Bit on the expensive side for a basic, 5 minute job like that.

Yep. Kinda pricey for something that may have been hiding in a parts-bin from the early seventies....

Where does one find clients that pay stupid amounts of money for crappy ass work?

ehh, it's okay. It has a 60's feel to it.
I doubt that the 487k is for the logo. Most of that figure probably covers time for implementation.
- Yeah, I'm sure it's not *just* for the M but that figure wouldn't cover production costs or anything.********
- 480K for me, 7K for the M********
- Yeah, I'm sure it's not *just* for the M but that figure wouldn't cover production costs or anything.

I guess W.O. just can't have all the fun when it comes to selling clients on insanely distasteful new identities.

i like the M bit.
- Yeah, the 'M' has a nice flavour to it, but the type isn't doing much for me...skwiotsmith

I think it's funny how we all want design to be taken seriously and viewed as an integral part of everything we do, but every time a large brand is launched someone comes to this forum, posts and out of context logo and quotes the price. Then we all take it apart.

I hear what you're saying, but I'm not sure that just looking at a logo out of context is necessarily a bad thing. Isolated, this is not a very interesting or engaging form/shape/design. Some logos are, this one is not.
Price is just a point of interest; people are always asking 'how much is a logo?' 'Is fifty bucks too much to charge?'
Just shows to go you, fifty bucks is not too much to pay for an un-engaging logotype.

I think a logo can be judged on it's own when that's all there is. But when it's intended to be a component of a larger, bigger brand I think it's a bit unfair. Especially when a 400K price tag is directly underneath it.
I'd find it difficult to stomach almost any logo with that kind of price tag attributed to it, no matter how good it is without understanding what went into making it and under what circumstances it was made.
- Agreed.
But trust me when I say, the deployment of this *brand* is going to be lacklustre.******** - You may be right. I wouldn't be surprised to see it go badly but until I see the rest of it I'm just guessing.Groks
- Agreed.

zomg, how can design ever be taken seriously when so many companies decide they can do brand communication design and strategy in house or through an agency...
I think what we should do is have a laugh for christ sake... nothing sadder than a designer who thinks his sneaker logo design is contributing something terribly important to society...
if we can't laugh at the folly of life, what can we laugh at... ok, maybe the fools that paid for this effort...
- haha.

- "laugh at the folly of life" - and you think I'm being too serious? It's branding, it's what we do, nothing wrong with having a semi-serious conversation about something once in a while is there?Groks
