how can you say it wont speed up your work flow when you havent used it?
if you have a device that you can just put on a table, and it just downloads everything for you to see
not sure if there is a computer that does that.
also, in an example of sharing files to one another.. would be faster if you put two devices on a table and just simply drag to it?
if you look at ford design studio or any other car studio, this more hand drawn tool is being used for quite some time. not multitouch
the example they have shown is more to do with lifestyle. its coming closer to ubiquitous computing.

i just read that this is hitting the market in Dec?
also there is demo in NY and SF in june

I like it. Can't wait to use it.
Funny that people "ohh & ahh" when the MIT kids link their student projects of this technology or at TED talks, then pan it when MS comes out with a workable version.

I think it might be pretty cool in restaurants. no more waiting for the waiter/waitress to come back, tap the table and you got more beer coming.

Interactive white boards. This could work out great for architects/construction managers.
There are a lot of applications for this besides consumer-level.

doctors might use them for x-rays and so on. yall are throwing out the baby with the bath water, I think. because you are apple fanboys. ;)

Looks cool to me...

There are some restaurants that are already utilizing Tablet PC’s for their menus which is pretty suite and practical (for extensive beer/wine lists for example, or helping pair an entree with a particular drink).
This takes it to the next level, but as far as a restaurant utilizing this I do feel this may be more novelty. Plus this (like the tablets) are only going to be in upscale places probably so it may actually suit the uppitys just fine, heh.
In this vein, however, I do applaud Microsoft in finding a new way to screw over waiters/waitresses, haha.
I cannot wait to play with this, and work on Development Version to make things with.

what it means for us is.. more multimedia work in future

honestly to summarize, and/or defend the bonafide UE of the product based on if it was created my apple or MS is rediculous. we have a bit more insight into the critique that to resort to that, IMO.
Dinky- i think the item in question (as i see it) is where the state of multi-touch devices are for adaptation by a seemingly wide-spread luddite culture. now, will it work in NY/SF as a beta? probably. will it be taken to in Omaha? probably not. not that they are less-savy, but because it is not what they are use to, hence a degraded UE.
i think we will see much more multi-touch devices (iPhone clearly at forefront to consumer hands), but the durability and practical connectivity for someone will be the key issues.

(May 30 07, 05:40)Totally agree. I think it's actually pretty awesome. A new way of interaction and thinking of how to use a computer. I want to try it out!

It's fantastic...
...but it's not Microsoft's idea, is it? Haven't they nicked this off'a MIT (or whoever) and put some nice Apple-flavoured sheen over it?
oh and 'leeezur'? Gnnngh
- Jaline0
It's been around for a while, but I'm sure Microsoft will be adding things to it. Plus, they have the publicity.

Very nice. Could be a little tiring though.
