The main GOP meme is to get Americans to expect less and become disenfranchised.
There are other examples of nations who make this stuff work and get results. We should demand the same.

Hey smart guy what does defunding mean? It means we don't pay the government to provide for things for us. Which means we have more money to do things for ourselves. Who do you think can handle our money better...us or our government?
That's the problem with your logic, you think that by giving more money to our government we all get more. Why don't you go give the bum down the street $100 every week and tell him to get your groceries. I'm sure he won't also buy a bottle of gin and a pack of smokes...
You still haven't answered about how well our government is handling all the extra taxes we've voted in over the last decade for public schools. They're doing great right? Extra funding (taxes) = a better life for all?

Tommy, the kids without insurance have no fucking option. What do you not understand about that?
If they don't get insurance from the fucking government, they have no fucking insurance.
Do you speak/read english?
- mrdobolina0
The federal government mandated no child left behind and didn't fund it. so schools take 3 months out of the year to teach to a test. It's fucked, you aren't going to get an argument from me on that. But the question at hand is SCHIP.

did a 12 song compact disk stuck on repeat just tell me i'm getting a lot of use out of saying the same thing?
ironic.

apathy is cool, you ignorant fuck.

u think he likes radiohead?

And this is going to fix it? I'll cry for those kids if you tell me that this is going to fix everything. Is it? You think this will fix it. Just like the California Lottery fixed our schools yes? Go give your money to that bum, tell him you want groceries delivered every week...I want to see how well your theory works. Then I'll cry for these kids.
This doesn't fix the problem. The problem is not that kids don't have insurance, the problem is 'why do these kids not have insurance'...the reality is that they don't have insurance, the reality is that giving money to our gov to fix our problems only fixes reality for today...it does not fix the reality that will be there tomorrow.
Don't sit here and try to hurl personal insults at me for having a different opinion than you. I am just as frustrated that you don't get my pov as you are that I don't get yours. I see why you want to help .. I mean they are kids for gods sake. But the difference is simply that I don't trust our government with our taxes, this is an opinion based on history. I don't think that this will solve our problems, because it doesnt address our problems, it conceals our problems by digging deeper in our pockets. If you're telling me that this money is going to reduce the cost of the inflated prices we pay for health care, I might be with you on this. But you aren't telling me that, so I'm not with you. Let's agree to disagree. I can live just fine knowing that some guy doesn't agree with me.
- k0na_an0k0
don't mix up my pity for your futility with apathy friend.
- mrdobolina0
so what is the solution? What fixes it?
Kona, why not just get the fuck out of here, you obviously have no interest in the topic. Is it just to be an irritating cunt?
- k0na_an0k0
grow up rick.
i have a great interest in the topic, i just choose not to waste my day talking endlessly about it on a public forum, and i sure as hell won't waste my time white a guy who's rattling off juvenile insults on a message board.
- mrdobolina0
hobo hammer poop
- mrdobolina0
you might as well be saying that.
you come into a thread where people are talking and disrupt it with what? a solution? your opinion? neither.

tommyo, u really think that if you keep the extra $2/year in your pocket on the tax day you will live happily (and oh so rich) ever after? The problem with your and many conservative republicans is that they think in very small imediate terms -- will this resolution fix it tomorrow? Dude, the society and economy is a HUGELY complicated thing that NOONE trully understands so all you ca do is make small steps in the right direction and hope for the best.
- tommyo0
What'll fix it? Healthcare costs are really high, so why are they high? I've got a few ideas about that:
- Judges allowing litigious lawsuits into the courts, jury's who actually vote for them. This drives up doctor malpractice insurance, which like any other business, they pass on the cost to us.
- Illegals who tend to use emergency rooms for everything, even colds. This is a big one btw. I know that here in California we're losing hospitals because they're going bankrupt because of unpaid bills...despite being severely overcrowded. There is no easy answer to this one since the country seems quite divided on the topic of illegals, I think we need to finish that fence, secure it and deport the ones who aren't providing a benefit to our country - the same thing that most every other country does with people who apply for citizenship.
- Insurance companies. I think we could possibly look at a different business model for providing insurance and cut out the middlemen. i.e. I've heard of groups of doctors who you pay a monthly fee to and they treat you when you need it...it's a group of doctors with various specialists that can provide a range of medical services. So it's basically medical insurance without the insurance companies. This is a prime example of cutting the bureaucracy at the top for the benefit of the bottom. Think of all that extra waste that is being spent running an insurance company, who basically collects your money and tells you what doctor you can go to and for what, why not form smaller groups of doctors and let them interface with their clients? It seems like it could be more efficient and a bigger benefit to both the patient and the doctor.
Anyhow, I need to get to work and stop changing government policy on a graphic design chatroom.

pr2,
It's not just an extra $2. And it is a path that I don't believe in. Why do you liberals (I'm an independent) insist that giving more and more money to our every growing government is going to fix our problems? I still fail to see the reality in this. Ideally, it's wonderful. Reality tells me that it's a pipe dream. Again, how are our school systems doing? It's a relevant parallel, dobs already agreed that our school system is horrible and that is despite all the money we've put into the schools via your '$2 / a day' theology. How are they? It shows you just how full of shit this idea is. The bad part is that this is obviously just the beginning of a national health care system. Our government is not fiscally responsible and now we're going to go ahead and let them be in charge of our health? I can't wait to see what kind of doctor is ready to cut me open when he's getting paid the same as our teachers get paid. Sounds great! I hope he's as blindly ideal as a lot of you.
You guys really think that this bill stops with middle class children? Cause I have some silk boxers I've made from cardboard I'd love to sell you.
- mrdobolina0
some good ideas there. living up north I don't see the volume of illegals that you must see.
- pr20
reality check on the "illegals". I was living in the states (legally) the past 10 years and had to go to ER only once. My brother was in ER twice during that time. The ammount of paper work and the hasle of the hospital sending u the bill month after month even though u proved to them that you don't have to pay is too much for me to have to deal with it unless my life depends on it. Notice that i was LEGAL -- so i didn't have to worry that revealing my address might have some consequences and still my family in all those years was in ER only 3 times... SO yeah your "illegals going to hospitals for free care even with a cold" makes lots of sense.
