What'll fix it? Healthcare costs are really high, so why are they high? I've got a few ideas about that:

    - Judges allowing litigious lawsuits into the courts, jury's who actually vote for them. This drives up doctor malpractice insurance, which like any other business, they pass on the cost to us.

    - Illegals who tend to use emergency rooms for everything, even colds. This is a big one btw. I know that here in California we're losing hospitals because they're going bankrupt because of unpaid bills...despite being severely overcrowded. There is no easy answer to this one since the country seems quite divided on the topic of illegals, I think we need to finish that fence, secure it and deport the ones who aren't providing a benefit to our country - the same thing that most every other country does with people who apply for citizenship.

    - Insurance companies. I think we could possibly look at a different business model for providing insurance and cut out the middlemen. i.e. I've heard of groups of doctors who you pay a monthly fee to and they treat you when you need it...it's a group of doctors with various specialists that can provide a range of medical services. So it's basically medical insurance without the insurance companies. This is a prime example of cutting the bureaucracy at the top for the benefit of the bottom. Think of all that extra waste that is being spent running an insurance company, who basically collects your money and tells you what doctor you can go to and for what, why not form smaller groups of doctors and let them interface with their clients? It seems like it could be more efficient and a bigger benefit to both the patient and the doctor.

Anyhow, I need to get to work and stop changing government policy on a graphic design chatroom.
