Honestly, enough of this shit, by the time the movie premiers we will have already seen the whole thing, giving away too much, there will be little or no surprises left.

Are people going to lose their shit when Han and Chewy show up? no we already did that with the first shitty trailer released months ago. Now vader's helmet? fuck off.

    • it's the last trailer and showed only 2minutes of actual film footage... you twit.fadein11
    • 1000% agreeRamanisky2
    • And Vader's helmet was in the last trailer. You may want to actually know something about what you are commenting on in future.fadein11
    • Didn't you know Harrison Ford had signed up to do the film prior to any trailer?fadein11
    • I live in the woods I connect online once every month to check QBN, you've just spoiled me star wars!!!!ernexbcn
    • 99.99% agreeKrassy

    • sorry fade didn't know you were such a fanboy. No need to get your ewok knickers in a knot._niko

    • The trailer reveals next to nothing. Unlike so many that give away the plot and show the only funny parts or best action sequences.ETM
    • no fun allowedface_melter
    • I get what niko means - but I'd say they are being pretty damn good at not spoiling too much - whilst still building hypeinteliboy
    • sometimes with nerdy shit like this it's the hype that is fun as well.inteliboy
    • Well, one can simply not click the 'PLAY' icon if so offended by potential spoilers. Kind of solves itself.ETM
    • Yeah, no one is making you pay attention to the marketing campaign. Just ignore it and enjoy your life.nb

    • I'm getting excited about this film just reading your comments, Cygnus!Continuity

The new ones look way too serious...also the problem with the last 3.

What's missing in these and what made the originals great was the camp factor. It was a swashbuckling good time without taking itself too seriously and that's what made them so much fun.

    • if u know jj at all u will be rest assured he understands how to bring that balance to film, he's very spielbergyprophetone
    • hope so, I thought he did a good job with star trek, I'm praying he can re-capture that spirit._niko
    • that's exactly what i was thinking, star trek was serious but playful, i'm confident this will balance out with little moments sprinkled thru outprophetone
    • I agree, prophet, JJ captures that family and fun aspect pretty well.monospaced
    • Spielberg was a master at this... Indiana being the greatest exampleprophetone
    • Spielberg is the most emulated director.docpoz
    • watching the new jurassic park was a reality check that we're sorely missing a director like Spielberg in our blockbusters these days...inteliboy
    • They try but fail to copy.docpoz
    • its got a ridiculously daft beach ball droid as a main character, they are kids films so will have plenty of that. But these new ones definitely need to leanfadein11
    • back to the darkness of Empire also. Which so far it appears it will. I personally will be disappointed if too camp - Lucas attempted and massively failed withfadein11
    • Jar Jar... horrendous.fadein11
    • I am ready to bet my reputation(!) on JJ's SW being superb.fadein11
    • Having just subjected myself to watching all 6 existing movies, I'd suggest you couldn't be any more wrong. What destroys SW is Lucas' constant need for cute...detritus
    • ...crap for no discernible reason. When I was a kid, I wasn't all that invested in the [fucking] Ewoks, but I was on all the adult stuff. Seeing Ewoks now ...detritus
    • ...makes me fucking Grimace. *Everything* Lucas added in the 90s editions was cutesy distracting crap too.detritus
    • re: Camp, anyway.

Swashbuckling's bang on target. It's the feeling that made the original Indiana Jones films so damn good too.
      detritus
    • see that's the problem, jar jar wasn't campy, it was just an awkward attempt at some kind of comic relief in a shitty all too serious movie._niko
  • CygnusZero41

    • Basically this movie is going to completely kickass. Love when people were complaining about JJ doing this movie. lolzCygnusZero4

"Friends, I am thrilled to announce that I'll be starring in the Star Wars reboot directed by JJ Abrams. I'll be playing Master Ceti Maru, a member of the Jedi High Council. The new film, entitled "Star Wars: Galactic Empire," is greenlit and will begin filming sometime early next year. It is truly a moment for The Star Alliance. Thanks to all my fans for their decades of support."

I watched it like 3x since the bluray rip leaked. Its very good. Obviously entertaining. Idk how anyone could possibly say its not at least entertaining.

It leans so much on the original one though. I hope they do something more with 8 and 9, not just follow the same old story beats. I get why they did it with this, because they were relaunching star wars and there was a lot riding on it so they went with what they knew would work, and it did work so now they can get a little nutty with the other 2.

    • hopefully with some gungans...prophetone
    • Entertaining yes...but more regurgitation than anything else. I hope that the next episode dives deeper into the dark side, is less campy and cliché.utopian
    • it's awesome. it's about time you started appreciating itdocpoz
    • of course they'll do more with 8 and 9; haven't you said this same general thing before a few times?monospaced
    • the new characters are great - thats what mattered most for this one imo. Not an easy task either.inteliboy
    • i never said the movie was terrible lmao. its not spice world. its just not perfect. not enough sith stuff (or any at all actually).CygnusZero4
    • the character stuff i was never worried about. that aspect of the new star trek movies was great, jj is good at that.CygnusZero4
    • In all honesty, I think the regurgitation was absolutely necessary to get fans back in. The prequels were so fucking dreadful, the fans needed a shot of ...Continuity
    • ... the SW they know and love to get them back into the fold for the new sequels. It was just the nostalgic romp needed to set the stage for the next two.Continuity
    • Indeed. The prequels are utter cinematic mince, never mind as SW films. Eps. VII is comfy as fuck with an excellent set of main characters.face_melter
    • Agreed. Good reboot and homage, great fx and fighting improvements, now let's move on.monospaced

I've been watch a ton of the clone wars series. At first I thought it was for kids and kinda lame. Turns out its fucking awesome! The story seems to work much better animated, theres some crazy awesome episodes.

