I would absolutely love to launch a fuckin torpedo right at that table of harpies on the View. But only after I get to run up there and grab the hefty black chick and the skinny white bitch, and clunk their heads together like coconuts.

That Elizabeth is such a nagger!
- Glitterati_Duane0
Why do white people care if black people say it or not say it?
- PIITB0
Because if you want that word gone than its got to stop being used by everyone.
You can't yell at your kids for farting at the dinner table if you husband farts every time he comes into a room.

Why wouldn't a race rail against not being able to do something that another race says they have every right to do? African-Americans fought long and hard to eliminate those kind of inequities (and the fights not over, even).
Either it should be acceptable for everyone to use it or it shouldn't be acceptable for anyone to use it.That being said, hurtful words are just that, hurtful, regardless of what they are or who's using them. Everyone should be seeking ways to be kinder to each other.
Now if you'll excuse me, i have a bong to hit and some trees to hug

I agree with what most people have said...totally stupid for anyone to use this word especially black folks. Talk about counter-intuitive to your whole culture. When I used to ride the bus I would here black peeps (mostly younger) use it constantly. Personally it pissed me off just as much as if I would have heard some nazi skinhead use the word.
- harlequino0
I can only speak for myself but:
-maybe because it's a constant reminder of our collective past, and that we are continuously locked into a divisive culture. We can't even have a collective past, because historical and contemporary experiences are so vastly different
-maybe because it represents the reality that shit is still pretty fucked up, so much so, that the reality is represented so strongly by a single word, not intentions, not progess, not discussion or healing, but one goddamn wordHell maybe everyone should use it. constantly. So much so that it becomes meaningless. Maybe then we'll strip away the facade of language and focus on intention and perception. I dunno. Just a thought. A nagging thought (*Haha, see what i did on that last part? Crazy lolz!)

people who use that word are ignorant
- then its true to the original meaning7point34
- It's really not as simple as thatGlitterati_Duane
- People throw insults around in here all the time. Mostly in good fun. No real hostility.Glitterati_Duane
- Banning the N word for black people is like saying you can't call your friend a cunt when you both know it's all love.Glitterati_Duane
- Black people just don't like white people saying it because they don't trust where it's coming from.Glitterati_Duane
- whether that person is sayin it as a friend or just saying it to be racist while pretending to be your friend.Glitterati_Duane
- redant0
nigger whuz up nigga what chu be doin? Why cant i say that?
- Jaline0
To me, it's almost as bad as saying, "faggot". And I know more people say that all the time.
- I prefer queer.designbot
- not to refer to gay people though.designbot
- Good point, are gays going to claim that word someday as their own?Jimbo82
- Yeah and it's wrong. But are we really at the point where we want to tell gay people that they can't say it among themselves.Glitterati_Duane
- themselves.Glitterati_Duane
- Some gays to claim it.Glitterati_Duane
- *doGlitterati_Duane
- yeah, Glitter, I know what you mean. eventually though...Jaline
- Glitterati_Duane0
I personally don't give a shit if white people say it. It's just a word to me. It doesn't define me. But I understand why other black people want to own the word. And I say let them have it. Who cares right? The only reason I would care if I was white is if I wanted to say it myself.
- Or Desi (sorry Jaline) or any other raceGlitterati_Duane
- Eh, it's debatable if I'm considered to be "desi"Jaline
