(Oct 10 07, 11:27)Rhetorical question: Why do all Bush supporters have difficulty spelling?
- alacran0
Seems like Bush wants to deny the genocide so that later in history people will be inclined to deny what atrocities he has committed.
I have heard first handed accounts of the mutilation and rape of peoples' parents and sisters from the Armenian Genocide. Not something to be swept under the rug. Now about that sniper someone ordered?

We have yet to reap the horrible legacy that Bush and his cronies have sowed...

OK, here's a really sad followup to the SCHIP story.
http://www.baltimoresun.com/news…
It seems my good friends from Baltimore who had the balls to actually stand up and give a human voice to this issue are now getting hammered by the knee-jerk right. They are being stalked, reciving death threats, and generally having their entire existance called into question. They are an awesome, hard-working family who had their lives shattered by a horrible accident, had the guts to speak out, and now, the right has chosen to attack them and their children. Many of he responses on that articles reader feedback sicken me.
I remember last time we ate over at their house we lit a fire in an indoor fireplace and grilled burgers on an old grate....
//yea they're hiding shitloads of wealth...
They qulified for the assistance, spoke up about the issue and are now the targets of thousands of hateful neo-cons.
There are those who want children to recieve health care and those who want to lynch a young family in crisis...what side are you on?
- ********0
That was, so Bush.

(Oct 11 07, 08:46)So those are the two sides huh? People who love children and people who hate children? There are extremists and I don't condone people going after these people, that's pretty despicable. But it's not as black and white as the two sides you're offering. There is a shit load of gray here.
I had a thought about this yesterday when I was driving home. It's pretty comparable to the homeland security department - which I'm sure a lot of you are against, as am I. The thing is, we had all the intelligence we needed to stop 9/11 before having a homeland security dept. There was just so much bureaucracy and inefficiency involved that nothing was done...so the government solution to the fore mentioned problems (inefficiency and bureaucracy) is to add MORE government bureaucracy by adding a new department ... costing us even more money. Why not work on the problems? Why throw more money at it, is that going to solve the problem?
When you state it as either being for health care for children or not being for health care for children, I think we all will pick the former. But I still fail to see how throwing more money at it, without fixing the underlying problems that are causing it is a solution. We all need affordable health care, not just children. Fix the damn problems. Adding taxes to support new programs is going to do nothing to fix the problem, in my opinion it will only add to the problem. We'll just have less and less money to spend on necessities like health care, shelter, transportation, retirement etc.

just tell you people you don't care about anyone but yourself and be done with it. I'd respect that.
- tommyo0
No the problem is that I care about everyone, and not just middle class children. Why don't you just tell the government that you'll go ahead and fork over all your money just so long as no one has to actually work at something. Cause, you know, how would we make our lives livable without government support?
Makes complete sense.
- mrdobolina0
just say it.
- M0NEYCIDE0
that's bullshit that people won't work or mooch just because the government is helping more. Here in Canada the government helps a lot for good reason and what that does mean is that middle class/ lower middle class families have less of a burden while still working 50 hours a week, paying for their childrens needs including extremely expensive health care in special cases. This is about the burden of health care and the less a burden the better QUALITY of life for EVERYONE. The more poor the poor people are the more there's a gap in society. The USA is a separte country and what BUsh is intentionally doing is reinforcing that separation. Poor get poorer. Meanwhile he just blew a tillion on blowing shit up in the mideast.
- M0NEYCIDE0
I heard this supposed to be funded by some new tabaco tax and Bush had initially proposed 5 billion...so it's like obvioulsy the tax money is rolling in and it's at least 35 billion over the next few years so where the fuck does want to put the rest of the tabaco tax? his war fund? a country club? kill the puppies charity?
- tommyo0
Moneycide, maybe your government hasn't proven themselves to be as inefficient as ours. Giving more taxes to ours is like stuffing it down a storm drain and expecting doves to pop out.
Dobs, how are our public school systems working? We've all voted for so much money to go to our schools...how are they doing? I'll switch sides on this issue if you can show me that our government is fiscally responsible. So if you stop voting in bills that 'help our schools' then you are against children's education.
I'm not for Bush, and for all I know he made this decision for unscrupulous reasons. But I'm glad that this didn't go through.
- mrdobolina0
ban the schools!
You have no solutions other than to bitch about your taxes...
- TheBlueOne0
Geez..there's social medicine in Japan.
Are you about to tell me that the Japanese are somehow lazy?
- mrdobolina0
I just don't get how people can say that people that do not have insurance are better off getting it for themselves than being given it for free.
That is the problem, they can't.
And they wrap it up in "the beareaucracy of gov... blah blah blah"
These people do not care about anyone but themselves but don't have the balls to admit it to people.
- k0na_an0k0
wait a minute. bush is a bad president? our government is fucked? healthcare sucks? we're in debt? omg.... when did this happen!?!
we should really have more open discussions about these things to bring more awareness to the public.
- mrdobolina0
is that joke a hybrid?
you sure do get lots of mileage out of it...
- tommyo0
Dobolina, it's fine we just won't agree on this. I do care very deeply about people, which is why I oppose this. You want to say that I don't, I really could care less. I mentioned this before, so I'll do it again - I'm a 28 year old diabetic ex smoker who does not have health insurance, if I 'do not care about anyone but' myself ... then I should be all for national health care. I am not.
TBO, I never called people in the US lazy - if there is anything I can say about the Japanese, they tend to be extremely efficient. Our government is anything but. Do you disagree with that?
- mrdobolina0
What are poeple to think? you want to defund everything...
- mrdobolina0
I'm going to run down to the store and buy some groceries with good intentions, I will be right back...