Check it out if you haven't already. (mind you, some are meh. specially in the first season)

    • Star Wars Rebels is even better.fadein11
    • Droid tales are my favourite.. my 5 year old loves them and there are so many jokes that are adult orientated that go straight over his headautoflavour
    • great show, watching it all with my son.zenmasterfoo
    • last 2 episodes with yoda were worth the wait. the original clone wars, animated, i loved the 2 part mace windu.jaylarson
    • Loved almost everything about it... except the Nightsisters. Just doesn't seems to fit.ETM

Saw it today, posted this to FB:

Alright... So I liked The Force Awakens quite a bit, but really want to watch 4,5,6 again to determine how infrequently the human characters injected obvious humor into the movie. C3PO was the primary comedic element that carried on through all the movies. Much of the humor between the human roles was dry, almost Kubrick like in the original movies. Then 1,2, and 3 took a giant crap on that aspect of the series. For that reason I didn't like some of the lines and actions by Finn. The mannerisms just seemed very unlike anything that would happen in a world like that.

Altogether I enjoyed it but was reminded how much I cringe when people clap and cheer during a movie.

    • Like when he was all up in phasmas face saying" how you like that?!?!

Felt like a teen flick. oh wait, it is. lol
      sofakingback
    • Droid, please.freedom
    • Finn was a little awkward and energetic considering he didn't even have a name and was a mindless soldier with a lifetime of training?freedom
    • A New Hope was full of then current 70's era tropes from feathered hair to open collar shirts. Can't really fault for some modern day tropes.ETM
    • And by that I mean Finn's more "current" method of addressing Phasma. But I admit, I initially cringed a little when he did it too.ETM
    • Also is it just folks from the U.S. that cheer and clap in movies? I have never experienced that even on blockbuster movie opening nights.ETM
    • Depends on the movie. I heard people clap/cheer last night at hateful 8. its not super common from what I've seen.sofakingback
    • Although, I must confess. I cheered the M.Falcon!!!!! Don't hate me!!!!! my childhood falcon takes flight again!!! lolsofakingback
    • i went to a pre-release of the original LOTR, the crowd was cosplayed out, orcs, elf nerds etc... there was clapping, crying, fetal positions, looking up at godprophetone
    • Solo w/ Phasma: "...is there a garbage chute, a trash compactor?"... Finn: "yeah bro, it's so lit."prophetone
    • you mean you didnt like when finn went all sister act on phasma? (why is this in a star wars movie??)CygnusZero4
    • "yeah bro, it's so lit." Is that supposed to be a quote? Didn't he just say, "yeah there is" or something to that nature?ETM
    • it's the more "current method of addressing the tweens nowadays i.e. "that death star is lit af..."prophetone
  • sea_sea1

about kylo ren and the first order, the costume design was impeccable imo.

Watched Ep. VII last night. Had fun!
Many people had told me it was a bad sequel, Disney yada-yada, low quality story, etc.. I'm not a Star Wars freak, and really enjoyed it.

    • Really? Who told you it was bad? 99.999% of people are wetting themselves over it.fadein11
    • cygnusscarabin
    • Reactions are overwhelmingly positive, but skim through this thread. Not everybody agrees it's fantastic. Personally, I just really enjoyed it, nothing more.jagara
    • I dont think the movie is terrible. I just dont like some aspects of it, and it could have been better.CygnusZero4

Okay was avoiding this place for over a week, trying to avoid spoilers. lol Finally saw it. Loved it. Shead a tear or two. Don't judge me. :D

I love how last week there were so many people on my news feeds bragging about how they wouldn't spoil it for anyone. As though they were some kind of mini-heroes for avoiding the temptation to post details online. (As if anyone even cares to hear their opinion.) Ugh.

Then, three days later, everyone is like, "If you haven't seen it yet, it's your own fault!"

I don't care if it's spoiled for me, but come on, nerds. It's the holiday season and people have lives. It's been less than a week.

If you are spoiling it for people already, you deserve to have it spoiled for you, next time around.

    • erm - just say no click on thread. no?fadein11
    • this is a ludicrous rant.fadein11
    • Ludicrous. It's been 4 days.Al_dizzle
    • I love people who purposely join conversations involving spoilers then get upset it was spoiled.ETM
    • There shall be no reviews or discussion, online or in-person, until every person has seen the movie.ETM
    • ^ lol.fadein11
    • just dont click on the thread.. simpleautoflavour
    • To be clear: I don't care if it gets spoiled for me. It's just funny how people were bragging about not spoiling, then spoiling a few days later.nb
    • I was talking about on Facebook, etc, not on specific threads like this one.nb
