So tired of this, then Romney tries to get all Kennedy the other day, Huckabee is taking phone calls on his cell from "God" during speeches. I hate this country, sometimes. People are so fucking deluded.

what bothers me more is credentials wont matter, sheep will just flock to where their "faith"(/fear) dictates they should vote

On a bit more down to Earth, but even more disappointing (yet funny) note:
"In fact, the Senate Republicans are so accustomed to blocking measures that when the Democrats finally agreed last week to their demands on a bill to repair the alternative minimum tax, the Republicans still objected, briefly blocking the version of the bill that they wanted before scrambling to approve it later."

What do you have against people voting the consciences, dobs?
If you don't like someone's message... DON'T VOTE FOR HIM... but for those who feel that his message fits their needs, their principles and their conscience... so be it.
This forum often forgets that the U.S. in inundated w/a variety of religious beliefs - just because you don't have any religion in your life (which is fine!!!)... doesn't mean that other's DON'T HAVE FAITH.
YOU ARE NOT 'SMARTER' THAN THEM EITHER!!! You just have different beliefs.
Religion is going nowhere!... Separation of Church and State means the Gov. doesn't dictate what religion you live by... but Government (in the U.S.) will always be filled w/varying opinions/beliefs... whether atheist or Christian or Jewish or Muslim... or WHATEVER...
... vote your conscience (if you're going to bother to vote). Bitching about those you disagree with will get you nowhere... accept maybe get you an 'I agree, man!!!' from a dominantly 20-30-something Design forum.
*takes deep breathe... realizes this post will get shredded... awaits a 'GodBoy' response from Dobbler-Do-Gooder. :D
(btw - thanks for that hook-up, Dobs... lolz). :D
- dude, anyone ('faith' / 'no-faith) who thinks answering a mobile phone call from 'g*d' is remotely acceptable from a pres candidate is retarded.madirish
- candidate is retarded.
period.madirish - GOOD!... they're retarded... but WHAT CAN YOU DO ABOUT... outside of 'don't vote for the loony'?PonyBoy
- What you can do is let other people know about it.mrdobolina
- You don't think smearing a guy because of his religious pref. is shitty? Because that's what Huckabee was doing.blaw
- Amen, PonyBoy.gramme

Ponyboy, Meeklo was unaware that Huckabee took a phone call from God during a speech. Now he knows and is more informed because of it. What exactly is wrong with that?
- nothing is wrong with that, dobs... my point is that these issues/evnts will never go away... unless you abolish religion.PonyBoy
- ... religion.PonyBoy
- ... and good luck accomplishing that. :)...PonyBoy
- Attacking religion is only going to strengthen the stance of those w/Faith.PonyBoy
- Religious voters vote for all of the wrong reasons. Did abortion go away after bushmrdobolina
- was elected? No, that vote went down the fucking drain.mrdobolina
- THEY VOTED THEIR CONSCIENCES!!!!! Man... what's it going to take for you to understand that?PonyBoy
- did voting in this current House / Senate end the War?... no...
... you see my point yet?PonyBoy - because of republican obstruction, the war goes on.mrdobolina
- nope... you don't see my point. ;)PonyBoy
- there are more important things for the president to work on besides the gays and babiesmrdobolina
- because other than that, what is the religious issues? There are none.mrdobolina
- IN YOUR OPINION, DOBS.
The world doesn't revolve around just you and your beliefs.PonyBoy - 'God' is here to stay... all sorts of 'Gods' at that... there is NOTHING you can do about it...PonyBoy
- ... accept... 'vote your conscience.'PonyBoy
- that is ridiculous. anyone who thinks stopping gays marrying andabortion are the most..mrdobolina
- *exceptPonyBoy
- important issues facing the US is an idiot. sorry.mrdobolina

Former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee's surge in Iowa, from single digits in the polls to a virtual tie for the lead among Republicans, has captivated the political world and prompted speculation about just how he did it.
The Fix may have found the answer: a physician from Montgomery, Ala., named Randy Brinson.
Brinson is the keeper of a massive e-mail list of much-coveted Christian voters that Huckabee is using to reach and organize people in early-voting states such as Iowa.
Brinson's list numbers about 71 million contacts, with 25 million identified as belonging to "25 and 45 years old, upwardly mobile, right-of-center, conservative households," he said.
The list was constructed for GOTV and voter registration purposes during 2004 using publicity around Mel Gibson's movie The Passion of the Christ.

Well when they vote their "religious conscience" they are voting in such a way that they are trying to dictate what someone they have never met, and never will, can and cannot do.
Why in the fucking world does a Man, or Woman in East Jumbumfuck, Alabama care if two gays marry in West Jumbumfuck, Washington? Or if a fetus is aborted by a woman in NeverEverWillSeeYou, Pennsylvania?
Especially since the Candidate that they tie their conscience too, is never ever going to do anything in relation to those and other issues, but is simply taking advantage of them for their own agendas?
If they don't want gay marriage ... then they shouldn't marry someone of their same sex. If they don't want to have an abortion ... well, here's a novel idea don't.
And if they have a problem with their children growing up around these elements, shouldn't it be their responsibility to raise them properly in their conscience? By being not tolerant to those around you, but instead accepting other's differences?
But no. This is why a lot of, and there is no other way to say this (or perhaps I don't fail into the category I am about to write about, haha), people of faith stop outwardly practicing their religion because they look around at what "their" church is spewing out and realize that it has become filled with hate for those outside of their respective sect, and they have the intellect to think for themselves and make a rational judgment to not blindly follow whatever someone else tells them under the guise of coming from G-d.
Most of those people still are religious, they do not wear it on their sleeves, think about the actual real issues that concern the country they live in when elections come around, and usually have an IQ to reflect as such.
I can see why I never really get into these threads, because I just type and type, and don't have time to read above to see if it made sense, haha.
- NeverEverWillSeeYou, Pennsylvania. Got a cousin there. It's hilly.harlequino
- It is fucking hilly here.flavorful
- FILM ACTORS GUILD!! Lolz... I agree, dude... good luck getting that point across to those w/religion. ;)PonyBoy
- w/abortion... gay marriage etc... tax dollars (yours and my money) are in there... can't forget that.PonyBoy
- Hrm, good point about the tax dollars. As much as I make though, I don't mind taxes. I'm a fan of socialism for sure.flavorful

- It is absolutely a distraction, they run on religion and govern on economics.mrdobolina
