They have amazing work, but yeahhh... this is like the same type of style the university I used to work for wanted... SHOWCASE area! Twitter and news feeds! BLOG! YES!
But, it's easy to use and some of the imagery is nice... I mean, what do we really need from their site but usability? It's stubbornly consistent with the blogs all adhering to the same format... and there's something to be said for that.

The truth is that nobody has patience nowadays for a wacky flash site that takes too long to get to the point.
You have to remember that all those flash sites became popular because they appeared at a time were there was no real video on the internet.
Nowadays you can watch HD videos Full size, so nobody gives a rat's ass about all those Flash sites.

Give it six months. Every single person who bitched in this thread will have launched a site with the same blog format and salmon color.
- The blog format is a trend that just suits portfolios very well, and I'm sure everyone here's used it alreadySigDesign
- what a load of rubbish @ukit, that kind of site was made like 3 years ago, seriously if that is what you think I hope you are not a designerimnotaplumber
- not a designerimnotaplumber
- I am, but you obviously have no sense of humorukit

scarily similar to the site I'm getting finished for us right now. fucking typical, hahaha
I like the blog sites - I think any client who wants a unique, strategic solution to their needs will appreciate the background and context that the format gives everything. Means you're fundamentally not waiting 6 months between updates of new work too. The fact that it will genuinely be "different" with different content every time someone goes there is a powerful seller to clients, means you're demonstrably moving forward at all times.

the internet has clearly eaten itself and is subsequently shitting out big turds if this is what can be considered forward-thinking design...
I vaguely remember the days when it seemed like intelligent interaction designers might actually be leading the masses into new and exciting directions and seeking new ways to digest content? Kinda seems like everyone is just rolling over and playing dead, embracing this bland and impersonal approach... Making sure the lowest common denominator can find everything simply, easily and without using their brain...
Personally, I find the approach boring, unauthoritative and just poorly designed...
- +1imnotaplumber
- why on earth would their agency site be anything else though really? what purpose would that serve? their client work, where appropriate, should be doing thatkelpie
- appropriate, should be the stuff doing that. This is about info on where they are and what they're doingkelpie
- yeah but I would never hire an interactive agency with such a lame site... a print studio, maybeneue75_bold
- in case of a really strong web design studio possibly, but not interactive... group94 is the best example of somethingneue75_bold
- engaging, beautifully designed and executed and simple to use..neue75_bold

- group94 is crap they use flash wich is a constraining technology for todays web and future********
- yes, like I'd waste my time typing a serious reply to you...neue75_bold
- if you want to build stand alone concept use flash other else if you want to plainfully communicate with the web dont use it********
- dont use it, it's a pain in the arse, management etc. fuck that shit********

neue, i couldn't agree more
these agency sites have traditionally been an indication of where the industry should go. now they all look the same and are merely a reflection of the homogeneity that is sweeping the web.
this will only serve to reinforce this direction.
- BusterBoy0
If I see another Agency site that's been all Twittered, Facebook'd, RSS'd and blogged to death I'm going to fucking puke. Are they so far up themselves that they think people actually give a shit what they're doing tomorrow for lunch? It's pure self indulgent garbage that will have it's 15 minutes then fade off into the sunset along with drop shadows, rounded type logos and web 2.0 reflections.
Yawn if this is the sign of things to come.
- You're tired of agencies having Facebooks and Twitters? Well, too bad. People are following them, which says something.juhls
- just cause people are following it, don't mean you have to go the same way. you could lead instead of follow.akrokdesign
- It's to recruit designers. it's an image thing. BSS relies upon attracting top talent.homeostatic

To any of you that took actual offense to my post yesterday (previous page), I apologize. I was just pissing around of course. The ones of you that know me, should be fully aware of that, obviously.

It's reasonably well done but as others have said before, it's utterly generic and uninspiring.
As for the trend towards tweeting and all that shit, I seriously hope that dies a death.
- formed0
Yup, boring, but I don't think they need a snazzy site for business.
Probably opted for the 'safe' bet and keep diverse business interests going.

I think the above little clique of pissy, embittered left-behinders should fuck off back to wherever they usually post and let the rest of us discuss the merits of this perfectly valid content delivery vehicle before they get so boring the internet breaks

I agree that the redesign is pretty stock standard, and for an industry leader they should be putting something out there that pushes the envelope.
There are quite a few folk on here eager to criticise, but how would you go about creating an industry leading website? it's easy to say 'ooh throw some nice javascript at it'... but that's a bit vague. What would YOU have done to standout from the crowd?
I think it's time for a QBN brainstorm :-)
What should we be seeing from these leading agencies?
- I wouldn't do want everyone else is doing.imnotaplumber
- I agree - hence why these guys need to stop following everyone elses trends.Not_Just_Another

the design makes perfect sense...the site feels alive - like a site that has news and is changing a lot and in the real world every day.
highly immersive flash web constructs often seem like an interactive exhibit at a museum. they can be cool, but really you know it was designed for one purpose with one idea and is not adaptable. and the construct often seems more important than the work.
an agency needs to show new work as it does it, and the site needs to make sure that the work is front and center. this way, the work is 'news' and is front and center and the site is a platform to get the new work published as a 'news' story
anyone would have to be a little bit suspicious of an agency that spends too much time on their own site - i mean, dont you have anyting else to do? like paying work? the design of this site is saying....we are working our asses off on a ton of things, every day...
