my wife made me go see this with her today. Complete waste of money, one of the worst movies ever made

*spoilers invovled in thinking this through
I would have to go back and watch it again (HA!) but I thought that the message of "respect mother earth or she will get you" was a little too on the nose for Shyamalan. I kept picking up on "every person gives off energy" and that the earth was responding to that. I noticed some little things like the newspaper headline that read "Killadelphia" and the fact that the old lady was alone when she was infected. The vibe I got was that there needed to be more love not more hybrid cars. Also why I think Marky Mark and Doe Eye were not infected when they went outside to be together. They were both full of L-O-V-E for each other (I thought the only part of the movie that felt like a Shyamalan film started when they were at the old lady's house and ended when they left the old lady's house.) Even if "love one another" was the message it doesn't save the movie, but it does leave a little bit of hope for future Shyamalan ventures.

co2 - the "respect earth" thing was over the top. He could have left it at subtle, but decided to hit people over the head with it... I guess he thinks his audience isn't smart enough. This is why No Country for Old Men Ruled all! Also, the Love thing was stupid. That they decided to go out right at the right time... ugh.
eighteen - why were they good title sequences? The fonts were terrible and didn't seem to fit the style of the movie. They seemed forced (like a lot of his directing).
I know everyone hates it, but I stand by it, in principle it was good, some good tense/freaky moments. Although most of the time I'm not a fan of his directing, he did have some cool sequences... like the people jumping off the building.

Sixth Sense, all the way. The rest is repetition.

hahaah all the horrible reviews and friends telling me how excruciating it was only makes me want to watch it more.
I think I really, really, really wanted to see when I saw Mark Wahlberg on Conan like last week and he was touting the movie (like he should) like it was the greatest thing ever. Then the clip they showed was him going, "GIVE ME A SECOND! JUST GIVE ME A SECOND! PLEASE! PLEASE EVERYONE JUST GIVE ME A SECOND! I JUST NEED A SECOND! PLEASE! PLEASE JUST GIVE ME A SECOND!"
I was fucking dying!

I saw the movie last night, did not even read this thread till now , i liked the movie. Plain and simple it was different . Was it the best film I ever say, no but if you think this is the worst movie ever you don't watch movies much

Had to bump this thread. Went and saw it tonight, and thought it was dope. If you like M. Night Shyamalan, and his style, you wil like this movie. I knew I shouldn't trust what other peeps are saying. It was much much better than Lady in the Water (which is his only film I hate). Anyone who liked the Village or Signs(which I like both alot but know other people hate) will like this film. There were some genuinely disturbing scenes in the film, ones that catch you off gaurd. He also achieves a nice "small town" feel in alot of the shots like he did in Signs.
Perhaps the problem is these days with LOTR, Spiderman, Batman, Transformers, etc. People are expecting some kind of epic title, which this movie certainly is not. I personally like this style of film more than any "epic" title though. I would see it again...it leaves you with the thought that anything could happen, which I know is what M.Night said he was going for....well done.

Just sawr it:
Some of the dialogue and acting was so detached, it was like a bad Kubrick shining thing going on, but whinier. If you can get past that its almost like a weird parody of other Shyamalan films.
I still kind of like it as a film.
- I agree, especially in the beginning. Luckily it didn't last, and got much better imo.designbot

Marky Mark had the clueless look on his face the whole time, which was kinda annoying.
The movie was actually pretty good, I don't know why people hate it so much.

Anyone who doesn't like this movie, but then digs movies like Transformers I am going to give "a Slappening".
