We've seen the difference in sensors (thanks v3) but how about video? Would the 7D be able to produce the quality of video the 5D does? I love this feature and although it might not be as important to most of photographers, I freakin' want it!

Probably mostly similar video quality, 7D may be slightly worse in low light, 5D will be able to do shallower depth of field. 7D will however probably have a slightly cleaner image, as it's internal databus is faster and 7D has 2 image processing chips, not one. 7D can do 24P 1080 too.... If you want less depth of field with 7D, use a slightly longer lens or get closer or open aperture one stop...

re: video, i trust prolost. http://prolost.com/blog/2009/10/…
having 60fps is pretty rad, even if it is only available at 720p.

I'm leaving today to do this http://www.hollyfordtrack.com with my new 7D. If my skills are lacking, this is the last you'll hear of it, otherwise I'll post some pics on my return...

I am thinking of picking up a 7d as my first DSLR, to upgrade from my little Sony digital point and shoot. Don't think it's quite worth going up to a 5dmkii just yet.
The retailer I'm thinking of buying it from gives the option of three different lenses to go with it; a 17-85mm, a 18-135 or a 15-85mm. Anyone have any opinion as which would be better? I already have some older manual zoom lenses I can attach that were given to me by my late grandfather.

If you have zooms already, I would get a canon 10-22mm or sigma 10-20mm. 17mm isnt really wide enough on the 7D.
