I liked BS's old site because it had personality. The Web 3.0 stuff is cool from a tech stand point but it's boring. Yeah, I know. "Let the work speak for itself". That's like a really hot chick who wears a snowsuit in the summer. Right now it's Big Snowsuit. I want to see what's under BS's snowsuit. At least incorporate some sexy time into the blog layout. Like give me a cool lil' logo animation like your first site. Something to make me rub one out. Anyways, that's just my personal opinion on their current site. They still kick ass.
On another note...
Maybe this is the new Web 3.0.
- Blog-like sites.
- Flickr for yo' folio.
- JQuery over Flash animation
- Twitter-based New section.
- Serif fonts at 36 pt.Everyone's doing it. It's easier to update. SEO loves it. Your copywriter will love it. Creative Directors can be creative again.
Maybe this means Adobe should get their shit together and start making Flash better for the Web and mobile devices. Like really better. Like a back button that really fucking works, no matter how fast you click the button. Make the shit easier to maintain too. CMS and Flash shouldn't make your shit darker.
All this talk about Flash versus HTML/CSS etc. No matter what medium you use, it's about how you get the message across. Use whatever tools necessary. If download speed wasn't an issue, and video was as quick and easy to create and update as CSS, we'd all have 100% video-based sites. Maybe I'm just making shit up.
Anyways, that's another discussion. I've just polluted this thread with utter nonsense.
We really need to get rid of browsers.
- < you just called them BS. lol.akrokdesign
- I think personality is the big thing here, odopod's site has personality, f-i's does too even if it is clinicalimnotaplumber
- the colors they picked also. so traditional big agency. red, black and gray. "classic".akrokdesign
- akrokdesign0
they need to be consistent about what to caps and not.
fyi. this is the BEST news to have on your site...

It makes sense to have this safer agency site, but they should create an additional "experience" site where they can just go nuts with the flash stuff.
- With all the extra time 15 people working on 30 client projects have? Hehe.homeostatic
- NotByHand0
I can't help but laugh every time all of you pathetic cunts here point out all the "mistakes", all the things that suck, and how you would have done it so much sweeter when studios and people like this does anything. Meanwhile, these guys are swimming in the type of projects and clients that the vast majority of you can only fantasize about and will never experience.
What's that? "So we can't have an opinion?"... well, of course you can... in the same way that trailer trash in West Virginia talk about all the things that are wrong with "the Government" and how they would "run the country better."
Why don't you guys just take your sad envious asses and get back to work on that letterhead for the local Internet provider, or the site for that plumbing company, before your superior catches you wasting your time on here.
If you even still have a job that is, of course.- way to take it personally there fella.jarredbishop
- i know, your site is soooooooooooooooooo much better. so you can tell us off.akrokdesign
- Yeah it's better to just post ironic links to sites you don't like in your profilebraaad
- sounds like the bitter one > sktutopian
- now now utopian, just because i said you looked like a rapist. no need to get all personal.********
- *slow clap*juhls
- Pretty funny. "Cunts" might have been a bit harsh.homeostatic
- and who are you exactly?alex

I bet they are all still in the office working.

Lots of HTML/CSS "cliches" here. Big boxes of color on rollovers, big overgrown Georgia type, dotted borders a la A List Apart...
If you're gonna make it markup, get slick with some javascript- hire a kick-ass nerd to write some custom scripts for you. Big Spaceship's "master developer" or whatever is obviously too busy doing his hair. An agency like this should be trying to set itself apart, but this re-design doesn't do it. I actually thought it was the agency's blog at first, not their flagship site.
I think you guys overestimate how web saavy a lot of clients really are- most of them don't know the diff between Flash and HTML, and a good deal of them are actually impressed by agencies sh*tting out a few wack tweets a week.
- http://www.wktokyo.j… do it niceimnotaplumber
- Galaxie Polaris- one of my favesbraaad
- in other words it's an account driven agency with high pressure, quick turnaround demands for the design dept.robotron3k

@NotByHand If something sucks its fine to point it out. Everyone has bascially agreed that odopod and fi did it better than BSS. That's just the way it is. I LAUGH at you for getting so ramped up about our criticisms.
Go back to cleaning toilets.
- Yeah, this coming from someone with no work to show of his own.utopian
- get over it!imnotaplumber

What's that? "So we can't have an opinion?"... well, of course you can... in the same way that trailer trash in West Virginia talk about all the things that are wrong with "the Government" and how they would "run the country better."

I was going to list Tolleson as a good example of a mark up portfolio, but they have gone and done a flash redesign.

all these ad agencies going "web 2.0" might convey they understand how content currently lives on the internet and how to cross-reference, but it also promotes the consolidation of content by large companies that manage those sites.
