I watched it like 3x since the bluray rip leaked. Its very good. Obviously entertaining. Idk how anyone could possibly say its not at least entertaining.

It leans so much on the original one though. I hope they do something more with 8 and 9, not just follow the same old story beats. I get why they did it with this, because they were relaunching star wars and there was a lot riding on it so they went with what they knew would work, and it did work so now they can get a little nutty with the other 2.

    • hopefully with some gungans...prophetone
    • Entertaining yes...but more regurgitation than anything else. I hope that the next episode dives deeper into the dark side, is less campy and cliché.utopian
    • it's awesome. it's about time you started appreciating itdocpoz
    • of course they'll do more with 8 and 9; haven't you said this same general thing before a few times?monospaced
    • the new characters are great - thats what mattered most for this one imo. Not an easy task either.inteliboy
    • i never said the movie was terrible lmao. its not spice world. its just not perfect. not enough sith stuff (or any at all actually).CygnusZero4
    • the character stuff i was never worried about. that aspect of the new star trek movies was great, jj is good at that.CygnusZero4
    • In all honesty, I think the regurgitation was absolutely necessary to get fans back in. The prequels were so fucking dreadful, the fans needed a shot of ...Continuity
    • ... the SW they know and love to get them back into the fold for the new sequels. It was just the nostalgic romp needed to set the stage for the next two.Continuity
    • Indeed. The prequels are utter cinematic mince, never mind as SW films. Eps. VII is comfy as fuck with an excellent set of main characters.face_melter
    • Agreed. Good reboot and homage, great fx and fighting improvements, now let's move on.monospaced
