affordability" ... you got a vast range of choices. lalala.
Here is a tid bit of wisdom when it comes to the latest and greatest of technologies ... by the time you leave the store it is antiquated meaning that there is all ready a better and newer version. It's the evolution of technology.

Granted it's not even available yet, but I think it sounds like a great camera. No, it's not full frame. If it were, it wouldn't be priced where it is. The new AF sounds like a huge step forward. Dual Digic 4, rad. 8fps w/o the need to attach a battery grip, rad for those who need it. Why compare this camera to the T1i? It's not even close. If anything it compares to the 1DmkIII, with a 20% smaller sensor which leads me to believe that'll be the next new dslr body you'll see from canon, the 1DmkIV.

Forgive me for a dumb question, but is this an upgrade to the 5D or just a new product line?

i am actually glad they continue to make crop sized cameras. what are photographers like me going to do with a pile of ef-s lenses and no crop factor to use them on?
at the same time i realize each time i buy a new ef-s lens, that someday they will get rid of the crop cams...

Are there any sample HD videos online that where created with the Canon EOS 7D???

i dont understand how people can complain about this not being full frame. if it was its price tag would fucking sky-rocket. this looks very promising, of course it always depends upon your needs. and anyways film is better then anything :)

Only issue I have right now is with Adobe. LR2.5 does not recognize the new raw format. You can not bring them in. The new LR3 Beta does allow you to bring them in, but it uses a beta reader. This sux, because when you import the colorspace is jacked. It shifts everything to the warmer side very heavily and you need to take a lot of time to bring everything back to the original state.
Hurry the f--k up Adobe.
- thought about touching it out and just use the canon converter for now instead? sounds like it's better currently.jaylarson

My goal is to buy a 5D - I'm practicing and saving in order to justify the 3grand ;) - mainly because I love how it shoots AND the video! Since the 7D came out, I've been thinking about getting it, keep the cash difference or buy a nice lens, but I keep hearing this crop crap. Is it really worth paying the difference for a 5D if I am not a pro? I know the question might sound dumb, but hey, you guys know, or pretend you do...
- the crop factor is not that huge of a deal. Get the 7D and good glass.********
- waits for all the nutt jobs to pile on********
- in easy to understand terms, what would be the noticeable difference in crop factor between a 5D and 7D?OSFA
- considering you are not a professional photographer and don't know which one has it or notOSFA
- On a 7D, you have slightly more depth of field than 5D. On 5D, wide lenses are wider.vaxorcist

get the 7D and this...
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/pr…It's L glass, only reason it doesn't have a red ring is the construction. A very good walking lens. Has stayed on my 7D since I got it.
- you can find on ebay for 800********
- It is a nice lens, too bad it gets dust inside so easily. Canon doesn't want to make EF-S L lenses.raf

I have one too and I'm still smiling. Keep reading your blogs and arguing over bullet points, I'll be over here taking nice pictures.
