As an American, I must say I feel privileged. It seems like people in other countries all follow American news, watch American TV shows, listen to American music, and know how to speak English, even though the reverse is not true.

they speak english because of britain. to some extent we translate british tv shows into american. we listen to british music. the reverse is also true. it's a bit of a feedback loop.

I say you earned it, if it wasn't for America, there would be no TV, no electricity, no Internet, no Macs, nothing. The least the rest of the world can do to appreciate this is to learn the supreme language and try to become like America by paying attention to what America is doing, so that maybe, one day, they could make themselves useful.

Learn your TV history. Although debate exists between Zworykin and Farnsworth as the father of television, the actual concept was pioneered by Edwin Belin, an english man living in France.
Also electricity was not INVENTED by anyone. It always existed. And an American didn't DISCOVER it. Humans were aware of electricity for thousands of years, including ancient Greeks having primitive chemical batteries.
Michael Faraday (English) created the dynamo. But maybe you are only thinking of the light bulb, invented by Edison. He was American.
