No one can say you are inferior. Only you can.

I get it. Free speech is one thing. We have a guy in the States who likes to picket funerals of US soldiers, gay people, or whoever else falls into his scope. He is vile and hateful but I don't question his political right to say whatever crap he wants too.
I'm not talking about that. You said "you need to..". My point is that you are telling someone else with different experiences from you how they should respond to racism, bigotry, etc. It's kinda like if someone were raped, robbed, or lost their spouse or ...fill in blank... they need to move on, get over it, etc. It's insensitive. Until you've walked in someone's shoes don't tell them what or how to react.

seriously, i've been in such occasions, more than once.
i am just pointing out what is best on a rational level. both parties have a responsibility.
but over here, it can't be dragged to court, so what can you do about it?
must add that some racial remarks can still be fought out in court though. i don't know if nigger falls in that same category here as it does in the states.
also, the huge nigger word in neutra on the prev. page is ofcourse a joke and a slight provocation to see how the debate would evolve from there.
i am not in any way the right person (noone is) to point at any race and call the inferior or offend them.
yet, rationally the best thing is to just be fucking proud about yourself, regardless race, sex, religion and what not. so that you can easier disregard an offensive remark or simply laugh about it.

Seriously, if you let the person who said it get to you, they ultimately win because they've succeeded in annoying a person. IMO, idiots like those deserve a one way ticket to deep space or hell.
The only way to help stop this bigotry is to not be reactive at all. If enough people realize that people are stupid and want to say those stuff, and they ignore it and move on instead of whining/etc., then usage of the n-word will stop....

ATTN monkeyshine: "Can't you accept that there are certain experiences that you just can't understand and be respectful?"
Thats a bunch of crap rhetoric used to perpetuate the status of being wronged. EVERYONE can understand... through something called compassion. Being the language referee because you are sensitive doesn't solve anything.
Being angry and sensitive about wrongs done to your race all the time is just kind of sad. Accept that it was wrong, be mad when it happens to you again, but move on with your life.
"So, if someone is hurt or offended by the 'n' word or kike or dyke they should just get over it and be a bigger person like you?"
Answer: Yes.

look at religious wars (middle east/israel) for instance.
if they would learn to control their own sensitivity about almost anything related to their beliefs they could actually become modern day self-controlling human beings.
and take themselves and others a little less seriously.

I am a very serious person, but I don't get worked up when someone calls me a dog-eater or a flip.omgitsacamera - Being angry all the time might feel empowering in the moment, but staying that way...********

People who say that, or any racist word, regardless of context, deserves to have a sign hanging on them that says how stupid they are for saying it.
Better: An 'Ignore' if someone invented a button for it.
- Again, word's can't be racist. Only people who give them meaning can be.********
- yeah, I was thinking this same thing. George Carlin said it best. Words have no power, people give them power.Josev
- so 99% of rappers should have a sign hanging from them?PIITB
- if the rule applies it should apply to everyone, equallysputnik2

wow this thread has gotten really deep, and alot of emotion has been expressed.
Whether your allowed to say the word or not is ridiculous I just don't see how banning a word from one group can help them overcome their differences with other groups. We need to get past what has happened in the past but not forget, I am not saying I want to say nigger at all. But what I am saying is if a white comic says it in the same meaning that a black comic says it than it needs to be taken in the context that it was said in and not automatically placed on the racist list.
heres my yogism for the day.
if we all want to be equal than we need to be equal.
