lol moth. actually that whip isn't so bad...a little to the left...
damn now i can't even punish myself without contributing to my own moral bankruptcy :(

Hmm. Cattle and Sheep, for just 2 examples, are dependant on us for survival. They are domesticated over 1000's years for our eating pleasure.
We provide them (in the best case) with food and shelter and protect them from illness. In turn, we eat them.
If we all give up meat on moral grounds, we've got a problem on our hands, that would lead to mass slaughter.

I atually enjoy killing.
Pogue Colonel : Marine, what is that button on your body armor?
Private Joker : A peace symbol, sir.
Pogue Colonel : Where'd you get it?
Private Joker : I don't remember, sir.
Pogue Colonel : What is that you've got written on your helmet?
Private Joker : "Born to Kill", sir.
Pogue Colonel : You write "Born to Kill" on your helmet and you wear a peace button. What's that supposed to be, some kind of sick joke?
Private Joker : No, sir.
Pogue Colonel : You'd better get your head and your ass wired together, or I will take a giant shit on you.
Private Joker : Yes, sir.
Pogue Colonel : Now answer my question or you'll be standing tall before the man.
Private Joker : I think I was trying to suggest something about the duality of man, sir.
Pogue Colonel : The what?
Private Joker : The duality of man. The Jungian thing, sir

Not to mention the wool we cultivate from sheep, or the leather we get from cows...

Shock art is BS. I'm so tired of it, living in NYC I see this kinda shite all the time. How about some talent instead of controversy?
- Kuz0
haha soda.
An we all happily kill human beings in our wars bla di bla. I almost joined the Royal Marines when I was 18, just to get a chance to shoot people. Sent off the application and everything. Then I decided i didn't want to fight for the white mans army and went to uni instead.
"These are great days we're living, bros. We are jolly green giants, walking the Earth with guns. These people we wasted here today are the finest human beings we will ever know. After we rotate back to the world, we're gonna miss not having anyone around that's worth shooting. "

because talent is difficult to define, and controversy is quite easy to define and exploit.

Am i the only one who doesn't find this work shockin or controversial?
But then, i'm a sicko

some people complain more about "shocking" art than they do about shocking reality.
- level20
What is your point lowimpakt?
- Kuz0
like yeeesh.. .how many hunters have deer heads mounted? And taxidermists and museums with stuffed animals... no one bats an eyelid.
- vespa0
his point is fairly obvious. but i complain about everything. does that make me morally balanced again?

my point is, as kuz just illustrated , that shock is selective.
shocking also sounds like stocking which makes me think of santa. happy days.

The reason I ask is because we're talking about art, not all the obvious problems going on in the world - he's on the wrong subject...

great quote Kuz!
As for the art, it is quite powerful, image wise. I onlylooked at a few examples, but my first thought was could she of not done it in photoshop?
Would it be as effective then, without actually having to kill the animals?
What difference would it make?
Image on it's own would give the same impression and message...wouldn't it?

I dont buy that pet owner bullshit that cute animals are better than others. In some countries your cute cat, dog or turtle is just dinner.
I dont eat any animals because they taste like shit, but I gladly wear a fucking warm and cosy hat made out of a cat if the weather required it.

naw, see i love the whole vicorian gothic thing. I used to watch hammer horror films as a kid ALL the time, big time fan. And like every victorian gentleman had a human skull in his study, or even a full skeleton. And its so macabre and creepy, especially the way the hammer horror films used that stuff. And i love it.
There's a shop in SoHo new york, called Natural History in Soho. It's so fuckin cool. I coulda bought half the shit in there. In the end i bought and alligators head. But there were like animal penises, baby (human)skeletons, sharks jaws, lines palms etc... It was so fuckin creepy and like weird seeing that. It's strange how we turn this stuff to ornaments, in a kinda pseudo-scientific curiosity way. But in reality its fuckin creepy.
And thats why i like these pieces, cos it kinda illustrates that point for me. it made me think about that alligators head i have on my bookshelf.
