saw Gravity last night. when i came out of the theater my wife and i went to the grocery store and I couldn't shake the feeling that I was floating through space. also I wanted to control my direction by jet pack. I loved the experience in the theater, did anyone see it in 3D? I'm usually hesitant to watch movies in 3D.

I don't want to start a thread about this but I'd like some input, so drgs, utopian, feel free to start a thread if you're so inclined.
I have noticed that ebay.com has a minimum viewport width of 1018 pixels before a horizontal scroll bar appears and they seem to care not one iota about being responsive or having a fluid layout. On items, this width is 1196 before the scroll bar appears and it kind of tries to be fluid down to 1146 before content begins to be clipped. Moving to the cart, it requires a width of 1218, a full 200 pixels wider than the home page to display page content.
I understand it's ebay and I'm sure their metrics say everything is all right, I'm just wondering if there are other high profile heavy traffic sites that don't seem to care about current development "trends". I mean, ebay still retains heavy use of tables in their page layout.
For example the amazon.com is 1018 pixels wide as well but does a much better job of being fluid and maintaining a common width throughout the shopping & buying experience.
